I love Snoopy, the Smurf, and Kermit! The wiener dog was cute, too! I went to see the balloons being inflated on Wednesday night. Very crowded but worth it. I’ve never been to the parade, so this was the closest I’ve ever been to the balloons. So cool to see them up close! If you’re on the East Coast for Thanksgiving next year you should check it out. (We also saw Mariska Hargitay from L&O SVU there with her son. They were on the other side of the barrier. :) )

After listening to my friends rave about Pokemon for the past… few months, I’m not quite convinced that the ‘fad’ has died.
There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about watching this parade, isn’t there?

Your comment about Pikachu makes me sort of realize the parade is also a sort of living history of pop culture. The smurf balloon is still in the parade although they’re certainly no longer current, as well as other characters who were added at the peak of their popularity and still retained today.

I know that Pokemon is back in full gear here in Canada! Apparently all the little kids are still in love with it 10+ years later. :D Very happy to see Pikachu still included as well.
