Taylor Swift Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’
Keeps the Kanye talk to a bare minimum

Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift played host on Saturday Night Live last night and, in my humble estimation, did a pretty good job bringing the funny and holding her own as SNL host. As usual, some of the SNL skits fell flat but overall there were a few funny bits that actually made me laugh … so Taylor deffo scores points there. Here are a few of Taylor Swift‘s SNL promo bump photos featured on the show last night:

I think pretty much everyone was waiting to see how many times Kanye West (who infamously and very rudely interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards back in September and ignited a firestorm of controversy in the process) would be mentioned or parodied but the Kanye talk was almost nonexistent. SNL referenced the incident in Taylor‘s opening monologue and it got another nod in the Hollywood Dish skit but that was pretty much it. To be honest, I’m glad that last night wasn’t at all about Kanye … the less said about that a-hole, the better. After the jump, watch video of Taylor‘s opening SNL monologue (and hear her performance of The Monologue Song) and watch a few of my fave SNL skits featuring Swift as featured last night in full …

Taylor Swift‘s monologue:

Firelight (A Twilight parody):

The View (Taylor Swift portraying Kate Gosselin):

Hollywood Dish:

Roomies:

Again … not all the gags were winners but all in all, I think Taylor Swift did a pretty good job hosting … and she managed to make me chuckle and chortle a few times so … mission: accomplished. Did you watch Taylor Swift host SNL last night? What did y’all think?

Trent, you left out the opening skit on Fox News! I thought that was one of the funniest ones. Although the “Firelight” skit was pretty funny too.

  2. Meagan says:

I thought she was pretty good! The convicts skit was awful, and the roommate one wasn’t the funniest, but overall she did a great job!! She’s such a good sport. My favourite was when she started singing “ha ha ha” in the monologue after the Joe comment – priceless!

  3. Aurora says:

The Firelight sketch was the best one! She had the Bella lipsuck thing down pat! I think she did a great job and held her own up ther! The Monolouge Song was GREAT! I was IMPRESSED!

  4. Gwen says:

    U left out the T.R.A.A.A.P 1!!
(The 1 where she said that teens r always getting
blamed 4 txting and driving when sometimes its
    the parents fault)
    That 1 was Hilarious!

So just one question – was the off-key singing meant to be part of the joke??

@kendra… she’s 19. i loved the show. the monologue song was the best followed by firelight. pretty good i thought and i loved the convict skit, but i love it when the cast members start giggling. it warms my heart and bill heder started to lose it so i LOVED IT!!!

I didnt see kate gosselin on the view, but from what i gather she did a good impression of her appearance. I liked the opening monologue….loved the reference to taylor lautner! (and joe jonas!) and that just made the twilight parody even funnier. Gwen you’re right, T.R.A.A.P.D was one of the more decent ones as well. Overall she did rather well when you consider how other musical guests/hosts have faired. Shes not JT but then again hes in a complete league of his own when it comes to this show.

  11. Doo says:

the funniest thing in firelight was the lip biting, lol, Kristin was doing it almost all the time in twilight ;)

My favorite were the Monologue Song and Firelight.
The convicts was only funny towards the end, when everyone started breaking.

Okay, you gotta admit that monologue song a.k.a LA-LA-LA was really adorable, wouldn’t be any better if Taylor swift is not the one who sang that song!
as for the anti-fans who say its booring… I say, “are you kidding me? You should open your eye balls a little bit and turn-on your sense of humor even once”

All the juiciest info plus the firelight video: Twilight Spoof: http://bit.ly/taylor-swift-on-.....ight-video

Never seen Swift as a vampire… LOL..peace out!

  19. Ashley says:

OMG I thought she did so amazingly well. Usually I skip through all the skits just to get to Samberg, but I watched the whole thing and laughed at about 90 percent of it.
The beginning song and Firelight were so funny and I loved her retainer skit.
Give that girl a puppy and she’ll take over the world.

  20. CHASE says:

I loved it and I love her! I am so buying her album. : )
