Milo Ventimiglia, Sophia Bush & Austin Nichols Visit The US Troops Overseas
Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia and One Tree Hill stars Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols (who also hails from Ann Arbor, MI) have made their way to Germany and Turkey to visit the US troops stationed there this Thanksgiving holiday in order to bring some cheer and love from home. Here is a poster advertising their USO Tour appearance and some deets from their visit:

One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols are spending their Thanksgiving holiday this year fulfilling exactly what the holiday is about; giving thanks to others. The young stars, along with Heroes’s Milo Ventimiglia, are currently overseas generously giving their time and talent to the troops and their families stationed in Germany and Turkey. Nichols, Bush, and Ventimiglia held meet&greets the mornings of Nov. 20 and 21st in Ramstein, Germany, where they signed autographs and posed for pictures with the service members and their families. According to the official website for the USO, what the TV trio is doing leaves the troops and their family members with the most lasting emotional impressions. “USO entertainers are essential to fulfilling the USO’s mission of boosting troop morale”. Bush and Nichols are no strangers to donating their time and efforts to help the morale of others in need. This past September they both helped to raise money at the ‘Celebrity Autograph Fund-raiser’ for a memorial wall honoring fallen police officers to be built in Wilmington, NC, where ‘One Tree Hill is filmed. Bush said as a child she was always encouraged by her parents to do charity work. Now the 27-year-old actress says she wants to give that same motivation to others. “I think people have lost sight of how important it is to give back”, Bush told Star News recently. Clearly Bush has not lost sight of giving back; she is a 2009 spokesperson for the Teachers Count campaign, and a long-time advocate for The Art of Elysium, which places emphasis on the importance of the arts in the lives of children battling serious medical conditions. The next stop where Sophia Bush, Austin Nichols, and Milo Ventimiglia will place emphasis on the needs of others will be Turkey, at the Incirlik and Izmir Air Bases, where they will be until the completion of their USO tour on Nov. 25.
These actors are amazing for giving so generously of their time this Thanksgiving season to be with the troops overseas who cannot be home with their families. After the jump, check out a couple photos of Milo, Sophia and Austin at one of their recent USO Tour events …

As some of you may recall, this is not the first time that Milo has journeyed overseas to be with the troops. He spent his birthday with the US Troops stationed in the Middle East last year. Lets send all of our love and appreciation for the troops who are serving to protect our country and wish them the happiest of Thanksgivings! Much love and props goes out to Milo, Sophia and Austin for being so cool :)

I’m such a HUGE Sophia Bush fan, and this is one of the reasons why. She is truly beautiful, inside and out!
P.S. Rumours are swirling that she and Austin are an item.

As supportive as I am of all USO events for my brethren over in foreign countries, I feel that more recognition should be placed upon those that are willing to visit troops in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Kuwait. I am also especially thankful to those actors that come out to those of us that are on deployments on SHIPS for six months or more. We hardly see land, get limited connection with our families….it is a trying time for us Sailors when it comes to deployments at sea.
Thank you, members of the USO and actors that are willing to give us the time of day.

Personally I think that the actual troops serving overseas, whether in Europe or the Middle East, should be the ones lauded for their time and sacrifice, not the celebrities that pop in to say “hey”. Though, I guess this is a celebrity-news blog, not a support-(y)our-troops blog. Just trying to inject some perspective….

As much as I agree with Anna I only question the ability of actors to get into those areas. I can’t imagine the cost of security to bring actors into countries such as Iraq and Afghanistan. I know that diplomats and political figures go in quite a bit, but I’m not sure if the USO has the funds or the pull to secure celebrities.
As I am neither in the military or government I don’t know the answer so I’m kind of throwing it out there as a question for people who know better.

I was actualyl kind of thinking the opposite… the soldiers who are deployed in non danger zones without their families also deserve visits, attention, and love from us, even if they don’t usually get attention because their ‘not in the middle east/afghanistan.” It seems most of the attention these days is focused on the soldiers in those areas, when in reality ALL of our soldiers shold be recognized.
