Donny Osmond Wins The 2009 ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Championship
Which is complete and UTTER bullshizz, IMHO

Last night, the voting public and judges of the the ABC show Dancing with the Stars decided to name Donny Osmond as the new Dancing with the Stars champion … much to my complete horror and chagrin. Now granted I didn’t watch one second of the competition this season so I’m prolly not in the best position to speak so forcefully but I cannot, for the life of me, imagine that Donny Osmond gave a more successful performance over the amazing Mya (who was also in competition on DWTS this season) … but alas, ’tis so … Osmond ended up winning the championship in the end:

Donny Osmond was declared the new champion of “Dancing With Stars” on Tuesday night, taking home the show’s mirror ball trophy in the season finale of the ABC contest reality program. Osmond, the former teen pop star of the singing Osmond family, said the show has been a highlight in a career of ups and downs. “I did it!” Osmond exclaimed. He promptly rushed to the audience and plucked out his wife, Debbie, whom he carried across the stage. Helping push Osmond over the top was the tango he performed Tuesday with his professional dancing partner, Kym Johnson. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba hailed it as “artistry in motion.” It earned the top score of the final performances. Three celebrities made it to the finale of the show’s ninth season — Osmond, Mya and Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. The show picks a winner with a combination of judges’ scores and viewer votes. Mya entered as the favorite, having won the highest scores on Monday’s show. Dancing with Dmitry Chaplin, she performed a jive. “I’m just so happy to have made it to the finals,” Mya said after the loss. The 30-year-old singer is most famous for collaborating on the Grammy-winning hit “Lady Marmalade” from the soundtrack of 2001′s “Moulin Rouge!” Osbourne was the first of the three eliminated. With her famous family — Ozzy, Sharon and Jack — looking on, Osbourne and professional partner Louis Van Amstel danced to a cover of Ray LaMontagne’s “Trouble.” The 25-year-old was clearly moved and began crying after her last dance. She thanked the audience and said she had “grown so much” during the show. Co-host Samantha Harris said Osbourne had become “a swan.” The finale culminated a season of good ratings for “Dancing With the Stars,” which consistently ranked as one of the most-watched shows of the fall.

HMMM … isn’t that interesting … Mya, who I understand performed consistently and almost perfectly thruout the entire competition, scored the highest score on Monday night for the last judged performance and she still lost to Donny Osmond — who, I might add, was on Entertainment Tonight (an entertainment “news” program) on a semi-nightly basis whipping up support from viewers. I suspect Osmond, who is a staunch Mormon, prolly received a lot of support from the more conservative voters as well. To be honest, I’m not at all surprised … the show is a joke. After Melanie Brown lost on the show when she should’ve won and after Lance Bass also lost when he should’ve won, I no longer have any confidence in this crappy show as an actual determiner of dancing skill. But, I digress. After the jump, check out photos of the three finalists — Mya, Osbourne and Osmond — on ABC‘s Good Morning America earlier today …

Meh. The whole thing is a farce. Ya know, I’m not sure why I care so much but when I heard that Mya lost to Donny freakin’ Osmond I just kinda lost it. I’m gonna go on the record and call this season’s result a pile of horse poop. Mya got robbed, that’s all there is to say.

LOL Trent, my thoughts exactly. Your irateness is hilarious to me, because I was acting the same way. “I’m not sure why I care so much but when I heard that Mya lost to Donny freakin’ Osmond I just kinda lost it.” hahaha.

I really, really, REALLY dislike this show and I am definately in no way ‘conservative’ but I watched the stupid finally last night with my mother who loves the show and I would have voted for either Donny or Kelly if I’d been inclined to do such a thing. I do not think this show is meant to crown the BEST dancer especially since a lot of that is opinion but I do think it’s sort of a popularity contest and Kelly is lovable… Donny is lovable..and yea cheesy as hell but still adorable…Mya is just eh… she didnt show much personality at all from what I could see and I have no idea who she is…she does look beautiful dancing though…they all did.

  3. Lana says:

I think everyone kind of roots for the underdog. Mya is already a trained dancer so people are more inclined to vote for those who are really learning it.

Regardless, I think this show is dumb and I am amazed at how well it does.

@Lana your last sentence took the words right off my keyboard

  5. Mr. Gyllenhaal says:

I thought Kelly looked great! I didn’t watch this show either but I agree with trent. Just like American Idol…this shit is always rigged!

