I don’t understand how PETA objectives women? I am an avid PETA supporter, and always will be. PETA does campaigns where its I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur. They don’t pick and choose models. Anyone could do a campaign like that, even men. It just so happens that women volunteer more and are the majority. Kudos to PETA, and thanks for making the world a better place when it comes to animal abuse.

Rossy, I think you are confusing pornographic with nudity. There is no clear definition for pornography, it is really a subjective issue, and I find many of PETA’s marketing strategies to be offense and insensitive to women. While I know these women complied to displaying theirselves as so, that doesn’t mean I agreed with their decisions either. I don’t understand what half-naked women with their legs spread around a giant stirring pot of vegetables in dim lighting has to do with the cause for vegetarianism? Eating veggies is hot? Not really. And in this case, what do millions of needlessly dying animals annually have to do with some Nickelodeon star’s ass? It is irrelevant and a cheap way to get attention, frankly a demeaning way that occurs all too often because hey, unfortunately, sex sells. That doesn’t mean objectifying women is a good thing. Does capitalism really run our lives that much, that it justifies behaviors (the objectifying of women) that lead to awful behaviors such as rape? I will not support any organization that does so, and on top of PETA’s rediculous claims they care for animals when they euthenize any animal that cannot continue in some kind of PETA-realized perfect existance (in the case of the baby bear), I will refuse to support PETA even more strongly.

Treat animals like more than a “piece of meat”? Yeah, tell that to a feminist and she’ll show you who is being objectified as a “piece of meat” in today’s society.

I dont agree with animal cruelty at all, nor do i agree with animals still being killed for their fur when we are in 2009!
However i do own a real fur coat! Its been in the family for years.
I also eat meat, and wear leather. I dont think this makes me a bad person, because like i said i dont agree with animal cruelty or animals being killed for fashion.
This might make me a hipocrite but im being honest.
Im an animal lover and have 2 cats.

I know Peta has a bad reputation but seriously although I think some of their methods are quite extreme, they get things done.
Speaking of animal cruelty, I wish people would please, just get a conscience. But it seems so hard to change the world nowadays cos the demand will always fucking be there and sadistic countries like China will always be supplying dead animals for money. I wish more people with power would step up and do something to help the animals.

To *Meagan* – In response to your “too pornographic for a PETA ad…” – Is that because this young woman star in the “Twilight” movie(s)? Or is it because she’s naked? I don’t think she’s the only one who’s done this.

Doesn’t PETA run ads like this several times a year? If I remember correctly the slogan, “I’d rather go naked than wear fur” is their calling card… Models, actresses, etc. have gotten naked “for the cause”. I tend not to remember these things (not blessed with an eidetic memory) but I know it’s NOT the 1st time they’ve done this… Hell! Even guys have stripped for PETA.

Doubt they can be labeled “pornographic” since no “naughty bits” are showing… That’s like saying the Venus de Milo or Michelangelo’s “David” are pornographic. Trust me – They aren’t!

I do support people who advocate for animal rights’ – PETA’s far too radical an organization for me to respond to with any enthusiasm – The message is good, not the messengers… Same feeling I get re: “Amnesty International”. Their fight for human right’s violations gets a big thumbs up from me… UNTIL I found out years ago that they were fighting to get a serial killer (forget who – nasty guy, nasty crime) off death row & OUT ON THE STREETS!

I think its awesome that you support PETA, I am also glad you have done your research on that matter. However, so have I. From what I have seen and read PETA turns their nose up at anyone who isn’t vegan. They are trying to get children to become vegans. While it is fine to educate people, they don’t list everything. Instead they just put what they WANT people to see. Children need meat, they need protein to grow. Pushing your beliefs on others isn’t the best thing to do. They are in fact wanting to kill more animals then they save. When a baby bear was abandoned PETA wanted to euthanize it instead of letting it be raised in captivity. Isn’t that mindless killing? My thoughts on the matter may seem wrong to you, but those are my beliefs on it. PETA doesn’t mind killing an animal to make their point, which is contradiction to what they ‘stand’ for.

