Bobby Brown & Babymama Spend Some Time With Their Kid

Bobby Brown and his latest babymama Alicia Etheridge were spotted enjoying a family day at The Grove here in LA earlier this week with their new son Cassius who was born earlier this year. As you may be aware, Cassius is Bobby‘s fifth child from at least 2 other babymamas (including ex-wife Whitney Houston). Here is a photo from their tender afternoon together:

To be honest, I can’t think of a worse scenario than having Bobby Brown as a father (particularly since he is notoriously not very good a keeping up with his child support payments) but at least he is being present for little Cassius … well, at least for now. I suppose it’s nice that he and Alicia are apparently still together … we’ll have to wait and see how long it lasts tho. Casissus is a cute little dude, tho. It can’t be easy to be one of Bobby Brown‘s numerous children so I’ll keep a good thought for the little man.

Celebs Come Out To Honor ‘CNN Heroes’ 2009

Celebs of varying degree of fame made their way out to the Kodak Theater last night for the taping of the 2009 CNN Heroes television special that will air on CNN on Thanksgiving and will honor “ordinary people” selected for their “extraordinary impact” this past year. Here are a few photos from the red carpet arrivals of some of the celebs who attended last night and some deets from the taping:

Kate Hudson, Pierce Brosnan, Neil Patrick Harris and other stars who are used to getting applause were giving it gladly at a ceremony honoring people who make a difference in the lives of others. “I’ve cried twice and we’re on hero three,” Harris said backstage after introducing one of the 10 “CNN Heroes” celebrated Saturday by the TV news network for their efforts to fight poverty, disease and other problems. “There are so many awards shows every year for the Hollywood community that participating in something as effective as this makes those others feel inconsequential” and provides perspective, said Harris, star of CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” and recent Emmy Awards host. The top CNN Hero of the Year and a grant of $100,000 went to a young man who embraced education for himself and other Filipinos as an escape from poverty. He and the other honorees received $25,000 each. As a child, Efren Penaflorida picked school over gang life in Cavite City and vowed to create a way for other children to make the same choice. He created a program that brings books to children in slums and on the streets, and the 10,000 members of his Dynamic Teen Co. have brought reading, writing and hygiene to 1,500 youngsters. “My message to children of all races, please, to embrace learning and love it for it will embrace and love you back and enable you to change your world,” said Penaflorida, now a 21-year-old college graduate. “Each person has a hidden hero within, just have to look inside you and search it in your heart and be the hero the next one in need,” he said in accepting the top honor. Brosnan, honoring a woman who started an anti-breast cancer project, created one of the evening’s most emotional moments as he recalled his late wife’s failed battle against the disease. She was a “magnificent mother, a wonderful actor,” he said of Cassandra Harris, who died of ovarian cancer in 1991. “There are too many of us who have lost someone to this brutal disease called cancer, and we are all sick and tired of cancer winning,” he said in introducing breast cancer survivor Andrea Ivory, who runs a mobile mammography project in Miami that provides free screenings. The pair posed backstage for photos, Ivory glamorous in a gown with an oversized pink bow — symbolic of the ribbons that mark the breast cancer battle. “Stunning,” Brosnan said, smiling broadly as cameras focused on her. “You make me nervous,” Ivory replied, but Brosnan would have none of it. “You’re the star,” he said. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper hosted the Kodak Theatre ceremony that was attended by about 4,000 people and will air on CNN at 9 p.m. EST Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, and on CNN International and CNN en Espanol. Leona Lewis, Carrie Underwood and Maxwell performed, and other presenters included Nicole Kidman and George Lopez.

This is such a great event, I’m so glad that so many celebs are interested in participating in honoring everyday folk who give so generously of their time, energy and money to help others in need. I also love how classy this event is … black tie looks good on so many people. Love and congrats goes out to CNN‘s honorees this year … make sure you tune in on Thanksgiving night to see who was honored this year.

The TV Guide
Quality Time

Yesterday was my last day with David before he flies back East to spend the week with friends and family for the Thanksgiving holiday. I have opted out of any air travel for the past couple of months so I will be staying here holding down the fort while he is gone. I had planned on attending the Pablove Benefit Concert at Avalon last night (to see, among others, Shirley Manson perform in concert) but decided to give my ticket to Josh so that I could spend the whole day/night with David. We stayed in for much of our time and even watched the broadcast of Dr. Seuss‘s How the Grinch Stole Christmas last night:

Then we ventured out for dinner at Prizzi’s Piazza in Hollywood where we were seated right next to Jeff Lewis from Bravo TV‘s Flipping Out. We had THE best pizza dinner last night … it was a fun time. We spent the rest of the evening here at home … and in a few mins, I have to drive David to the airport. I’m gonna miss my boo … even tho we’ve spent the majority of our 3 (going on 4) year relationship living on opposite sides of the country, we’ve been in much closer company since we moved in together back in February. The last couple of months have been really great and, well, I’m just gonna miss him while he’s gone ;(

I don’t know if I’ll be doing much of anything tonight … it may be a very quiet Sunday for me.

