Okay … let’s take this new report with a HUGE grain of salt but it sounds like Buffy the Vampire Slayer may rise from the dead, once again, in a new animated web series. As many of you are prolly still very painfully aware, Whedon‘s latest endeavor Dollhouse was canceled by Fox last week … but that means that Joss has a bunch of newly freed up time on his hands. According to SyFy‘s SciFiWire, Whedon is now planning to bring the Season 8 comic book series based on BtVS to life in a new animated web series:

Buffy lives! No, not the proposed Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie that wouldn’t involve creator Joss Whedon or anyone from the beloved TV show, which all serious Bronzers consider an abomination against nature. Rather, a series of motion-comic webisodes based on Whedon’s highly successful series of “Season Eight” comics. An actor friend of ours has clued us in to the casting of the new Buffy webisodes, which makes it sound like the proposed Web series is moving ahead quickly. Based on the breakdown, the series will be based on the comics and feature the characters Twilight, the Big Bad of Season Eight, and evil British socialite Slayer Lady Genevieve Savidge, who plots to usurp Buffy’s place in the Slayer hierarchy. Casting director Jeff Shuter is also looking for voice actors to play the parts of familiar Buffyverse characters Faith, Kennedy and Robin Wood, as well as a bunch of new characters (including someone who sounds like actor Daniel Craig to play a character based on the James Bond star). Below is the full breakdown, with character names and descriptions. Now that Dollhouse is winding up, Cabin in the Woods is delayed until 2011 and there’s no new Dr. Horrible on the immediate horizon, this is the best news yet for a Whedonite. Yay!

I know it’s a far cry from having the live-action Buffy gang back together again but it’s a damn fine consolation prize. I’ve been really enjoying the BtVS Season 8 comics and I think they will make an EXCELLENT animated series. Please gods, let this happen … fans of the Buffyverse could really use this sort of great news right about now. The new Us Weekly (on newsstands now) has the exclusive first look at what’s really inside a shocking new tell-all about the couple. Brangelina: The Untold Story of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reports that Jolie, 34, waged “a mean-spirited but effective campaign” against Aniston around the time that Pitt, 45, divorced her. According to the book, Jolie spread the rumor that Aniston firmly prioritized her career over starting a family — which put her directly at odds with Pitt, who ached for kids. Jolie “was convinced that this is the story that would resonate with all these women who saw her as a man-stealing bitch,” Halperin writes.

Oh man … yeah, I’ve been hearing quite a lot about this “tell-all” book on Brangelina and I don’t know what to believe. I’m always very skeptical when stuff like this comes out … so I tend not to believe the crazier stories. If Jennifer is smart, and I know she is, she will pay no attention to the book when it comes out … which is prolly why she got her ass down to Cabo for some rest and relaxation. She’s lookin’ good, y’all … I can’t say I blame her for wanting to show it off.

Popstar and X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of British Cosmopolitan magazine wherein she talks about the new love of her life … and the prospect of getting married again! Here is Dannii‘s Cosmo cover and some excerpts from her coverstory interview:

The 38-year-old star – who was previously married to actor Julian McMahon and was engaged to racing driver Jacques Villeneuve – had vowed never to wed again but admits she has had a change of heart since meeting model Kris Smith. Asked if the couple plan to marry, she said: “It’s a possibility – watch this space! I never thought I’d be saying this but, yes, I’ve found the guy I want to be with forever. I’d given up on love but then, as a few girlfriends had told me, it’s when you’ve given up looking that you meet that special someone.” The Australian beauty also admits she was too scared to approach Kris when she first saw him until a friend forced an introduction. She explained to Britain’s Cosmopolitan magazine: “I wouldn’t have even spoken to him on that fateful night had the friend I was with not caught us looking at each other, finally saying, ‘I can’t stand this anymore. I’m going to invite him over.’ I was mortified, saying ‘Don’t! I won’t speak to him if you do!’ And even when Kris did introduce himself, I acted really cool, thinking we’d have nothing in common. It just goes to prove how wrong you can be.”

