Does anyone realize that Karate was developed in Okinawa, Japan and Kung Fu was developed in China….so my guess is this movie might have had a chance had it been named ummm I don’t know….Kung Fu Kid. Just Sad.

Sad. Why mess with a classic? My 8 and 10 year old girls love The Karate Kid. Everytime it comes on, the whole family sits around and watches as if we’ve never seen it before. How many movies can we really say that about now a days??

well i love will smith, and i want to see if his son inherited his acting skills.
so i probably will watch it.

but i understand your point too. it is kinda lame how theyre making a new one. it is classic.

I don’t know why they need to make a remake. I love the original and sequel (pretend KK3 and the Hilary Swank ones don’t exist lol).
I’m really tired of all the remakes…Fame was just dreadful, although to be honest, the first one was never that great anyway (spoiled by too much unnecessary bad language), but still, there was no need to redux it.
Remakes are as bad as making movies from TV shows. They never seem to work.

Eh, I don’t know. It may be good, it might not. For younger kids who haven’t seen the first ‘Karate Kid’ This may be an interesting movie for them. The adults however, can watch their original version instead of seeing the new one :)

On another subject, has anyone seen the trailers for that new movie Jackie Chan is in. The one where he plays a babysitter while being a secret agent. Isn’t that kind of just a remake of ‘The Pacifier’? I was kind of thinking it looked like it might be an okay movie, until I saw that Billy Ray Cyrus was in it. Then I cringed and decided I wouldn’t see it XD

Normally, I would be slightly annoyed with this remake, but I’m such a sucker for Jaden Smith lol. He’s just such a cute kid, and he seems really dedicated to his work, so I can appreciate that. I don’t think it’ll be as good as the original, but that’s ok. After all, I did like the Hilary Swank one even though that’s nowhere near as good as the original either :D.