  6. This show needs renaming to “Dancing with the D-List”. Srsly.

I watch the show, and used to like it. However, this year (and last) there seemed to be a lot of crappy contestants staying on longer and some good one being booted way too early. It’s all about who has the most “fans”, in their off the dance floor careers. Michael Irvin sucked this year, yet he made it more than half way through. Must have gotten all the straight women votes who maybe found him hot.
In any case. This was my last year of watching. Joanna Krupa & Derrick Hough were by far the best. Should have won. But I guess she just didn’t have the Mormon fan base behind her. The show is now a joke.

Now Trent, it is most definitely NOT a “crappy show.” It, as well as “So You Think You Can Dance,” has really brought dancing to the public in a way that has never been done before. I love it for that. With these type of reality shows (i.e., American Idol) where the public has the biggest vote, it is always going to be a popularity show and not who is the “best.” Yes sometimes it is frustrating (hello, Sanjaya?) but I love it none the same!!

  9. Woodroad34 says:

I love this show….it shows more class than any reality show on the air. With that said, I believe Mya had been consistently the best dancer (and while I know that it’s a popularity contest, technique and style count for alot). Donnie, while a good dancer, was always a PT Barnum/Las Vegas showman and definitely NOT better than Mya, who had the grace, lines, styling, and Yes–personality, of a dancer–I should know because I danced for 10 years. It has to be said that my thinking is also colored because of Donnie’s adamant anti-gay marriage stance.

  10. Mary says:

I stayed up late and I felt that Mya was robbed of her trophy. I should’ve just went to bed. Donny shouldn’t have even been in the final 3! What a joke!

  11. anne says:

BOOO i knew when he did his free style dance and wowed the judges, he was going to win : (
    Mya was Robbed~
    Kelly was adorable!
    Over It

  12. Andrew says:

Seriously, you guys are disgusting – including trent. You are all just religious haters and are disgustingly prejudice. Who cares that he’s Mormon? Why does Trent have to include that in his post? Do you include “staunch Jew” or “staunch Catholic” in your other posts? Seriously, you need to grow up and take the blinders from your eyes. There are different people in this world, not just your hollywood friends.

  13. Kendra says:

I was hoping Kelly would win..To me, she showed the most heart and overcame more than Mya (who has an extensive background in dancing) and Donny (who has been an entertainer since he was a boy!)..Mya showed no personality and Donny showed way too much..Kelly was herself and I have so much more respect for the girl now..Granted, I only watched bits and pieces of a few episodes, but I feel that it was Kelly, and not Mya, who was totally robbed..

  14. Shellslove says:

@Andrew – I hate to be ‘that guy’ but really? C’mon, aren’t you overreacting here? I’d like to preempt this by saying I have only watched a couple eps of this show, but I didn’t see anything wrong with what Trent said. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I did not interpret what he said as prejudice. He was not mocking the Mormon faith, but merely pointing out this probably gained the conservative vote for Osmond. He went on to call the show ‘a joke’ because it was based on a popularity vote and not the talent of the individual. I see how you might take it the wrong way, but my interpretation was that he was peeved that the show is based on a popularity contest – not because Osmond is Mormon.

That being said, if you are familiar with PITNB, I think you can pretty much anticipate how T would react to certain things, given his outspoken nature and transparency (by which I mean honesty) in his writing. If it’s an issue for you…no one’s forcing you to read it!

  15. Megan says:

The show is really good. Theres no way donny should have won, but he had the most votes. Thats just how it goes. Derek and Joanna shoula won though.

  16. Chris says:

Just about any awards show on television is nothing but a popularity contest, look at the AMA’s. The only ones that are voted by people who know anything are the Golden Globes, and The Oscars.

  17. Kim says:

Crap! I hadn’t watched last nights ep when I saw this headline. :/
Donny was definitely the last person I would have picked from the top 3 to win. I was expecting Mya but I definitely thought that Kelly was the most deserving out of the top 3. She showed a huge improvement over the course of the show compared to Mya. I usually found Mya’s dances boring just because you expected her to do well and she did.
Donny mostly just seemed to be about cheesy showmanship rather than the dancing. lol And I thought he said he would have alienated the Mormon audience after his same-sex “kiss”.

  18. CHASE says:

I thought Kelly was better than Mya.

  19. daniella550 says:

Donny Osmond won because every older person and Mormon voted for him. Mya was the best dancer. Joanna Kupra was better than Kelly..Kelly w as the most enduring..I cried almost everytime she danced. Last you that girl that looks like a mouse shouldn’t have won either.AND PLEASE NO MORE CLORIS LEACHMAN!

  20. Ashlee says:

@daniella550 I’m mormon and I didn’t vote for Osmond, and I deffo wouldn’t have voted for someone just because they are of the same religion as myself. That’s just as bad as NOT voting for someone because of their religion.
The show is mostly based on popularity, out of the final three I think Osmond is the most recognised. That’s why he won.
