By many accounts, 2009 was not a great year and was a pretty miserable end to a fairly hellacious decade. I don’t know many people who aren’t happy to see 2009 end. So, it is appropriate that we give a hearty Peace the Spork Out to the year 2009:
But, as miserable as the year was for most, I have to say that it wasn’t so bad for me. Sure, the failing economy had an adverse effect on my life just like it did for so many others but when I look back on the last year, I can only focus on the positive things that occurred. David and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary by moving in together here in LA back in February. I made some fantastic new friends who I love and care for dearly. I was able to celebrate the love and union of a couple of amazing people who tied the knot this year. But, I think, most importantly … I was able to continue doing what I love to do … I was able to get another year of blogging under my belt. I want to send out lots of love and wishes for a Happy, Happy New Year to each and every one of you reading this today. We are on the brink of a whole new year, a whole new decade and that means a whole new opportunity for fresh starts. I am resolving to do more studying in the new year and am planning to reconnect with the beauty and holiness of Nature. I am really excited for 2010 …
… and I wish you all love, prosperity, health and happiness in 2010 and beyond!
Happy New Year, y’all!!
While there are mere hours left of 2009, I have one last Xmas ’09 tidbit to share with all y’all. Happily marrieds Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon commissioned artist J. David McKenney to illustrate their Xmas card this year … which you can see below:
Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon have several holiday traditions, including spending Christmas in Aspen, Colorado and sending out a cartoon Christmas card to family and friends. Illustrated by J. David McKenney, this year’s card portrays the couple as a sexy version of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, surrounded by their four dogs J.J., Cha-Cha, Dolomite, and Jack. Last year, Mariah and Nick were also dressed as Mrs. and Mr. Claus on a reindeer-drawn sleigh filled with gifts.
I love this Xmas card … it’s really cute. After the jump, check out the card that McKenney illustrated for Mr. & Mrs. Cannon for Xmas ’08 … More »
Sharp dressed man
On Tuesday we got our first look at David Beckham all decked out in his black and red soccer uniform for AC Milan and today we get to see Becks all decked out in something a bit more slick. Becks participated in a press conference for his European soccer team yesterday and made his way out of the venue dressed in his AC Milan best … behold:
Love it … Becks will end the year the way he began the year, lookin’ hot. I know he’s all amped to hopefully join the English soccer team so he can compete in the World Cup one more (last?) time next year so I hope he has a stellar season with AC Milan so that wish can come true. Happy New Year, Becks … here’s to many more New Years of hawtness :)

Here are a couple of supercute pics of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden enjoying a night out together at the LA Lakers game this week. The couple spend a lot of time out with the kiddies but they don’t get to do quiet date nights very often … it looks like they had a great time:
Undoubtedly, Nic/Joel had a fantastic 2009 together … not only did they get to watch their beautiful babygirl, Harlow Winter, grow into an adorable little toddler but they also welcomed the birth of a babyboy, Sparrow James. As their family grew so did their love. Here’s to a happy and prosperous 2010 for the Richie-Madden family. Considering how cute their babies turn out, I’d not be surprised at all if they decided to add another little one to the fam ;)

Last night David and I met up with our friends Rob, Tam, Ollie, Caleb and Kanani (who was a nice surprise) for dinner at Mexico City in Los Feliz. We hadn’t seen these guys since way before Xmas (and I hadn’t seen Kanani since the Summer) so we decided for a little get together since we were all back in town. Here are a couple photos I snapped last night:
The food was excellent but the company was even better … we had a blast.
Tonight, David and I will be making our way to the beach to meet up with our friends Josh and Emma. I wanted to ring in the New Year on the beach of the Pacific Ocean for our first SoCal NYE so it looks like that will be the plan. I’m not sure how much I’ll remember to tweet at the appointed hour but I’ll do my best. I wish you all a Happy, Safe and very Fun New Year’s Eve!!!