Weekend Hotness
Hot Dude Of The Week: Shane H.

It is time, once again, to partake of the Weekend Hotness wherein we pause to celebrate (and gawk) at the Hot Dude of the Week. This time around, we’ve got a nice young chap who is very clearly bringing sexy back … say hello to Shane H:

Considering how disappointing those Playgirl photos of Levi Johnston turned out to be, I thought it would be appropriate to showcase a guy who is super sexy without even having to try … Shane doesn’t even have to show anything at all and he’s already way sexier than Johnston will ever be. Guys like Levi Johnston will come and go (and soon, too) but there is something to be said for innate sexiness like Shane‘s which will never go out of style. Enjoy :)

The 3rd biggest opening weekend EVER!
‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Brings In Over $140 Million At The Box Office

BIG news for The Twilight Saga: New Moon this weekend … it looks like it enjoyed the third biggest weekend box office opening of all time here in the US pulling in OVER $140 million in just 3 days. The film pulled in another $118 million in the rest of the world bringing it’s overall weekend box office total to $258.8 million!!!

The vampire romance “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” sucked up $140.7 million in its first three days and pulled in a total of $258.8 million worldwide, according to studio estimates Sunday. The No. 1 domestic debut for Summit Entertainment’s “New Moon” was more than twice the $69.6 million haul over the same weekend last year for “Twilight,” the first in the franchise based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels. “New Moon” placed third on the all-time domestic chart behind last year’s $158.4 million opening weekend for the Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight” and 2007′s $151.1 million haul for “Spider-Man 3.” On Friday, “New Moon” set an all-time domestic high for opening day with $72.7 million, topping the previous record of $67.2 million had been held by last year’s “The Dark Knight.” Overseas, “New Moon” debuted in 25 countries and took in $118.1 million. “New Moon” continues the story of teen romance between a school girl and a vampire (Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson), with the sequel adding a love triangle with a teen werewolf (Taylor Lautner). Opening at No. 2 this weekend was the Warner Bros. football drama “The Blind Side” with $34.5 million. The previous weekend’s top movie, Sony’s disaster tale “2012,” slipped to third-place with $26.5 million, raising its domestic total to $108.2 million.

I credit the big box office bucks to Taylor Lautner‘s abs … approx. $23 million per ab (X 6 = $140 mil.). I totally knew the movie would have a big opening weekend and was sure it would be the #1 movie … but $140 million?! No way I was prepared for that. The record books now state that Batman: The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 3 and The Twilight Saga: New Moon (all sequel films, btw) are the movies with the 3 biggest opening weekend box office tallies … that is INSANE to me. These Twilight films are basically a license to print money for Summit Entertainment … they really hit the jackpot with these films. It’s unclear how much more money the film will make during its theatrical run but I’m guessing it will pull in many more millions before it’s all said and done. Again, I say … Wow!

In ridiculously high heels
Victoria Beckham Bonds With Her Boys Over Frozen Yogurt

Victoria Beckham, who visited an underprivileged school in Kentucky with her eldest son Brooklyn Joseph last week before jetting off to the UK for some biz affairs, spent part of her weekend with all three of her boys — including Romeo James and Cruz David — on a visit to a frozen yogurt place here in SoCal … and homegirl was wearing death defying high heeled shoes, y’all:

It’s a scene most mothers will be able to identify with: Messy hair, dirty clothes and unruly children. So it’s reassuring to know life for A list celebrities is no different – apart from the five-inch designer heels, of course. Upon returning to Los Angeles from London, Victoria Beckham decided to treat Cruz, four, Romeo, seven and Brooklyn, 10, to a visit to Yogurtland in North Hollywood on Friday. But poor Posh wasn’t having much luck controlling the trio. Cruz was especially unruly, pulling faces at the waiting paparazzi and generally misbehaving for his mum. As if this wasn’t enough to contend with, the fashionista had stepped out without her hair being styled, wearing large black sunglasses and with a stain on the left knee of her light grey trousers. Clearly it had not been an easy day for the mother-of-three … En route to the store, which sells frozen yoghurt, Cruz was given a telling off by the former Spice Girl after he had a tantrum. First he pulled faces at the passers by, before pulling Victoria, 35, in the opposite direction to which they were heading. In behaviour typical to most four-year-olds, he then falls to the floor – much to Victoria’s annoyance. She pulls him up, then lowers herself to his level to give him a quiet talking to before buying the youngsters their favourite flavours at Yogurtland. But it was then back to his unruly ways for Cruz, as Victoria tried to lift him into their Range Rover for the ride home. He squirmed while she struggled to carry his weight while wearing her towering shoes.

