‘Balloon Boy’ Dad, Richard Heene, Turns Himself Into Police

Earlier today we learned that Richard and Mayumi Heene, the parents who perpetuated the Balloon Boy hoax in Colorado last month, would be pleading guilty to charges that they illegally orchestrated the hoax. This afternoon, Richard Heene turned himself into police to officially be placed under arrest. Here is the loser’s mug shot:

The parents of a 6-year-old Colorado boy once feared missing inside a runaway helium balloon have accepted a plea deal to avoid a trial, according to the father’s attorney. Richard Heene turned himself in Thursday afternoon and was released on his own recognizance, authorities said. The Heenes will appear Friday in Larimer County Court, where they are expected to plead guilty, their attorneys said. The penalty range for the felony is two to six years in prison with a fine of $2,000 to $500,000. The range for the misdemeanor would be six months in jail with a fine of $50 to $750, the district attorney’s office statement said. The prosecutor has recommended probation, Richard Heene’s attorney said. Under the deal, Richard Heene, 49, will plead guilty to a felony charge of attempting to influence a public servant. Mayumi Heene, 48 and a Japanese citizen, will plead guilty to false reporting, a misdemeanor, lawyer David Lane said in a statement. Lane said the Heenes accepted the plea deal rather than risk a trial in which Mayumi, if found guilty, would face deportation to Japan. Mayumi Heene admitted to deputies last month that she and her husband Richard “knew all along that Falcon was hiding in the residence” in Fort Collins, according to an affidavit used to get a search warrant for the home. She allegedly told investigators the incident was a hoax meant to make them more marketable to the media. “Mayumi described that she and Richard Heene devised this hoax approximately two weeks earlier…. She and Richard had instructed their three children to lie to authorities as well as the media regarding this hoax,” the affidavit said. Richard Heene had denied a hoax. The most serious charges recommended by Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden would have carried a maximum sentence of six years in prison.

To be honest, I’m thoroughly done with this whole sad ordeal … but I couldn’t resist sharing the moron’s mug shot with the entire World Wide Web. Let this be a lesson to any potential fame-hungry losers out there who are thinking about using their children to get famous … you’re an idiot, don’t do it. The world already has enough Heenes, Gosselins, Federlines, Lohans … we don’t need any others.

... her hair black
Ashlee Simpson Dyes . . .

On Monday we heard a rumor that Ashlee Simpson, newly fired from her starring role on Melrose Place, is reportedly heading to Broadway to reprise her role in the stage musical Chicago. In what might be confirmation of this Broadway rumor, new pics of Ashlee Simpson rockin’ a newly dyed hair’do have come to light … behold:

This darker, edgy hair’do looks less like the Roxie Hart character in Chicago and more like, well, the Ashlee Simpson that we all fell in love with when she released her debut album all those years ago. You know … I miss that Ashlee Simpson … you know, the one who had stains on her t-shirt and who was the big-gest flirt? Remember?? The fun, pre-nose job Ashlee?? I am not ashamed to admit that I love her album Autobiography … sigh. Ah well, whether she’s headed to Broadway or not, Ashlee‘s got herself a hot new ‘do. I approve, she looks great.

'Luna Nueva' rising
‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Premieres In Madrid

First they invaded Hollywood, CA, then they invaded Paris, France, then they invaded London, England … today the Twilight TrinityKirsten Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner — were on hand at The Villa Magna Hotel in Madrid, Spain to appear at a photocall/premiere screening event:

Hmmm … I wonder if they’ve yet grown tired of being shipped from country to country in order to be paraded in front of a room full of photographers before they’re shuttled from one interview to the next and then shipped off to the next country. It does not sound like a fun time … but I’m sure all those millions they are making in the process does make the whole experience more worthwhile. Round and round the world they go … where they’ll stop next is anyone’s guess.

This time, tho, Britney‘s sons are wide awake and lookin’ as adorable as ever:

Not only is Britney carrying on with her sons in loving arms but she, too, is carrying on with her tour The Circus starring Britney Spears which seems to have the entire country of Australia talking. I love that Britney causes a sensation wherever she goes … even if she doesn’t mean to. You just keep doin’ your thing, Britney. Joss Whedon Talks To ‘TV Guide’ About The End Of ‘Dollhouse’

Yesterday we learned the heartbreaking and infuriating news that Fox has decided to cancel Dollhouse in the wake of sagging ratings and today we learn from TV Guide magazine that Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon saw the axing coming. In a new interview with Whedon that was conducted after Fox put Dollhouse on hiatus for the month of November but before the network decided to kill the series, Joss talks about the “end” of Dollhouse … which came much too soon for so many Dollhouse fans:

On Monday, I said TV Guide Magazine would run Joss Whedon’s recent reveals on the remaining Dollhouse episodes next week, but since the not entirely unexpected news broke of the show’s cancellation yesterday, I wanted to publish the interview from November 4 as soon as possible. Fox will complete Dollhouse’s 13 episode season with three weeks of back to back episodes on December 4, 11 and 18, then single episodes on January 8 and 15 before the series finale airs January 22. Here, Whedon shares scoop about this season’s upcoming episodes before he received the news about the show’s cancellation.

