‘Good Morning America’ Cancels Adam Lambert
After ABC reportedly received over 1,500 complaints over Adam Lambert’s “shocking” performance on the 2009 American Music Awards on Sunday night, Good Morning America has decided to cancel his scheduled appearance and performance on their show tomorrow morning. It looks like Glambert ended up alienating more people than he did entertaining them:

The people who didn’t like Adam Lambert’s “American Music Awards” performance won’t have to worry about a repeat performance on “Good Morning America” — cause that gig is canceled. Leading a guy around on a leash and kissing another was apparently too much for ABC. A rep for the show told TV Newser, “Given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.” Ironically enough, Lambert announced he was gay on “20/20″ earlier this year — which airs on ABC.
While this controversy may not be great for his image (or for record sales) it’s not the end of the world for him … yet. My guess is another show on a competing network will snap him up for an appearance just so they can ask him about the controversy (perhaps to cast ABC in a negative light). BUT … if Glambert keeps up this need to create controversy just for the sake of generating buzz, I fear his music career has nowhere to go but down. You don’t really hear anyone talking about his debut album For Your Entertainment which was released for sale yesterday … all people are talking about is his “shocking” AMAs performance. I wasn’t shocked or entertained by his performance … but I am not his target audience. If he wants to have a career he’s gonna hafta play nice with folks eventually … I guess we’ll have to see if he’s up for the task.

“shocking” performance… shockingly bad. i hadn’t heard him sing live, just a clip of his horrid single from 2012. wow. just… wow.

You know, he just needs to realize he isn’t famous enough to pull of that kind of thing. Honestly, he is right about there being a double standard with women being overtly sexual and now him doing the same thing and not getting away with it. But 1) those were women like Britt and Madona and 2) Why does he want to objectify himself? Women FIGHT to be more than sexual objects. So he is fighting to become one? WEIRDO! I was a fan, but he is just out of control.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I’m so sick of him! I’ve been so sick of him since the minute he stepped onto America Idol. I want him to just go away. THAT being said, I do think ABC is ridiculous for canceling him because of his AMA performance. No one canceled Britney after she kissed Madonna. I do agree with Adam that it’s all a big double standard. WHO really cares that he kissed a guy on national television. The gay couples on Desperate Housewives, and on Privileged were kissing. What’s so different? Now go away Glambert, GO AWAYY!!!

This isn’t about him kissing a guy. I’m pretty sure it’s about him “simulating oral sex” with a dancer and the crotch grabbing of his dancers or the dancers on him.
Or maybe they canceled him because they realized he can’t perform and they just wanted a different excuse.

hahaha Lynsey…They probably have realized he can’t perform and didn’t want to him his screeching like a dying cat all morning.

RumerMills.com makes a good point, hope this doesn’t destroy Adam’s carreer the way the “I Want to Break Free” video did for Queen.
Personally I loved the performance thought it was incredible but agree it was a little inappropriate for the audience.

I agree with CoCo: He wasn’t famous enough to pull off that kind of thing.

I think this whole performance was done to create controversy and thus create interest for the new album. They took it a little too far and it backfired. I just don’t think Lambert has the cred to have pulled this off. Plus, he sounds terrible. He is no Madonna, Britney or Queen! They gambled and lost. I think Adam will fade away.

I had no idea he had a CD coming out yesterday! I have no intention to buy it but I wonder how poorly it is going to do because of that performance. Who wants to go and buy his CD after he showcased what a shitty singer he is!!

You know I would have considered myself a fan of Adam Lambert… i thought he was just fantastic on American Idol. He looked great, different, unique and had an awesome voice. But I have been SO disappointed with what he’s come out with… his wretched 2012 collabo and song… his wretched over the top album cover, his ridiculous new single and now this performance? His performance would have been good if he actually focused on his singing (like you said before Trent) and it would have even been okay if he still used the dancers he did… but the stripper poles, the leash, the rubbing people’s crotches… what the hell? It’s TOO much! He’s just TRYING to piss people off and that’s ridiculous. I’m very disappointed in what Adam has made of himself…

You know it’s funny. I assumed that a lot of people visiting this website would be the type of people who would like Adam Lambert, but judging from comments, that doesn’t seem to be the case. It seems he’s alienating a lot of people. Middle America is offended, and everyone else is appalled at the attention seeking. I’m not even sure who his audience is anymore.

I’m disappointed in Adam thus far. I loved him on AI and had high hopes for him. I do think he’s really talented, I wish he would let people see his TALENT not just his crazy antics on stage.
November 24th, 2009 at 10:30 am
I think that’s ridiculous….His new album is really, really good and his performance was entertaining. Adam will have the last laugh because this is just creating more and more buzz for him in the long run!

