Lindsay Lohan, actress turned entrepreneur, was hand to host a holiday party for her staff at her leggings line 6126 in Beverly Hills, CA last night and made sure to wear a pair of her leggings … a ratty, ripped up pair, mind you. As Lindsay celebrated, word broke that the head of design house Emanuel Ungaro (the person who hired Lindsay to be the brand’s Fashion Director) quit his job … does this mean that Linds will lose her job at Ungaro?

The president of foundering Paris-based label Emanuel Ungaro — who hired Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan last season in what critics decried as a desperate move to revive the flagging brand — has stepped down, the fashion house said in a statement Wednesday. Lebanese-born businessman Mounir Moufarrige is leaving “in order to devote more time to his other businesses, namely, in the watch and jewelry industry,” the statement said. A press officer for the Ungaro said Moufarrige, who joined the label in 2006, will continue to serve on its strategic committee as an adviser on an “as-needed basis.” Moufarrige has made a specialty out of reviving semi-dormant brands: His achievements include turning the Montblanc pen into a cult object and hiring then-little known designer Stella McCartney at Chloe, which has since become a hot label for the under-40s set. Once favored by Hollywood’s elite, Ungaro had been bleeding money since its founder retired in 2004. However, Moufarrige struggled to turn the label around, and his attempts to appeal to younger consumers appeared to grow ever more desperate as the years ticked by. The house became a revolving door, as Moufarrige hired and fired designer after designer. Critically hailed wunderkind Esteban Cortazar, who joined Ungaro in 2007 at age 23, left just weeks before last October’s spring-summer 2010 collections. Moufarrige replaced him with young Spanish designer Estrella Archs and brought on as artistic adviser “Freaky Friday” star Lohan — who, despite having her own line of leggings, is more noted for her regular appearances in tabloids than her design ability. The result was disastrous. The runway show ended in a scrum, with hundreds of journalists vying for shots of Lohan, who appeared dazed under the lights of the flashbulbs. Critics ravaged the hastily thrown together collection of ultra mini dresses and skintight pants paired with pasties. Wednesday’s brief statement said Ungaro vice president Marie Fournier has been named general manager “to oversee all operations.” It did not provide any further details.

Yeeeeeeeeeah … I’m thinkin’ Lindsay better hold on tight to that leggings line of hers if she wants to remain in the world of “Fashion”. I’m guessing Ungaro will be dropping her from their payroll post haste … that ship is sinking, 86ing the anchor known as L. Lo would be a wise move. Ah well … it was good well, bad while it lasted. On Monday we saw a few amazing photos of Hugh Jackman enjoying the sun and surf on the isle of St. Bart’s but, alas, we won’t be seeing any more photos like that (at least for some time) because Hugh is already back in NYC. He may be mostly covered up but at least his beefy arms are still on display … I’d say they are worth a Woot! don’tcha think?

While Bethenny Frankel from Bravo TV‘s The Real Housewives of New York City was bizzy promoting the practice of NOT wearing animal fur for PETA, Rihanna was running around town in an over-sized fur chapeau that very likely kept her head warm and got animal activists hot and bothered:

Without getting into the fur debate, I will say that the ginormous size of his particular hat does look a bit silly on our dear Ri Ri. I’m not sure if she was going for “a look” or if she was really just trying to stay warm but in either instance, I’d say she reached her goal.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who was promoting her new movie Have You Heard About The Morgans?, was a guest on The Late Show with David Letterman last night and in addition to talking about The Morgans, she brought along a new photo of her newborn twins (born of a surrogate mother) Marion Loretta and Tabitha Hodge giving us our first look at the girls since we first saw them back in July:

Sarah Jessica Parker proudly showed off a photograph of her twin daughters on U.S. TV last night. In the first picture seen of the babies since they were a few days old, the six-month-old siblings Tabitha and Marion look curiously at the camera wearing pink and blue babygrows. Appearing on The Late Show With David Letterman, the Sex And The City star revealed the twins were developing incredibly different personalities. She said: ‘They are about as unidentical as twins can be. They will be six months at the end of this month and they are physically, intellectually, spiritually, geographically, politically, ideologically and religiously as different as two small six-month olds could be.’ Parker, who is married to actor Matthew Broderick, admitted their seven-year-old son James Wilkie had adjusted well to the new arrivals. She explained: ‘He’s been very hospitable and he’s amused by them occasionally. He’s annoyed by them sometimes but in fact I thought he’d forgotten about them – his world is pretty much his world which is most important.’ As Parker spoke about the joys of motherhood, she admitted she had been struggling to balance her busy workload with spending time with her twins Since surrogate mother Michelle Ross gave birth to the girls in an Ohio hospital in June, Parker has been splitting her time between her family and filming the Sex And The City sequel in New York and Morocco. In recent weeks, the actress has also been fulfilling heavy promotional duties for her new film Did You Hear About The Morgans? She said: ‘I’m probably faring as well as most working mothers in America and across the globe. Some days are absolutely triumphant. Other days you’ve basically let everybody down and you lie in bed and live in regret and plan the next day. Every day is Groundhog Day basically. I don’t feel like we have taken too much on though, because we always so wanted a larger family. It is such a blessing and we are so lucky and privileged.’ Earlier this month, she admitted she had regrets about taking on such a busy workload. She said: ‘It’s been very different than when James arrived, since our family expanded in an untraditional way. We didn’t plan on having two, but were doubly blessed, and it’s been just wonderful. One would prefer to be held 24 hours a day, and the other is already suffering from type A issues. It’s been amazing but complicated because of my current work schedule, which I have enormous regrets about.’

Project Runway Season 6 may have only just ended last month but Lifetime TV wants you to know that Season 7 of the show (already filmed and in the can) will debut next month. That’s right folks, everyone’s fave competitive reality TV series ain’t wastin’ no time to bring us the goods. Here is our first look at the poster artwork for the new season of Project Runway:

Premiering on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at 10PM ET/PT, host Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, judges Michael Kors (leading designer) and Nina Garcia (fashion director for Marie Claire magazine) will be joined by 16 new designers vying for a shot to make their way to Bryant Park and show their collection in front of top industry insiders during New York Fashion Week. For Project Runway Season Seven, designers return to the Atlas apartments, Parsons work room and revisit the Manhattan Mood as they create their couture visions for the runway. As part of the winner’s prize package, the victorious designer will receive an editorial feature in Marie Claire magazine, the opportunity to sell their line on Bluefly.com, a $50,000 technology suite by HP and Intel to create, design and run their business, and a cash prize of $100,000 from L’Oréal Paris to launch their own fashion line. Season Two of Models of the Runway launches at 11:00PM ET/PT, beginning January 14, 2010, with 16 fresh faces aspiring for their chance at being paired with the last Project Runway designer standing on the catwalk. Models of the Runway provides a back-stage look at Project Runway from the models’ perspective. Wee!! I loved last season’s PR and I am very excited that the show will be back so soon! As much as I liked that the gang were here in LA, I think the show works better in NYC … I think bringing the show back home to the Big Apple will resonate well with longtime fans. Last night the Turtle Party: Book Club met for our appointed meeting to discuss the book we chose at the last meeting, Everything Is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer and, by and large, we found that we were having a hard time with the book. The decision was made to select one of Andy’s other options and will, instead, read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon:

Some of us (me included) will continue to read Illuminated but the group as a whole will be discussing Kavalier at our next meeting. We had a great time hanging out last night … we held our meeting at the House of Pies in Los Feliz. We talked TV (Dexter, of course) and marveled at Ollie’s awesome new jacket:

In October we got to see the extended first movie trailer for Tim Burton‘s Alice In Wonderland and today we get to feast our eyes on movie trailer #2. This trailer does contain some of the scenes we saw in the first trailer but offers a whole lot more, giving us a better understanding of the film’s storyline. Here are a few screencaps:

Bethenny Frankel, one of the stars of Bravo TV‘s The Real Housewives of New York City who ironically is not a housewife at all, is featured in the new anti-fur ad campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Bethenny was on hand to unveil her new poster in NYC in person:

Commuters passing through New York’s Times Square will get a surprising welcome upon seeing a giant billboard plastered with an image of a nude Bethenny Frankel. The “Real Housewives of New York” star bared all for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ newest “I’d Rather go Naked” campaign, in which the reformed fur wearer posed au naturel in front of the Manhattan skyline. Though her slim figure is on display, Frankel was actually pregnant at the time of the September photo shoot shot by celebrity photographer Joseph Cultice atop a luxury high-rise building in the lower East Side. The reality star, now three months pregnant with her first child with fiancé Jason Hoppy, says she changed her fur-wearing ways after encountering a PETA protester holding a “skinned animal.” “It made me sick. I felt disgusting,” she told the animal rights organization. “I’m cleaning out my closets — trim, everything. I’m a really big animal lover. I don’t see any reason for cruelty.” The natural foods chef and reality star, 39, will return for the third season of “Housewives” as well as star in her own upcoming Bravo series.

The big musical movie that everyone is talking about this holiday season Nine held it’s NYC premiere at the Ziegfeld Theatre in Manhattan … and managed to bring out all the stars. Altho Madonna is not at all involved with the film in any way, she managed to steal some of the spotlight from the film’s principal cast as she walked the red carpet with her eldest daughter Lourdes Maria as her guest. Here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals of the NYC premiere of Nine:

Madonna turned the New York premiere of Nine into a family affair last night as she arrived on the red carpet with daughter Lourdes. The film may have been set in the Sixties, but Madonna was clearly reprising her own Eighties look as she turned up in a figure-hugging outfit. With her incredibly youthful face and Like A Prayer outfit, comprising lace Dolce & Gabbana bustier dress, long gloves and silver crucifix, the 51-year-old didn’t look much older than she did during the 1989 video. Her 13-year-old daughter was also going for the Eighties look in a D&G fringed skirt, biker gloves, leather jacket, Doc Martens boots and several beaded necklaces … Last night’s screening saw the biggest showing of the film’s cast with Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Fergie and Kate Hudson all stepping out in their finest couture for the glittering night. The movie’s leading man Daniel Day Lewis was also in attendance, but the only female castmember missing was Italian screen legend Sophia Loren. The cast stepped out just hours after they heard the film had received five nominations at the Golden Globes. Despite a mixed response from critics, Nine is up for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy), Best Original Song, and three acting nods for Day-Lewis, Cruz and Cotillard. Day-Lewis plays director Guido Contini, who is suffering a mid-life crisis. Arriving on the red carpet last night, Kidman shunned her favourite neutral colours for a girlie black prom dress. Appearing slightly too tight for the Australian actress around the bust area, the 42-year-old’s dress gave her a cleavage a boost. She was joined by 35-year-old Cruz – who dated Kidman’s ex Tom Cruise soon after their marriage split – who went for old school Hollywood glamour in her red hot satin asymmetrical gown. Excited Cruz, who was earlier nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe for her portrayal of Guido’s mistress Carla, said: ‘I am so honoured to be nominated for Nine. I had an incredible time working on the film with such an amazing director, Rob Marshall, and with this extraordinary cast.’ Her co-star Hudson, 30, went for a more unusual gown – a embellished monochrome jersey dress with a long train … Hudson’s night on the red carpet come as widespread reports claimed she had split from baseball player Alex Rodriguez after a six-month romance. Sources close to the high-profile couple said they split a week ago after their return from England, where A-Rod had attended the London premiere of Nine with Hudson … Other stars in attendance last night included Kidman’s actress friend Naomi Watts, who looked pretty in a pink shift dress, millionaire twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Tobey Maguire and his wife Jennifer Meyer. The film follows Guido attempting to balance the relationships of the various women in his life including his wife (Cotillard), mistress (Cruz), muse (Kidman), his confidante (Dench), an American fashion journalist (Hudson), his glamorous courtesan (Fergie) and his mother (Loren). The screenplay – an adaptation of a 1982 Broadway stage hit – was written by the late Anthony Minghella.

I’ve not read any reviews for Nine and, to be honest, I’m not at all familiar with the story … but there is a lot of buzz going on about this film and it’s made me curious. Nine was directed by Rob Marshall who directed the Academy Award-winning musical film Chicago and the cast looks fantastic … I’m sold. Are any of y’all excited to see this film?