Just can't get enough
Jared Leto is a really big fan of bike riding … as we learned back in October, he and his band 30 Seconds to Mars met up with a few dozen friends/fans to film a music video for their new single Kings + Queens with bike riding as the theme of the vid. Yesterday, out in Miami, FL, Jared was spotted riding around town using his favorite mode of transportation:
To be honest, I love seeing photos of Leto out and about doing anything but I particularly like pics of the lad on his bike. It’s hard to believe that this man is actually 38 years old (he just celebrated his birthday last Saturday) but I guess all that bike riding keeps him young … and hawt ;)

It's no longer Morphin' Time!
The long-running live action TV series Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers aired its 700th episode this past weekend which turned out to be, sadly, their last episode. After premiering on US television back in 1993, the show managed to stay on the air for the next 16 years. I’m not sure if many of y’all even remember the show but it was a pretty big hit for youngsters in the days before Pokémon. Alas … the end has come for MMPR. It’s dunzo, y’all:
It’s been a long road for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. And last week Zordon finally decided that the Rangers were through, forever. The Power Rangers ended their series with the 700th episode. We’ll miss Billy and his overalls most. Last weekend after 700 episodes and 17 seasons, the long-running Power Ranger series came to an end. The karate-miming, putty-patroller-beating group reached massive highs with toy sales and ratings in childrens’ television, and also terrible lows with the tragic and dark crime that involved a past child star. They definitely left their mark on this planet, so with that I leave you with a high kick followed by a karate chop …
In all honesty, I had no idea that MMPR was still on the air but I deffo remember how much of a “thing” it was when it was on the air. There was even a bit of controversy that the martial arts featured in the show inspired kids to play violently. As we get older, the things of our childhood slowly die out … which is kinda sad. I mean, trust me, I will not be mourning the loss of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers very seriously but when I learned of the show’s end, well, I’ll admit I got a bit sad. After the jump, check out a short video from the premiere ep of the US version of the series that shows how the Power Rangers came to be … More »
Patrick Disney Miller is in deep doo, y'all
Earlier this month we learned that Walt Disney‘s grandson Patrick Disney Miller was arrested on charges of illegal weapons possession and today we learn that Miller has just been formally charged with 20 counts of illegal gun and drugs possession. He was initially only charged with one felony count of ammunition possession but a search of his home clearly brought new evidence to light:
Walt Disney’s grandson has been charged with multiple counts of illegal gun possession and drug possession. Patrick Disney Miller, 42, who was convicted of drug possession in Fresno in 2005, was arrested earlier this month after police served a search warrant at his home in Woodland Hills and found a variety of weapons. Miller was originally charged with a single felony count, but prosecutors have filed 19 additional charges against him. Miller was free after posting $70,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Van Nuys. Miller’s mother, Diane Disney Miller, is the eldest daughter of Walt Disney. She and her husband, Ronald William Miller, have seven children. Patrick Disney Miller is the youngest.
Dang! I mentioned in my last post on Miller‘s bust that the Disney family heirs have done a pretty good job of keeping a low profile and have managed to stay totally out of trouble (unlike, say, the Hilton family heirs). But Patrick Miller has really gone all out to shatter that pristine Disney heir image. It is worth noting that just because a person is charged with multiple felonies, that does NOT mean that they are guilty of those crimes. It’s just that so many charges usually tend to result in at least some of them turning into convictions. While many of us will be gearing up to celebrate New Year’s Eve today, Patrick Disney Miller will be facing arraignment today. Yikes!

Hug it out
Yesterday we saw the first photo of Rosie O’Donnell and a mysterious new woman in her life holding hands in Miami, FL. Today we learn that the woman’s name is Tracy Kachtick-Anders, a mother of 6 and apparently Rosie‘s new ladylove:
From People: Looks like love’s a beach for Rosie O’Donnell, 47, who had a big hug for new girlfriend Tracy Kachtick-Anders on a strand in Miami this month. Dressed casually, the pair seem to be embracing a new life together.
From US Weekly: Rosie O’Donnell has a new woman in her life — plus six additional kids! A rep for O’Donnell, 47, confirms to UsMagazine.com that the comedian — who revealed in November that she and partner Kelli Carpenter had been living apart for two years — is now dating Tracy Kachtick-Anders. O’Donnell was photographed on a jet ski in Miami with Kachtick-Anders in November, and the pair were photographed hand-in-hand in Florida on Tuesday. When asked about the photos and her new love, O’Donnell confirms on her AskRo blog, “I am happy.” In an October interview at Examiner.com, the Texas-based Kachtick-Anders is described as an “artist, writer, inventor, doula and lesbian mother of six.” Kachtick-Anders has one biological child and five adopted children. O’Donnell herself has four children with ex Carpenter: Parker, 14, Chelsea, 12, Blake, 9, and Vivienne, 6.
HMMM … if Rosie and Tracy really do make a go of a serious relationship together, they will be giving Octomom Nadya Suleman a run for her money with a combined total of 10 kids together. Wow. I understand that Tracy and Rosie met via her official website … a casual comment left in the Ask Ro section of her site clearly grew into something more substantial. Here’s to a Happy New Year of Love and Bliss for these ladies and their brood of kids.