Hahahahaha … I love the dramatics of this report … making it sound like Cruz was an unruly hellion that drove his mother mad. He prolly was a bit fussy but I doubt it was as big a scene as this report would have us believe. I can’t get over VB‘s crazy heels. I mean, I know she wears these sky-high things all the time but they just look extra precarious in these pics. I guess an outfit like this is de rigueur for an überstylish celeb mom … tantrums or no, Vicki B‘s gotta represent.

Inadvertantly
Jude Law Puts On A Show For Students At NYU

On Friday we learned that actor Jude Law got a bit angry with some college kids at New York University after he discovered that they were spying on him as he tried to enjoy some alonetime on his the balcony of his new NY apartment (which is right next to the dorms at NYU). To express his anger, Law began hurtling oranges at the nosy coeds … which didn’t really do anything other than make them more interested in watching. The fine folks at the New York Post got in touch with some of the NYU kids and managed to get some of their fun photos of Jude‘s balcony time … behold:

When Jude Law moved in next door to an NYU freshman dorm, he didn’t realize he’d be giving away front-row seats to every performance — and he’s hardly pleased with his “audience.” Star-struck students say they race to their dorm windows whenever the actor sets foot on his Washington Square balcony, as seen above in photos taken by one of the kids. “There is pretty much chaos on every floor when he comes out,” said Priya Vij, 18, who has a direct view of Law’s balcony from her Hayden Hall window. “People start screaming, ‘Hey, Jude’ — and it’s clear he can hear us.” Erica Rose, 18, keeps a pair of binoculars at the ready. “We have the best view on the floor,” she said. “It is exciting to have a celebrity living right next to you. He is really attractive. He’s rugged and scruffy.” The star of Broadway’s “Hamlet,” who uses the balcony to play with his son and work out with his personal trainer, apparently does not appreciate the attention. In Shakespeare’s day, audience members heckled actors by hurling rotten fruit. But a few weeks ago, when Law’s yoga session was interrupted, the fruit flew in the opposite direction. “He noticed we were there and we started waving at him. Then he went inside and came back with two oranges,” freshman Neha Najeeb told The Post. “He threw them at our window, but he missed.” Law then went back inside and returned with two additional oranges, she said. “This time, he hit the windows — there was orange pulp on the glass for a week — and then he went back to working out,” she said. “Now we don’t like Jude Law anymore.” Law couldn’t be reached for comment. Naheeb’s roommate, Kaitlin Coari, said Law should stick to throwing the slings and arrows of his “Hamlet” role instead of produce. “We couldn’t believe it when the orange hit the window,” she said. “I’m supposed to go see ‘Hamlet’ with my sister this Saturday. It’s awkward — I should bring some oranges, I guess.”

LOL!! I mean … yes, it’s terrible that these naughty kids keep spying on poor Jude Law when all he wants to do is workout on his balcony, it’s a horrible invasion of privacy but … damn, it’s funny as hell. Two things … first, I bet Jude has already bitched out whoever it was that found his apartment for him and failed to realize that it’s right next to the NYU dorms and second, I suspect that he won’t be staying there for much longer. Either he’s gonna get the hell out of there and find a different apartment with a more private balcony … or he’s gonna hafta get used to being on display in his new NY apartment every single day. It’s tough being a celeb, ain’t it?

A host of opportunities
Joseph Gordon-Levitt Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’

(500) Days of Summer and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra star Joseph Gordon-Levitt was the guest host on Saturday Night Live last night and provided the show with the ability to do a bunch of varied and fun skits including singing, dancing and even acrobatics … who knew that JGL was such a multi-talented guy? Here are a few of JGL‘s SNL promo photos featured on the show last night:

If I have one complaint about last night’s SNL it’s that they didn’t utilize JGL as much as they should have. While he was included in many of the skits, he wasn’t actually the featured performer in many of them. He played his secondary roles very well (and very funnily, I must say) but wasn’t in the forefront as much as I would’ve liked. To be honest, the surprise guest stars Vice President Al Gore (What’s Up With That?, Weekend Update) and singer Dave Matthews (The Mellow Show) did a little bit of show stealing. That said, I was thoroughly entertained by last night’s ep. After the jump, check out a few of my favorite skits from the show featuring host Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the JGL-less Debbie Downer skit that I feel is too funny not to share …
