In honor of the 20th anniversary of The Simpsons, TV Guide is releasing 5 collectible covers of their mag each with a different coverphoto of Simpson patriarch Homer J. Simpson. Here is one of his collectible covers:

In celebration of “The Simpsons” 20th anniversary, TV GUIDE MAGAZINE has issued five collectible covers hitting newsstands Thursday, December 3 and on sale for two weeks. Each of the five issues features a unique Homer Simpson illustration on the cover, along with three additional full-page illustrations on the inside pages, for a total of 20 Homers – representing an unforgettable Homer moment from each of the past 20 seasons.

The five collectible TV GUIDE MAGAZINE cover illustrations featuring Homer Simpsons are:

01. I Am Furious Yellow (from Season 13, aired April 28th 2002)
02. Colonel Homer (from Season 3, aired March 26th, 1992)
03. King-Size Homer (from Season 7, aired November 5th, 1995)

Man … there are so many amazing eps of The Simpsons, I’d be hard-pressed to be able to compile a list of my faves … which is why I’m very curious to see what the editors of TV Guide come up with. When last we saw Tom Cruise hard at work he was playing action hero in Boston, MA on the set of his new film Knight and Day … but today we get to see photos of Cruise Seville, Spain set of the movie. Brace yourselves … in this new film, Tommy boy will be packin’ heat:

I don’t know why but the sight of Tom Cruise holding a gun shares the living bejesus out of me. The fact that he thinks he is cool enough to twirl it around like this only scares me more. I gotta say, tho, I’m impressed with all this hard work that Tom has been doing these past few weeks. Going from one movie set to the next, on different continents is pretty impressive. It’s kinda like Tom fancies himself a big movie star still. Ain’t that cute?

Great news Kylie Minogue fans!! Kylie.com has been updated with information announcing the release of a live album titled Kylie Live in New York which was recorded during one of her live performances at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, NY this past October. Last month we learned that a new brand of heroin has hit the streets of NYC which features a cartoon image of Edward Cullen on the packaging. This Twilight Heroin is believed to be branded as such in order to entice younger users. In that blogpost, I mentioned that back in the day I recall a bunch of ecstasy pills making the rounds in Detroit, MI that were shaped like Pokémon and Teletubbies characters. It turns out that these days, a new batch of ecstasy pills are making the rounds … police in Texas busted a guy with a bunch of ecstasy pills that were shaped like President Barack Obama, which is but one of the trendy forms of ecstasy pills that are all the rage these days:

President Barack Obama’s approval rating may be hovering in the 50 percent range, but that doesn’t mean America’s Commander-in-Chief isn’t catching on with new constituents. There is now a line of Ecstasy pills made in the image of the 44th president of the United States, according to Texas police who have snatched a batch off the streets. Ecstasy is known for a sense of elation, diminished feelings of fear and anxiety, and ability to induce a sense of intimacy with others. Perhaps a good Election Day strategy to get out the vote? A stash of the brightly colored tablets was found Monday during a south Texas traffic stop. Police in Palmview detained a driver after finding black tar heroin, cocaine, marijuana and several Ecstasy pills in the back of his car. The drugs look like a “vitamin for kids,” police spokesman Lenny Sanchez said. Police say that other Ecstasy pills they found were made to look like the cartoon characters Homer Simpson and the Smurfs. The 22-year-old driver is expected to face felony drug possession counts. Palmview is near the border with Mexico. No word on the driver’s political affiliation.

Dang … these pills really do look like children’s vitamins. I remember I used to LOVE eating Flintstones Chewable Vitamins … these ecstasy pills look just like them. As you can see in these photos, President Obama has been immortalized in pill form along with Homer J. Simpson, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Snoopy and more. It’s so crazy that this is the way that people prefer to take their drugs. I guess different strokes for different folks. Kids these days.

Scarlett Johansson, who was featured on the January 2009 issue of Harper’s Bazaar magazine earlier this year, is once again featured on the cover of HB for their January 2010 issue. In her coverstory interview, ScarJo talks about the charity work she did in Africa this year and reveals the apprehension she felt when she first started giving aid. Here is Scarlett‘s Harper’s Bazaar coverphoto and some excerpts from her interview:

Scarlett Johansson was “apprehensive” about doing charity work in Africa. The 25-year-old actress was nervous when she recently travelled to Rwanda to support several women’s charities – which help improve the lives of females in the poverty-hit region – because she had been warned she might be disturbed by what she saw. She said: “I had a bit of apprehension walking into the first hospital. But I soon realised you’re standing before people. They might be very ill but they’re just people like everyone else. Suddenly you’re not aware of how you’re feeling, how you’re going to look. If you let your guard down and stop being aware of yourself, you’re able to really connect with people.” During her work with charity Red, the blonde beauty was amazed by how positive the women she visited were and how strong their bond was with each other. She told Harper’s Bazaar magazine : “I’ve always found women have power in numbers. We draw strength from the support of other women.” The curvaceous actress has since posed in sexy animal-print outfits for a photo shoot in Harper’s Bazaar magazine to raise awareness of the cause.

