The long-running live action TV series Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers aired its 700th episode this past weekend which turned out to be, sadly, their last episode. After premiering on US television back in 1993, the show managed to stay on the air for the next 16 years. I’m not sure if many of y’all even remember the show but it was a pretty big hit for youngsters in the days before Pokémon. Alas … the end has come for MMPR. It’s dunzo, y’all:

It’s been a long road for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. And last week Zordon finally decided that the Rangers were through, forever. The Power Rangers ended their series with the 700th episode. We’ll miss Billy and his overalls most. Last weekend after 700 episodes and 17 seasons, the long-running Power Ranger series came to an end. The karate-miming, putty-patroller-beating group reached massive highs with toy sales and ratings in childrens’ television, and also terrible lows with the tragic and dark crime that involved a past child star. They definitely left their mark on this planet, so with that I leave you with a high kick followed by a karate chop …
In all honesty, I had no idea that MMPR was still on the air but I deffo remember how much of a “thing” it was when it was on the air. There was even a bit of controversy that the martial arts featured in the show inspired kids to play violently. As we get older, the things of our childhood slowly die out … which is kinda sad. I mean, trust me, I will not be mourning the loss of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers very seriously but when I learned of the show’s end, well, I’ll admit I got a bit sad.
