Over the summer we saw many photos of Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve and Alia Shawkat filming a biopic based on the 70s/80s girl band The Runaways and today we get our fist look at the first poster for the movie. The Runaways will make its worldwide debut at the Sundance Film Festival early next year … here is the poster:

Using red as the major color, the one-sheet does not give a look at any of the characters but shows legs of the band members and three guitars. Additionally, based on the image, it is known that the film still has no exact release date as it only mentions the movie will hit theaters in 2010. “The Runaways” is based on the 1970s all-girl rock band of the same name, which were brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley. Being expected to be an easy sell with a novelty act of teenaged girls performing in leather and lace, the girls ended up proving to be serious and influential musicians with songs like “Cherry Bomb.” The band lasted about four years together, falling apart over management and money issues. The film itself will cover the formation of The Runaways through to Cherie Currie’s departure at the peak of their success. Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning will be seen taking the roles of Joan Jett and Cherie respectively. Additionally, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve, and Alia Shawkat are also among the cast ensemble. Being listed as one of the movies in 2010 Sundance non-competition line-up, the film will be premiered during the festival which runs January 21-31, 2010.

Back in July we learned the sad news that Janet Jackson had broken up with her longtime boyfriend Jermaine Dupri and today we learn that she has since moved on … with another man. JJ was spotted chillin’ with this handsome young buck in Paris, France this week … and the pair were lookin’ very cozy:

I understand that Janet and her new, as yet unidentified, man spent part of their day at the Decorative Arts Museum and part of their day shopping. No word when, where or how these two met but it looks like they have been getting to know one another very well. Is it serious? Only time will tell … but knowing Janet and her need for privacy, it may be a very long time before we learn more about this guy. And who knows, she might even be married to him long before we even find out about it.

Yesterday was a pretty chilly, very wet day here in SoCal but I managed to brave the rain not once but twice for entertainment purposes. Yesterday afternoon I made my way out to the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA for a matinee showing of the new Disney animated film The Princess and the Frog:

To my ecstatic glee, I am happy to report that Disney‘s return to 2D animation is a welcome one. The Princess and the Frog is full of Disney charm and magic and while there are a few probs with the story, IMHO, I loved the movie very much and heartily recommend it to everyone. It has been LONG overdue that Disney would feature a Black princess in one of their animated films … it was so wonderful to see Tiana and her family bring color to the Disney catalog of characters. I did find it ironic, tho, that Disney‘s first Black princess spends the majority of the film as a green frog (which isn’t a spoiler, this plot development is revealed in the film trailer). I also liked that Prince Naveen was a prince of color, hailing from the fictional country of Maldonia. The Antonio Banderes-ness of his accent made him Hispanic in my eyes. The Shadow Man villain was fun and I love all the color and magic that the New Orleans setting provided the story. I was not happy with Ray the toothless Cajun firefly character … he seemed a bit derogatory to me … but, wouldn’t you know it, he charmed me completely and I ended up really liking him (I just wish the animators gave him more than 3 teeth). My fave character, hands down, was Tiana‘s BFF Charlotte (she even had a Big Daddy a la Blanche Devereaux in Golden Girls). She was a really cute character. I have to say that the biggest disappointment for me were the songs, written by Randy Newman. I’m sorry but he sucks. None of the songs were memorable or catchy. I miss the days when Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) wrote for Disney. The ending was a bit of a surprise, I won’t spoil but something happened that you don’t usually see in Disney films. Even with these tiny flaws, The Princess and the Frog is a great film to add to the Disney library of animated classics. I hope we get to see more 2D animated films very soon. 2D animation has been away for far too long.

Last night a few castmembers of the new hit MTV reality TV series Jersey Shore invaded Hollywood after they made an appearance at the 2009 Spike Video Game Awards. Jenni Jwoww Farley, Nicole Snooki Polizzi (who is most famous for getting punched in the face on the show), Paul Pauly D Delvecchio (who hopes to strip down for the Playgirl some day) and Mike The Situation Sorrentino (who vehemently defends his right to be a guido) made a splash at Voyeur nightclub last night … and were sure to pose for photos on their way into the club:

Bam! Just like that … a new batch of Stars are born. I’m sure these young people yearned for the glitz and glamor of Hollywood as they dreamed their little dreams in the Jersey Shore and, at last, they have arrived. I understand these new stars were treated like royalty at the VGAs last night with actual celebrities falling over themselves to ask for photos with them. I don’t believe that anyone got punched in the face at Voyeur last night, so all in all I think it was a great night on the town for everyone involved. I hope they enjoy the spotlight while everyone loves them … reality TV fame is very fleeting. They are the toast of the town now … but they won’t be for long. I say, live it up and get everything you can while you still can. They’ll very likely be back on the boardwalk of the Jersey Shore thinkin’ about their 15 minutes of fame sooner than they prolly realize.

Yesterday we learned that Lindsay Lohan traveled to India earlier this week to participate in the creation of a new documentary for the BBC that focuses on the horrors of human trafficking. Today we learn that L. Lo has returned home to Los Angeles, CA from her travels overseas … and upon arrival, she donned a pair of thick sunglasses to greet the waiting throng of photographers:

LOL … love Lindsay to pieces but she really did look like she was heading out to beg for change on the street. But, despite her ridiculous shades, I’m still fairly impressed with her efforts overseas to be a part of that BBC documentary. Here’s hoping she will be inspired in the future to offer her assistance for other similar projects. Hey, stranger things have happened … if Angelina Jolie can transform herself into a super-philanthropist, so can Lindsay Lohan … right?

While wife/mother Victoria Beckham was bizzy shopping up a storm in Paris, France, husband/father David Beckham and his middle son Romeo James did a bit of their own shopping here in SoCal. Becks and Romeo were snapped emerging from the Paul Smith store in West Hollywood, CA yesterday loaded down with shopping bags full of stuff … behold:

It’s not entirely clear if Becks did some Xmas shopping for the loved ones on his list or if he just picked up a whole shizzload of new clothes for himself but it’s plainly clear that he gave his credit card quite a workout. I bet it would be really fun to shop with Becks … it’d be even MORE fun if he picked up the bill ;)

On Friday we saw a few photos of Victoria Beckham shopping the streets of Paris, France in a blindingly white outfit (complete with matching cape) and today we get to see a few more pics of VB in gay Paris. Vicki B. did a bit more shopping this weekend and did so rocking a seemingly un-Animal friendly ensemble …

… but later in the evening, she changed clothes (of course) to paint the town red with fashion designer and BFF Marc Jacobs. I believe the fur wrap is faux but those leather leggings look like the real deal to me. I much prefer VB in the skimpy trenchcoat … it seems to be her go-to look these days. I understand that Posh is already back in England and, presumably, will be returning home to her family here in SoCal very soon.

Twilight star Taylor Lautner played host on Saturday Night Live last night (much like his BFF/girlfriend Taylor Swift did a few weeks ago) and altho the kid performed with great zeal and gusto, the overall tone of the show was … well … not terribly funny. Yes there was a skit or two that got me to chortle but, truth be told, I wasn’t really rolling in the aisles with laughter. Lautner did give a pretty hilarious monologue … in it, he addressed the Taylor Swift vs. Kanye West incident that took place at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. I had forgotten that Lautner was one of the presenters on stage while Swift was being interrupted by Kanye … his monologue explained what he should’ve done when Kanye stole Swift‘s winning moment at the awards show.
