Victoria Beckham and her eldest son Brooklyn Joseph made their way to Clay County in Kentucky for a 2-day visit to spend time with the impoverished children there. Vicki B. and Brooklyn spent much time with the kids in class but they also spent some time playing as well … here are a few photos:

Victoria Beckham spoke out about childhood poverty today after taking her eldest son to visit some of the poorest children in America. The former Spice Girl and 10-year-old Brooklyn engaged in a number of activities run by the Save the Children charity during a two-day trip to Clay County, in the state of Kentucky. Mrs Beckham said the visit had shown her the need for all children to have an equal start in life and helped her son learn about the responsibilities of his generation. The mother-of-three and Brooklyn took part in a number of programmes last week, including teaching football, reading to toddlers and providing literacy and nutrition tools to parents on home visits. At Manchester Elementary School, in Manchester, Kentucky, they participated in an after-school programme involving reading and healthy snacks and handed out Adidas shoes and backpacks. And during a visit to Big Creek Elementary School, in Oneida, the pair took part in a book bag exchange, where toddlers were given bags filled with books, and read one of their favourite stories, Duck In The Truck. Beckham also met school principals and teachers to try to understand the challenges they face and the support provided by Save the Children’s programmes. Clay County, in the south-east of Kentucky, is one of the poorest counties in America, with a childhood poverty rate of 47.8 per cent and an average household income of $19,728 (around £12,000). Beckham said: ‘What I saw in Clay County was the hope and promise inherent in every child. That’s why we have to make sure every single child has a fair and equal start in life. ‘Seeing Save the Children’s innovative programmes in action, I know that we can begin to reverse the childhood poverty crisis. ‘I’m pleased Brooklyn is learning that, by helping and joining other children, he can play a role in making his generation the greatest yet.’ Mark Shriver, managing director of Save the Children’s US programmes, who accompanied Beckham and Brooklyn on the visits, said: ‘By advocating a fair start for all children, Victoria is setting a powerful example for learning about and understanding the challenges confronting too many children in America today. ‘Instilling in Brooklyn the value of generational responsibility, she knows that a better sense of unity among children will make a future America and global community even greater.’ Mr Shriver continued: ‘These trips create invaluable awareness- building and advocacy. We look forward to continuing to work with Victoria to ensure that every child in America gets a fair start in life.’ Save The Children’s US programmes serve 50,000 in nearly 200 of America’s poorest and most remote communities.

I have to say, I am very impressed that Victoria and Brooklyn gave so generously of their time to shed light on the state of poverty in this country. I had no idea that Vicki B. was at all interested in such matters and I can really appreciate that she wanted to bring her son with her to lend a hand. Out magazine is ready to release it’s annual Out 100 issue wherein they select the year’s “most interesting, influential and newsworthy LGBT people”. The full list has not yet been made available but the cover shows which LGBT stars have made the list honor roll … Adam Lambert, Wanda Sykes, Cyndi Lauper, Lt. Dan Choi and Rob Marshall:

Of these folks, I know the least about Rob Marshall … but I can absolutely understand why Glambert, Wanda, Cyndi and Lt. Choi made the cut as the top LGBT stars of the year. I’m very curious to see who else made the cut this year … besides the obvious names listed on the cover, do any of y’all have any guesses?

David’s brother Aram arrived from San Francisco, CA last night for his first visit to our new place … so now, the Hauslaib bros have been reunited:

David and I are really excited to have him here … we’re hoping it will be the first of many visits to come. Because he got in kinda late last night, all we had time for was dinner at Barney’s Beanery and then a night of TV watching. Today we planned to head up to Six Flags Magic Mountain but because they close at 6pm today, we’ve decided to head in the other direction to spend the day/night at Disneyland. Fun!!!