The preformance was good, screw the convestative mofos that can’t even enjoy the music.

Everyone is crying homophobia on ABC’s part. However, they only censored the performance because of the explicit oral sex simulation. I believe they’d do that regardless of the artist and genders involved. After all, they didn’t censor the same-sex kiss.
All that said, I still found the song pretty meh, and the performance about the same. If I were him, I’d be more worried about that than ABC.

Honestly, It was quite a wonderful preformance. Sure it got people talking and was a bit racy, but with todays other preformers, He was just fantastic. I wish others would not be so negative about artists who show who they are.

His performance was not shocking, it was nothing new, original or fresh. His look is borrowed from Bowie and glam rock. I am not an AI fan, so if Glambert wanted to reel me in as a new fan, he failed, miserably! If he really wanted to generate some buzz, he should have used this golden voice that I have heard so many people rave about, but he chose to screech into the mic instead. As for ABC bumping him from GMA, I feel it was more related to the simulated oral sex and crotch grabs than it was related to the kiss. Personally, I was most offended by him grabbing the female dancer’s crotch.

EW is reporting that The Early Show on CBS has snatched him up. Can’t say I’m surprised. I have never been a fan of his voice (to shrill for me), but I think he is using the wrong tactics if he is trying to gain new fans this week.
November 24th, 2009 at 10:56 am
Kyleigh….I agree with your post.
Except I watched AI and he screeched on that show also.
I hear cbs already scooped him up to perform

I agree with his comments about “double standards” but that’s Hollywood for ya. And I agree with what everyone else about him being a new face and him going too far with his debut performance. Obviously there is conflict in the U.S. over sex and sexuality and how it should be dealt with in the media. He just went too far too soon. He’s not famous yet by any standards. If he wanted to get people’s tongues wagging, he got it and then some. Now he’s going to have to deal with the backlash.
His ending scream was the final straw for me. I can’t stand singers that feel the need to show off their vocals in that way. That also goes for Christina, Whitney, Mariah, and so on. I would like to hear more singing, not some over-the-top wailing.

1500 calls is really not that much considering the millions of people who watched the show live, and the number of people who watched it on Youtube afterwards. I didn’t follow American Idol, but I did see a couple of his performances from that show on Youtube, and thought that he has talent. However, I didn’t like his AMA performance at all…not because of the sexuality (hello, crotches have been grabbed for decades now on TV!), but because of his awful singing. He seemed too focused on the maze he was walking through, and not on what was coming out of his mouth. Way screechy.
November 24th, 2009 at 11:37 am
it’s not fair, end of story. regardless of how you feel about his singing or whatever over-the-top antics he does, a female entertainer would’ve gotten away with it. how many times has britney simulated oral sex by putting a man’s face in her crotch? lady gaga simulates masturbation in her new video and that’s not edited out. i’m no fan of this boy, but i know when something isn’t right. hopefully he learns to tone it down when the situation calls for it, though.

I just want to thank you for not being all gung ho about his performance and GMA canceling his performance just because you are a homosexual male as well unlike some other celeb blog we all know about.
Truth be told, it isn’t the kiss it’s the oral sex that was disgusting. However, I would think it was disgusting even if it were two females or a male and a female. There’s a time and place for that and a music award is not one of them.
It isn’t about anyone being homophobic but that the decision he made was a horribly bad one that just was uncalled for. No double standards. If he wants to do oral sex simulations on stage perhaps he should go into the porn business.

I just complained to ABC for pulling him. SO THERE! lol.
He has great vocals usually. If his voice isn’t your cup of tea, so be it. I can’t stand Beyonce and most of what passes for talent these days. I like him because he has the possibility to be something a little different. His new records is under the umbrella of AI, correct? They have a lot of influence on that album I think.
November 24th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
@Bren – How is he different? Like I said in my previous post, he’s basically a Bowie-wannabe! He’s borrowing a page from Madonna’s playbook, but employing it badly! He is recycling schticks from other artists, turning up the vulgarity and turning down the talent, and trying to pass it off as fresh and edgy.
November 24th, 2009 at 10:29 pm
I have been of fan of Lambert’s since AI’s top 36 show. He does have that special “something.” However , that AMA spectacle was nothing short of a trainwreck. How can he blame the Nokia Theatre when Kelly Clarkson was spot on with her vocals? I agree with the others who said that for a debut, he attempted too much too soon. The boy possess great talent, but he’s going about it all wrong. I fear he’s up to minute 14.
