Woooooooot!!! People magazine is reporting today that Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon HAVE BROKEN-UP!! GyllenSpoon are DUNZO, Y’ALL!!!
People first tweeted the good news:

And then they posted the “full story” online:
Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have split, a source close to the actress tells PEOPLE. No further details were given.
You’ll pardon me whilst I go do cartwheels all over my apartment (then out the door and down the street) despite the minimal details … I’ll update the story should any new deets become available … but can I just say WOOOOOOOOOOT!!! one more time?! Jakey poo is single again … and all is, once again, right with the world.
UPDATE: People have posted a new info from reps for both Jake and Reese that deny that the couple have broken up:
Despite reports, Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal are still very much a couple, according to their reps. Although a source close to the couple says their relationship has ended, reps for both say, “it is not true.” Nanci Ryder and Carrie Byalick, who rep Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal respectively, tell PEOPLE, “They are still together.”
Boo. I mean, I guess I’d expect the reps to deny a report like this but … well … I went and got my hopes up and everything. I guess we’ll have to see if these two rush out to be photographed together to see where things stand. At least I got in a few cartwheels when the initial story broke … it was deffo fun while it lasted ;)

As for Witherppe, besides that being very difficult to spell, that ship has sailed. So my first reaction was “wow Trent, that was kinda mean”. But I remember letting out a big happy squeal when I found out that Benji and Paris broke up and joking about giving him his shots so he’d be doable again. leaving aside the fact that this is a celebrity gossip site (and that people seem to be reacting with dismay that this particular post reminds them too much of another celebrity gossip site) trent’s persona on here is exactly that: a persona. and his persona has a longstanding giddy crush on jake g. he calls him “jakey poo” for heaven’s sake. it’s a construction in the name of fun. and it IS fun. that’s understood. is it not? what i see here is trent speaking from his own reaction to the news, through his persona on this site. it’s silly, and understood to be snarky. yes? no? i highly doubt if trent were standing in a room with reese witherspoon he’d be pointing and laughing at her. i also highly doubt that if reese witherspoon read this thing, she’d take any offense.
that said, can we get off the whole “poor reese” thing? what if she dumped him? (provided it was a real relationship, and not one management company dumping the other management company.) aren’t women allowed to seek elsewhere, or to make up and/or change their minds, rather than be passive players in their own (romantic) lives? if not, i’ve been doing things VERY wrong for while now…. yikes.
further, some posts here outstrip any “rude” comments by trent pretty much by light years. can someone explain that phenomenon to me? “how dare you be happy jake is single – you @(*$^(@*$^*@&#*@ – i wish the WORST for you in your personal life! blahblahviciousblah!!!!” it reads like bloodthirst. calm the eff down.
