First Look: Cobra Starship, ‘Hot Mess’

Back in June we got our first look at the Cobra Starship music video for the song Good Girls Go Bad (which featured Gossip Girl actress and wannabe singer Leighton Meester on vocals) and just last month we saw Starship frontman Gabe Saporta get inked onto Pete Wentz’s leg in a new tattoo. Today we get our first look at the new Cobra Starship music video for the title track of their new album Hot Mess:

Love Cobra Starship!! This band makes such fun music and they are, seriously, among the nicest people around. I’m so happy to see that they are doing well. The video is hawt, right?

1. This song is awful. I don’t mean to hate but wow. I know Gabe said his voice isn’t the best (and he’s right) but his voice sounds truly awful in this song. Vocal lessons?
2. I’m kind of annoyed how women are only subjected to being a hot mess because they don’t act like a “lady” 24/7 or they’re intoxicated so therefore the phrase “hot mess” comes into play. I know this song isn’t meant to be taken seriously but it still associates with the double standard of un-referring men to being a “hot mess” or therefore men are never a hot mess.
3. The chorus is the best part of song but that’s pretty much it.

@Gwen – Cobra Starship are like, people who pick up the “hot mess” girls when they see them. Sort of like a garbage man picking up trash when he sees it, I suppose. Bad analogy but you get the idea.

I love Cobra Starship. They won’t be winning any Grammies or anything but I love dancing to “Hot Mess” before a night out. Like you said Trent, very fun music!

well it’s not like a male singer is going to be singing about men he thinks are a hot mess lol
and i think it’s a very fun song i think his voice is just fine

funny story about gabe–back when i was in high school he was in a band called midtown, who were HUGE in the nj music scene. one of my really good friends recorded some demo’s for them, and since he knew what a huge midtown fan i was, he invited me to come hang out for the day. when he mentioned this to gabe, gabe told him he didnt want a girl in the studio because females’ opinions of music are (and i quote) “worthless.” he’s a douche to the max.
