oh my stars above – some folks put on their nuttyboots this morning!

leaving aside the fact that this is a celebrity gossip site (and that people seem to be reacting with dismay that this particular post reminds them too much of another celebrity gossip site) trent’s persona on here is exactly that: a persona. and his persona has a longstanding giddy crush on jake g. he calls him “jakey poo” for heaven’s sake. it’s a construction in the name of fun. and it IS fun. that’s understood. is it not? what i see here is trent speaking from his own reaction to the news, through his persona on this site. it’s silly, and understood to be snarky. yes? no? i highly doubt if trent were standing in a room with reese witherspoon he’d be pointing and laughing at her. i also highly doubt that if reese witherspoon read this thing, she’d take any offense.

that said, can we get off the whole “poor reese” thing? what if she dumped him? (provided it was a real relationship, and not one management company dumping the other management company.) aren’t women allowed to seek elsewhere, or to make up and/or change their minds, rather than be passive players in their own (romantic) lives? if not, i’ve been doing things VERY wrong for while now…. yikes.

further, some posts here outstrip any “rude” comments by trent pretty much by light years. can someone explain that phenomenon to me? “how dare you be happy jake is single – you @(*$^(@*$^*@&#*@ – i wish the WORST for you in your personal life! blahblahviciousblah!!!!” it reads like bloodthirst. calm the eff down.

the reason why a lot of people go to your blog trent is because you have a heart. A lot of us don’t like some person like Perez who destroys celebs like this. Doing cartwheels because any 2 people break up (short of an abusive relationship) is truly heartless

@erin — Yeah, I can’t help but laugh at all the “you’re so mean” comments. Clearly, many folks do not remember (or were not here) for the many years of Jake love I posted way back in the pre-Brokeback days (back when he was with Kirsten Dunst). That people honestly think I’m seriously being mean about a supposed break-up is so insanely funny to me. People, lighten up … it’s all in good fun. And for the record, I didn’t actually do cartwheels … I’m not a fan of cardio, duh. Besides I’m very happy with David and do no seriously want to be with Jake G. LOL. It’s so silly!!!

So my first reaction was “wow Trent, that was kinda mean”. But I remember letting out a big happy squeal when I found out that Benji and Paris broke up and joking about giving him his shots so he’d be doable again. Anyway, yeah, I didn’t get bitched at for that because I didn’t say it on a blog read by who knows how many people each day. But it’s Trent’s blog, he can say what he wants. If he wants to be giddy about the chance that his celeb crush is on the market again, let him be giddy. I don’t agree with everything he says, sometimes I get a little offended. But I always keep in mind that he’s entitled to his own opinion, and when it comes down to it, Trent is nowhere near as offensive as a lot of others. Besides babe, you crack my shit up sometimes, and despite what anyone says, you cover a lot of tricky news with more class than anyone else. Keep on keepin on, and be sure to post a pic when you do get to meet Jake.