Christian Serratos doesn’t “think” animal cruelty is wrong like you falsely state. She KNOWS animal cruelty is wrong. Also, you have no idea how much research she has done, and whether or not she is a Peta member and animal rights activist like me and others, who believes in and support Peta’s animal euthansia program. Peta does care about animals, saves countless animal lives each year, and tries very, very, hard to help animals. Just because you disagree with thier position on animal euthanasia, doesn’t give you the right to make the claim that they don’t.

Animal Euthanasia is a very controversial issue and there are points to be made on both sides of the argument. However, I would highly suggest not blacklisting an entire organization because you disagree with a few of thier policies or thier position on euthansia

Your claim that “PETA kills more animals a year then those that they ’save’.” is COMPLETLEY false. The amount of animals Peta saves by convincing designers to go fur-free, getting cosmetics companies to stop testing on animals, and urging animal testing laboratories to switch to more humane animal free testing alternatives far outweighs the small amount of animals who cannot find homes, or are so sick/abused that they have to be put down.

Sadly, if you would have actually researched the issue yourself instead of suggesting that’s what Christian should do, you would know that the website PetaKillsAnimals.com is run by a very unethical organization called the Center For Consumer Freedom. This organization is made up of people and organizations in the meat/dairy/animaltesting/animal circus industry that support some of the most grotesque forms of animal cruelty around and whose object it is to discredit PETA . They are also funded by tobacco and alcohol lobbyists, and are against and are working to discredit MADD (Mothers against Drunk Driving) and Anti-Smoking for children groups. Giving money to Peta is not giving them permission to kill animals, as they are various sections of the organization that you can donate or sponser like The Investigations and Rescue fund or the Angel for Animals doghouse sponsorship, that have nothing to do with animal euthanasia whatsoever.

On one final note,I have seen what happens to animals in overcrowded shelters that do not get adopted. They pace thier cages and bite/stare through the bars all day long out of boredom, with nothing more than a chew toy to play with, always watching the other dogs get adopted for being cuter and or younger. They live in isolatation and sadness, and deal with abandonment, fear and depression day after day. Eventually animals begin to suffer extreme mental illness and hover in corners, die of starvation from not eating due to depression, experience hairloss from stress, turn around in circles all day long, and rip out thier own skin and hair. They also begin playing with and eating thier own feces out of extreme cases of depression and boredom.

In the future, please not not judge an organization becuase of one of it’s policies, as there will never be an organization in whcih you agree and support all of it’s policies.

For her, I think this was a smart move because it will get her attention and consideration for other types of roles. For the franchise, it will probably help as long as there isn’t major parent backlash. As they say, any publicity (for movie series or actress) is good…

So I know I already left a comment on this, but I’d like to add something. While I’d like to see Kellan in the buff too, for something against fur coats, I’d rather he and other celebrities work with a different animal loving group(such as SPCA and other such things) You know, people who actually care and try and help animals.

While I understand Christian Serratos wanted to do this because she thought animal cruelty was wrong. She should have looked more into the organization that PETA is. Because while she and other celebrities continue to support PETA by doing these ads, they also continue to give PETA the freedom to do what they are doing.

I know what she is trying to get across. N’ as I mentioned in my earlier post, I’m against animal cruelty and using an animal’s fur for coats. But supporting PETA is like your pretty much giving them permission to let them kill animals.

The fur ads you might see in magazines and commercials portray fur coats as a symbol of elegance. But these ads fail to show how the original owners of these coats met their gruesome deaths.

Millions of fur-bearing animals including foxes, raccoons, minks, coyotes, bobcats, lynxes, opossums, nutria, beavers, muskrats, otters, and others are killed each year on fur farms by anal and vaginal electrocution and in the wild by drowning, trapping, or beating.