For those of you not familiar with Kris Smith, you might recall that Dannii brought him to LA over the Summer so that they could enjoy a little vacay together. One look at those photos and you understand why Dannii would want to be with this man FOREVER. It is so wonderful to hear that Dannii is so happy … she is one of my fave people, she deserves all the love in the world. Britney Spears isn’t the only performer on tour in Australia these days, Tori Amos — who just released her amazing first-ever holiday album Midwinter Graces — is also on tour in Oz and played a show at the famed Opera House in Sydney, Australia yesterday (which is actually today for us). Here are a few pics of Tori on stage in Sydney and some excerpts from a recent interview she did for the Sydney Morning Herald:

Tori Amos is obsessed with a three-letter word: sin. In 2005 she came to Australia with The Original Sinsuality Tour, her new tour is called Sinful Attraction and her 2009 album, which comes with erotic photos of Amos (including one of her posing provocatively in bondage gear), is titled Abnormally Attracted to Sin – a line that was inspired by the 1955 Guys and Dolls musical. “As soon as I heard [the actress] Jean Simmons say that I put the movie on pause and never went back to it, just because my mind as a minister’s daughter went into a completely different place,” Amos says. When asked what kind of place that is, however, Amos becomes shirty. “Well, you have the record,” she says shortly. “That kind of place.” The record creates a dark and troubled terrain filled with power struggles, sadomasochistic imagery and – of course – plenty of sin. “I’m attracted to the idea of what sin is and how it’s been defined for hundreds of years because, frankly, the patriarchal fathers have the power to define us and how women view their bodies, and the fact they have this power is the greatest sin, an abuse of their power,” Amos says. “So, as a minister’s daughter, I’ve been fascinated with how church authorities have been able to influence and control and divide the masses within themselves.” Even though many people know of Amos thanks to her earlier, more radio-friendly songs such as Cornflake Girl and Crucify, the topics behind her songs have always been dark and complex, such as Me and a Gun, which was inspired by Amos’s experience of sexual abuse (she later co-founded the RAINN [Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network] helpline). “Journalists used to ask me years ago, ‘Why don’t you want to write happy pop songs?’ and I felt like saying to them, ‘Why don’t you want to be funny?’” Amos says. “Meaning you have to accept what your strengths are and what kind of writer you are. I do think some people excel at making happy little catchy tunes and then there are writers that are strong when they’re going after multi-levelled subjects and subjects that are hard to talk about – and that’s kind of where I’m most comfortable, in talking about the uncomfortable” … Whereas American Doll Posse was influenced by her unhappiness with George Bush, Amos says her new songs are “very much about what women are going through right now”. For example, the song Ophelia tells the tale of a woman repeatedly choosing to be in abusive relationships, Maybe California is about a mother contemplating jumping off a cliff and Strong Black Vine talks about religious intolerance. “A good musician is a reflector of the times, monitoring the emotions of the masses,” Amos says. “Events determine what songs show up and that I’m able to be a scribe for. “These songs are very much from the perspective of a woman who’s observing people losing their homes and their lives and kids being told they can’t go to college – if you travel now across the States, there are people saying ‘I don’t know what my life is going to be because I was planning on going to university and that’s gone, because my parents have lost everything,’ and they’re working a job to try and save the money to go to a community college and you begin to realise the magnitude of what this crisis has caused,” she says. “So friends and families are being torn apart, there’s great upheaval and there’s always opportunity in upheaval. ‘People are trying to find what their strengths are, what their gold is – not monetarily but what their spiritual gold is – and the record talks about different emotions.”

Gah, reading this interview makes me want to see Tori Amos live again. Even tho I got to see her in concert a few times this past Summer, I can never have enough. I won’t even go into how much IN LOVE I am with Midwinter Graces since I’ve already mentioned it a few times. Tori will play another performance at the Sydney Opera House tonight (which is actually tomorrow for the folks in Oz). Any Aussies out there attend either of these two shows?

Did you know that Jake Gyllenhaal is an eyeglass wearer? I sure didn’t … which I why I was very surprised to see his appearance in the new issue of In Style magazine talking about his need to wear glasses and his lending support to the New Eyes for the Needy charity which gives out vouchers for folks in the US to receive free eye exams and free glasses as well as donates prescription glasses to underprivileged countries. Here is Jake‘s New Eyes advertisement in In Style mag:

The copy reads: I’ve had really poor vision ever since I was a little kid — my mom first took me to the doctor because I was smacking into walls — and every time my prescription changed, we gave my old glasses to New Eyes. So when I started looking for a cause that I had a strong, visceral connection to, I thought of it and wanted to help bring awareness to its work. New Eyes sends donated prescription glasses to underdeveloped countries, and in the U.S. it distributes vouchers to patients for a free checkup and free glasses. There are so many people who have bad vision and don’t know it. I’ve seen kids who were on the verge of failing out of school who got glasses from New Eyes and their lives changed. It made me think, What if, when I was young, my parents hadn’t been able to afford my glasses? What would my life have been? Thankfully, my eyesight is something that I can take for granted. I want to try and help other people take theirs for granted as well.

