Chace Crawford Does Women’s Wear Daily

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford is featured in a new interview and photospread for the esteemed fashion website Women’s Wear Daily where in he talks about his career achievements and future goals … and looks sharp as hell. Here is one of Chace‘s WWD photos and some excerpts from his interview:

Crawford’s screen appeal is not courtesy of the smoke and mirrors of television, where he alternately preens and broods as WASPy Nate Archibald on The CW’s Gossip Girl—but rather to the Texan’s delicately hewn features. Things you either have or you don’t. Yet despite his made-for-TV looks, all sideswept bangs, clean-shaven cheeks and lashy blue eyes, the 24-year-old never aspired to acting. “I wasn’t, like, Johnny Theater in high school,” says Crawford, who grew up in Plano, Tex., the son of a dermatologist father and a teacher mother. “I was into sports. I was good at math. I was doing photography. I had my hand in a lot of different cliques.” Yes, he did some cheesy catalogue work in Dallas (“Just to make some extra money,” he swears. “I hated modeling”), but he kept his focus on his course work. After high school, Crawford enrolled in Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., with the intention of studying broadcast journalism and business. This lasted all of a few semesters. “I didn’t really like it that much,” he says. On the urging of a friend of a friend in Los Angeles, he met with a commercial agent, who connected him with a theatrical agent. He shook some hands; people seemed to be interested. So with his parents’ blessing, he dropped out to see where some acting classes and auditions might lead. To supplement his income, he was a valet at the swanky seaside restaurant Geoffrey’s Malibu. Parking Porsches didn’t last long. “Too many things fell in the right place at the right time,” says Crawford, who shot a made-for-TV movie, the 2006 supernatural thriller The Covenant and “a couple of indies” before he read the Gossip Girl pilot script in early 2007. ”It was a lot about timing, that a show like [Gossip Girl] comes around—the right character, the right people to do the show, the right cast—that formula for success is difficult.” Crawford’s take on blue blooded–but–earnest high schooler Archibald won over Gossip Girl producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage—of The O.C. fame—and finally CBS honcho Les Moonves. “I’m not ignorant to the fact that part of the reason why the show’s popular and part of the reason [why] people want to see it is to be like, ‘Oh, novelty boy! Hot boy! Pretty boy!’” Crawford says. “And that’s all fine and good. It is what it is.” He’s not begrudging, at least outwardly, of Nate’s goody-goody rep. “I can’t try to play against what they write [my character] as, which is the moral backbone, the golden compass. If everyone is deceiving people, Nate’s right there making it right.” As for the teen dream factor, Crawford adds: “There are a lot of people that try too hard to be the starving actor and to be really pseudo-intellectual and dark, when, really, there’s a business side to manage and push towards.”

I mean … C’mon … let’s be real … Chace is an OK actor but I’ve yet to be wowed by any of his performances. The truth of the matter is that he is pretty and being pretty goes along way. From The Covenant (terrible) to Gossip Girl (better) to the upcoming remake of Footloose (TBD), Chace‘s looks have gotten him where he is, not a stunning display of acting prowess. But believe me, I am not complaining … showbuisness is a tough biz to be in. After the jump, check out one more photo from Chace‘s WWD shoot and read his thoughts on the future of his career …

Jude Law Ditches Sienna Miller To Hang With His Son Rudy

Jude Law, who has been spending a lot of time with his old flame Sienna Miller these days, decided to ditch the bird and spend some time instead with his youngest son Rudy Indiana Otis in NYC yesterday … here are a few pics of the Law men picking up a few things on their shopping excursion:

HMMM … isn’t it funny how Jude Law kinda walks with a more pronounced bow-leggedness? I wonder if Ms. Miller has anything to do with that … you know, just wondering. I do love Jude‘s stylish outfit, he wears his clothes very well. I also love that he can spend time with his kids (well, his legitimate kids that is … not so much his unplanned daughter) from time to time while putting his personal life on the backburner. I’m sure Jude will be creepin’ up with Sienna in no time … but yesterday was clearly Ru-day.

‘Sex And The City 2’ Releases New Promo Pics

Yesterday we got our first look at the first movie poster for Sex and the City 2 (due out in theaters next May) and today we get to see a few newly released promo pics from the film which feature Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw (wearing the outfit that is featured in the new movie poster) and a group shot of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha (SJP, Cynthia Nixon, Kristen Davis and Kim Cattrall respectively) singing a karaoke song in the film!

We don’t yet know what song the ladies will be singing in the flick but you can bet it’ll be a fun track. First a movie poster and now promo pics … bring it on, bring it on!! I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ll be seeing a teaser trailer sometime soon. Love me some Sex and the City … I want more, more, more.

"Now with Ultraviolent Zombie Mayhem!"
Natalie Portman Will Bring ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ To The Big Screen

Yay!! Amazing new movie news to pass along today … Natalie Portman, one of my fave young actresses ever, is starring in and producing the big screen adaptation of the amazingly charming novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. For those of you not in the know, Grahame-Smith amended Austen‘s classic novel Pride and Prejudice by adding zombies … which, to be honest, makes for an EXTREMELY entertaining read:

Given Natalie Portman’s elegant demeanor, a turn in a period Jane Austen adaptation was inevitable. Portman will star in and produce “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” a film that is based on the bestselling book written by Seth Grahame-Smith and Austen. Lionsgate will finance and distribute. Quirk Books published the tome. Though Austen’s name is on the book, Grahame-Smith took the liberty of adding bloodthirsty flesh-eating zombies to the mix. Portman will produce through her handsomecharlie shingle with Annette Savitch, plus Darko Films’ Richard Kelly, Sean McKittrick and Ted Hamm. Described as an expanded version of the Austen classic, the book tells the timeless story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers. Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy. Darko just released “The Box,” “World’s Greatest Dad” and “I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell” … “Natalie and I are longtime passionate fans of Jane Austen’s books and this a fresh, fun and thought-provoking way to approach her work,” Savitch said. “The idea of zombies running rampant in 19th Century England may sound odd, but it lends a modern sense of urgency to a well known love story.”