I love this idea of coupling a magazine coverstory with spreading awareness of ScarJo‘s charity work … it’s a great way to get the message out to more people, without them even realizing it. Last night was David’s and my latest Date Night (which was a bit delayed due to the Thanksgiving holiday) and since it was his turn to pick the activity, I had no idea what we were doing until the appointed time arrived. Pop culture artist Daniel Edwards, who last unveiled a statue called Landmark for Breastfeeding featuring a nude Angelina Jolie breastfeeding a child on the campus of the University of Oklahoma earlier this year, has created a new sculpture called Brangelina Forever. Brangelina Forever is housed inside a larger art project created by LA artist Xvala called The Brangelina, which is a faux (but life-size) home/art piece which is meant to represent the famed couple. This faux home, as I mentioned, features the life-size statue of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie … who are, of course, nekkid:

Phantom-Financial announces the December unveiling of the sculpture of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in an amorous embrace by artist Daniel Edwards, just minutes from Brad Pitt’s own birthplace in the Oklahoma City Metro area. The sculpture is part of the 4,000 sq. ft., $500,000 house named “The Brangelina”, by the Los Angeles artist known as Xvala. “Brangelina Forever”, a life-size casting of Brad and Angelina in bed, making love Harlequin Romance-style, with a cooing dove perched on Brad’s finger, is installed in the ceiling of the master bedroom to inspire a ‘sexual healing’ for the room’s occupants. The statues are embedded with crushed glass containing Brad and Angie’s DNA obtained from wine glasses from which they drank while reportedly celebrating the anniversary of their first meeting on the set of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith.’ “The Brangelina” sculpture is destined to exist forever, the way Brad and Angie’s relationship will persist in people’s memories. Theirs is the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton romance of our time,” said publicist Cory Allen. Inspired by Brad Pitt’s mission to help rebuild houses in New Orleans’s Lower Ninth Ward after hurricane Katrina, the artist Xvala built “The Brangelina”, a house which requests its future owners agree to extend ‘Honorary Ownership’ of their home to Pitt and Jolie, and to accommodate them every time they come to town to visit Pitt’s grandmother. “I believe every home in America should become an ‘honorary home’ to our superstars, in order to connect celebrities and regular people in spirit,” said Xvala. The statue and the house are part of the documentary “Domestic Bliss: The Daniel Edwards/XVALA Project” by Oklahoma filmmaker Dave Smith and produced by Vacant Era Films, scheduled to premiere at The New York Academy of Art. A segment of the film has been posted on YouTube. The Brangelina will be on public view starting Wednesday December 16th at 11 a.m. in the Thornbrooke neighborhood of Edmond.

In addition to the Angelina breastfeeding statue you may recall that Edwards also created the Britney Spears giving birth on a bear skin rug statue called Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston a couple of years ago. And I have to say, I absolutely LOVE that the Daniel Edwards has made the great state of Oklahoma (which is near and dear to my heart) THE center of pop culture artwork. The city of Edmond, where The Brangelina art-piece is on display, is a quite little suburban neighborhood … the perfect setting for a homey art-piece like this. Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift were spotted lookin’ all cozy and stuff in a fancy Porsche yesterday afternoon/evening here in SoCal but it turns out that the couple were bizzy filming new scenes for the movie they are co-starring in together, Valentine’s Day. Here are a few photos:

As you may recall, Britney Spears celebrated her 28th birthday this past Wednesday (December 2) and we know that she spent her day with her agent/beau Jason Trawick but what we didn’t know was that among her birthday gifts this year was a brand new BMW car! I’ve already done lost track of all of her motor vehicles but this latest whip has to be about her 10th car, seriously:

A new white BMW convertible with a ribbon on it and balloons inside was sent to the singer’s Calabasas home, where she threw a birthday party on Wednesday, December 2. Turning 28 years old on Wednesday, December 2, Britney Spears got a special present delivered to her Calabasas home, which was a new white BMW convertible with a ribbon on it and balloons inside. No word though on who sent her the gift. Throwing a private party, the birthday girl was joined by her boyfriend Jason Trawick, her father Jamie Spears, and her young sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she has with then-husband Kevin Federline. Her mother Lynne Spears and sister Jamie Lynn Spears were nowhere to be seen though. Over all, there were around 20 people who helped Britney celebrating her big day, including some close friends and dancers. Britney, as reported by E! News, “was in good spirits,” and “dressed sexily, in a blue velvet blazer, shorts and fishnet stockings.” She was later on presented with a birthday cake. “It was really mellow,” says a source.

Now that sounds like a damn fine birthday party, huh? I suspect we’ll be seeing photos of Britney tooling around SoCal in her new toy very soon. We know how much she loves to drive ;)