This is so cool … there are so many needy charities out there and this is but another one. But, before Jake‘s appearance in this ad I had no idea that New Eyes even existed. Blah. While I am still not feeling 100% well again, I am feeling a lot better than I was late Saturday night. I’ve been drowning myself in Nyquil and orange juice and have been able to, thus far, fend off illness. My body aches are gone (thankfully) but I’ve still got throat/nose issues going on. Keep those healin’ vibes coming, please … I could really use them.

David and I took his brother Aram out for brunch yesterday before he had to fly back to San Fran. I spent much of the afternoon in bed trying to sleep off my illness and felt well enough to go to the movies last night. We decided to see 2012:

Okay, no lie … the plot is really dumb and the acting is laughably bad BUT I cannot encourage all y’all to go see 2012 in theaters enough. The special effects are so grand, so fun that you MUST see them on the big screen. The action gets started really early in the film and there is a lot of pay off … first Los Angeles gets destroyed, then Wyoming, then Las Vegas, then Washington DC … it’s really cool to see. Movies like this have nothing to do with plot, it’s all about the FX … 2012 is a fun time at the movies, I think you will love it. I loved it … and, thankfully, the dumb plot parts are few and far between … there is a lot of action to see. I’m so glad we saw it on the big screen.

Yesterday we got to see a few photos of Britney Spears and her agent/beau Jason Trawick playing with her sons on a yacht in Sydney Harbor but those pics focused mostly on Trawick and his sexy shirtlessness. Today we get to see a couple pics of our dear Britney rockin’ a hawt two piece bikini on said yacht clearing showing the world that she is back in fine shape:

Looking tanned and toned, it seems as though Britney Spears may have finally put her turbulent weight-gain years behind her. Wearing a tiny green bikini, the singer showed off her curves – and her tattoos – as she spent Saturday relaxing on board a yacht in Sydney Harbour. Britney, 27, was posing on millionaire media owner Paul Ramsay’s boat, Oscar, as she marked the halfway mark on her first Australian tour. It was clear to see that her arduous training and workout routines have paid off as she boasted a trimmer figure. After cruising the harbour, the yacht moored at Camp Cove off Watsons Bay for lunch … Snapped eating sandwiches and salad and drinking Vitamin Water, Britney was relaxing with her sons Sean Preston, four, and Jayden James, three, and her manager boyfriend Jason Trawick.

I’m glad she’s not letting the overblown controversy in Oz keep her down … in fact, it looks like she is having the time of her life with her happy family in Australia. As much as she appears to be enjoying her time in Oz, I’m guessing she’s prolly really ready to be off the road. I’m pretty sure these last few dates in Australia are her last of the tour … then she can finally return home for some prolonged rest and relaxation. She looks great and I love seeing her lookin’ so great! It’s clear that hard work and lots of love have been very good for her.

It’s been some time since we’ve seen hottie Ryan Reynolds here on the blog … as you may recall, homie hosted Saturday Night Live in early October and then quickly fell off the face of the planet. Over the weekend, Ryan showed up here in SoCal making his way into Factory Fitness in West Hollywood, CA to do some work on his hot bod …

… tho, judging by the looks of those bulging muscles showing thru his very tight shirt, it looks like he doesn’t really have a lot of work to do. Isn’t it soooooo annoying that Ryan Reynolds can look so good even when he’s trying to look all scrubby on his way into the gym? Ugh. I wonder how wifey Scarlett Johansson is able to handle this level of hotness on a daily basis. Yeah, I hate her ;)

Over the weekend we learned that Victoria Beckham and the eldest Beckham child Brooklyn spent some time in Kentucky last week to visit an underprivileged school in order to draw attention to the the plight of impoverished youth but daddy David Beckham stayed home in SoCal to tend to the other children … and spent a bizzy weekend all over town. Becks looked sharp as hell as he showed up at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA before changing into his LA Galaxy uni to play a match (likely his last of the season, or ever) on Friday night. Then Becks was spotted courtside at a LA Lakers basketball game showing his prowess as an athletic supporter … here are a few pics:

You know, this mohawky hair’do would look really dumb on pretty much everyone else but Becks really knows how to make it work. He look great … sexy, even. As cool as it is that VB spent some time in Kentucky working with underprivileged children, I’m glad Becks stayed in town to spread his hotness around to the masses.

Oh, there is another bit of random Beckham news which I have to share with all y’all. While the real life Becks looks all hot and shizz, a new waxwork statue at Louis Tussaud’s in Thailand of Les Beckhams look anything but hot — in fact, they look downright terrifying.