This is great and totally unsurprising news. I read this book last April and loved it to pieces. I have never been a Jane Austen fan but I was very surprised how much I liked her work with the addition of a bunch of zombies ;) I can absolutely see Natalie Portman as Elizabeth Bennet: Zombie Killer … brilliant, brilliant idea. After the jump, check out a couple of FULL COLOR photos from the hard-cover edition of the book that give a bit of a feel for the fun story …

The ‘Glee’ Guys ‘Sing In The Rain’ For ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine

Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith, Mark Salling, Chris Colfer and Kevin McHale — the principal male stars of the hit Fox TV series Glee — were all on hand at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to pose for a photospread in Vanity Fair magazine. The Glee guys were all dressed up in trench-coats and were wielding umbrellas around the LACMA‘s outdoor art installation Urban Light (which is basically a bunch of street lights grouped together in front of the museum) in an homage to the Gene Kelly classic Singing in the Rain:

Considering the weather we’ve been “enjoying” here in SoCal this week, it’s entirely possible that the guys were actually singing (and posing) in honest to goodness rain. No word on when these photos will be published in the pages of VF mag but I’ll be keepin’ an eye out. What a fun idea for a photoshoot, no?

The Not So Lovely ‘Bones’

Last night I was given the opportunity to see an early screening of The Lovely Bones here in LA and since I had no plans for the night, I decided to check out the film. As you may recall, I only recently read the book by Alice Sebold back in August so the story was very fresh in my mind at the theater last night. I found the book extremely powerful, very emotional and (except for the ending) I liked it very much. I’m afraid I cannot say the same about the Peter Jackson-directed movie:

I have to say that Stanley Tucci gave a fantastic performance … he was, truly, the best actor in the film. Rachel Weisz, who is a very accomplished actress, got kinda lost in this film … she was literally not present for much of the film and therefore I felt she was wasted. Marky Mark Wahlberg was horrible … absolutely, the worst. I’ve never been particularly impressed by his acting prowess but this film has to be his worst performance ever. If this movie had any chance at being good then that chance was ruined by Wahlberg‘s inclusion in this movie. The book is so … emotional. This movie is so … tedious. The FX of “the in-between” are really cool for a very short while, then they get tiresome and boring. A lot of important parts of the book were left out, which is normal for book-to-movie adaptaions, but I was really bothered by how much the storyline of the Ray Singh character was changed. As always, I urge all y’all to judge the film for yourselves … I was just not at all impressed by this movie and feel that the book is not done justice by this adaptation. The original book ending (which I hated) is kept intact in the movie so … I guess there’s that.

Tonight, I’m seeing Morrissey one more time. I have tickets to see the Mozzer in Ventura, CA for the last performance of The Swords Tour (you may recall I saw him perform in Pomona, CA earlier this week). It will, most likely, not only be my last concert of the year but my last concert of the decade. And, if you can believe it, the first concert I saw back at the start of 2000 was Morrissey at the State Theater in Detroit, MI. What a way to bookend the decade … with Morrissey concerts ;) Happy weekend, y’all!! Stay warm!!!

Whitney Houston Performs In Moscow

Whitney Houston, who has been enjoying a great career comeback in the past few months, has dusted off her old fur coat (you remember, that ratty-ass coat she used to wear in her darker days) for a recent visit to Moscow, Russia:

UGH … that coat. Well, at least she got a new hat to match. You may recall that Whitney previously visited France and Germany so it makes sense that she would want to visit Russia, too. After the jump, check out some photos from Whitney‘s performance in Moscow Wednesday night (there’s more fur to be had) and find out some deets about her reported upcoming world tour …

David Boreanaz Steps Out With New Daughter Bardot Vita

In early September we learned that Buffyverse alum David Boreanaz and his wife Jaime Bergman welcomed the birth of a baby girl they named Bardot Vita. David, Jaime and their son Jaden Rayne ventured out in October to pick out their Hallowe’en pumpkins but, alas, little Bardot did not come along for the ride. Today we get our first look at Bardot Vita who was lookin’ very pretty all wrapped in pink as she was carried by her father earlier this week:

How cute are these two?! It’s been ages since we heard of Bardot‘s birth and we are finally getting our first look at her. She’s got a nice big pair of eyes, don’t she? Here’s hoping we get to see more of Bardot Boreanaz (good name, right?) out and about with her hottie daddy.

Pamela Anderson Is Fond Of ‘Big Penis’

You prolly wouldn’t consider Pamela Anderson a big reader but I will now present to you photographic evidence to the contrary … Pammy pie was on hand at an event in Beverly Hills, CA last night where Hugh Hefner was signing books and Pamela picked up a little reading material to take home with her …

… yes, folks, apparently Pamela could not resist taking home a book titled The Big Penis Book. Now, lest you get any funny ideas that Pamela is a connoisseur of literature, I feel compelled to inform you that The Big Penis Book is actually a book of photographs of, you guessed it, big penises. Now, I would never want to dissuade anyone from showing an interest in books so far be it for me to besmirch Ms. Anderson for her choice in reading material … but as far as the sight of Pamela Anderson holding an actual book goes, well, it doesn’t get more perfect than this.