As we all know by now, Madonna is currently in Brazil with her much younger toyboy Jesus Luz and it has been reported that she is in the country to meet his parents. BUT, it turns out that Maddy is doing more in Brazil than just meeting her young lovers young mother (who is 14 years younger than Madonna is) … it turns out that she is also lookin’ to give aid to the poorest parts of the country. Here are a couple photos of Madonna touring the slums of Brazil with the governor of Rio in order to get a sense of help the country may need from her:

Pop veteran Madonna has paid a visit to a Rio de Janeiro slum as part of an ongoing crusade to establish social projects in the impoverished region. Joined by Rio’s Governor, Madonna toured the favela and also visited social projects run by local NGOs. During her week- long visit, Madonna met with local business people and officials in Brazil to collect donations for her. Local residents admitted visits from celebrities like Madonna helped their cause. ‘Her visit is very special to us, because like Michael Jackson and other artists who have visited the slum, for us it is always a great feeling to see artists here in the favela because many people outside discriminate us, while an artist, a governor, or a mayor don’t discriminate us.’ Michel Luz da Silva, a Dona Marta Favella resident said. Madonna has reportedly agreed to ring in 2010 at Copacabana beach and is considering a possible concert during the opening ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games.

HMMM … it would seem that the special children in her life inspire Madonna to extend her philanthropic endeavors to the countries that they come from. First, Madonna adopts a couple of children from Malawi and then she founds an organization that seeks to bring aid to Malawi. Then she starts up a romantic relationship with a young man a few decades her junior and now begins to show interest in his homeland as well. Man, Madonna would do anything for her kids. I hear that the much ballyhooed meeting of Madonna and Mama Luz has already taken place … Cristiane Regina Da Silva (Jesus‘s mother) was spotted making her arrival at Madonna & Child‘s hotel earlier this week. It really sounds like things are getting serious. Could they really be in it for the long haul?

Britney Spears, who is currently on tour in Australia for the first time ever, is making the most of her time down under by packing in as much fun activity as she can when she is not hard at work on the performance stage. Britney has already conquered Perth and Melbourne and has finally arrived in Sydney. Back in August we learned that Twilight characters Bella Swan and Edward Cullen would be made into collectible Barbie dolls to be released for sale in time for the release of the sequel film The Twilight Saga: New Moon next week. Today we learn that Twilight character Jacob Black will also get the Barbie doll treatment. Unfortch for the members of Team Jacob, his doll won’t be released until next year … but the good news is that the doll comes with as little clothing as possible:

LOL. They gave the poor doll a pair of cutoff shorts, some shoes … and that’s it! Hahahahha. Love it. You may recall that we saw a prototype Jacob Black doll at San Diego Comic Con over the Summer which was shirtless as well. This doll is a bit less ripped as that doll was so depending on how ripped you want your shirtless dolls to be, you might want to wait for the release of that Jacob Black doll. And suddenly, I’m aware of the ridiculousness of this discussion. Earlier this week, Levi Johnston posed for his nekkid photospread for Playgirl magazine and today we are hearing from Life & Style magazine just went down at said photoshoot. As you may or may not be aware, Levi was on his high school hockey team and it seems that his prowess at utilizing big hockey sticks served as some inspiration for the photoshoot … tho, it remains to be seen just how big of a stick he is working with:

It’s Levi Johnston’s last day at the Playgirl photo shoot, and Life & Style has exclusive details. “The shoot is going well,” Levi’s manager and bodyguard, Tank Jones, tells Life & Style. “Levi is standing naked right now — he’s got one hand down there.” “In terms of props, he’s used a hockey stick. That’s the only prop in the shoot,” he adds. “You’ll see what you need to see in these photos.” So how is the 19-year-old father handling his first nude photo shoot? “I’m good!” Levi tells Life & Style. “I haven’t gone through them yet, but there are a lot of good shots.”

I understand the shoot was done over 3 days total. I believe one day was spent in a locker room, which is prolly where the hockey stick comes into play. I also understand that this special Levi Johnston issue of Playgirl magazine will be ready and on newsstands at some point in the coming week. For all we know, printing presses might be in overdrive RIGHT NOW churning out copies of the much-anticipated issue. Alls I know is that all this hype better be worth it … I must admit, I’m intrigued by the hockey theme. We should soon know if Levi‘s hockey stick is really worth waiting to see.