Are you writing episode 13 to be a finale, just in case? Hedging your bets?
You know what, we hedged the last time and we got renewed, so we’re definitely hedging them again. People forget but I did this every year with Buffy. That’s just insurance. I didn’t do it with Firefly and look what happened. I went mad as a March hare and made a movie. So we’re doing that this time. Hopefully we’ll have nine more to do it after. We always wrap everything up and then unravel it again, if we’re told to.

Do you really have hope that you could come back with nine more?
Do I have hope? I do think the December double airings are kind of interesting. I’m not planning a trip to Vegas, but I live in hope. I know how the show would go on. That’s the most important thing. I will pitch that to Fox, if they find that the economics are working out for them, they may say keep it going. If they don’t, which is likely, they’ll say the other thing. But the point is to be ready for both, though there is a sense of resolve at the end of 13.

You have some choice guest stars upcoming. What can you tell us about Summer Glau’s character, Bennett, who shows up on December 4?
She works for the Washington D.C. Dollhouse, along with Ray Wise’s Howard. She’s someone from Caroline’s (Echo’s pre-House name) past. She’s got information about Caroline that will really surprise people, especially Echo (Eliza Dushku). And she has a dead arm, so what’s not to like. One of her arms doesn’t work and it’s in a sling.

Why?
It just felt right for the character, just like it felt right that she should probably dress like a schoolgirl and be very nice and a little odd. I would call her the Topher of the D.C. House.

But she’s actually ethical, unlike the amoral Topher?
Yes, she has morals.

Is Wise basically D.C’s Adelle, the head of the House?
Yes, he would be Adelle’s counterpart. He’s not so big with the morals. It’s a departure for Ray Wise (laughs). Another person in power, Harding, played by Keith Carradine, will be back. What a wonderful actor.

Why do Echo, Adelle (Olivia Williams) and Topher (Fran Kranz) visit the D.C. House?
That involves the D.C. House starting to take action against the Senator, played by Alexis Denisof, who’s targeting them. The corporation [Rossum] sees that there’s a problem there. Why LA gets involved, I can’t tell you.

Mothereffing-Effer!!! Gah … this interview just KILLS me! Hearing from Joss himself how awesome the show will get only to know that it won’t live beyond this half season is … INFURIATING!!! Joss‘s chat with TV Guide goes on from here … and it contains a few spoilers about the upcoming new eps that we have yet to see. For those of you who wish to remain spoiled, I put the rest of the spoilery info behind the cut — but you might want to read on to find out what Joss has planned for Alan Tudyk‘s Alpha character and Amy Acker‘s Dr. Saunders/Whiskey character …

The TV Guide
‘Cirque’ Attraction

Yesterday afternoon I met up with my good friend Josh to get a haircut at Parlour on Third and was very pleasantly surprised to run into another good friend David Russell. I hadn’t seen David is AGES but he is seriously one of my fave people … his knowledge of pop music is unmatched and I always look forward to talking with him about new music. Fortunately, I had my Polaroid camera on me so I was able to snap some pics:

After all, who knows when I’ll be able to run into him again ;)

Tonight, David and I are meeting up with Darion and Cameron in Santa Monica to see the new Cirque du Soleil show KOOZÅ which is performing nightly in the area until next month:

We were graciously invited to see the show by our dear friends at Cirque du Soleil so we had to take them up on their offer. I’ve heard so many great things about this show … as big Cirque fans, we are all very excited! But, before we see the show, David and I are planning to spend the afternoon on the Santa Monica Pier so that I can snap some fun pics. It should be a great day of fun today, can’t wait!!

First Look: 30 Seconds To Mars, ‘Kings + Queens’

Last month Jared Leto‘s band 30 Seconds to Mars asked fans to be a part of their new music video, Kings + Queens, and managed to cull together a good number of eager folks willing to be in their view. On a Sunday and Monday night last month, 30StM and their gaggle of fans rode bikes all over the metropolitan Los Angeles area … at last, the video has been finished and is ready for viewing:

Before this music video/short film made its debut online, it was screened at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre here in Hollywood, CA Monday night. My guess is that invited guests of 30StM including those who are featured in the video itself were all on hand to celebrate the premiere of the video … but now it’s our turn to see the final product. After the jump, check out the 30 Seconds to Mars video for Kings + Queens

Domo arigato, Mr. Roberto
Robert Pattinson’s ‘Vanity Fair’ Magazine Outtakes

Last week we got our first look at Robert Pattinson on the cover and in the pages of Vanity Fair magazine and at the the time, got an eyeful of amazing photos of R. Pattz shot by famed photographer Bruce Weber. Today we get to check out another eyeful of Weber photos as VF unleashes a big ol’ batch of outtake photos from Rob‘s photospread:

As Twilight’s reluctant bloodsucker, Vanity Fair’s December cover star has made teenage girls (and their mothers) swoon. To accompany Evgenia Peretz’s profile, which addresses Pattinson’s relationship with co-star Kristen Stewart and Hollywood’s doubts about casting him as Edward Cullen, VF.com presents the second of five slide shows featuring outtakes from his epic session with photographer Bruce Weber.

Yeah, yeah … we read excerpts from the interview last week and, most likely, many of you already have this magazine in your possession. So let’s get to the outtakes, shall we? Check ‘em out after the jump …

Can't stand the heat, gets her lame ass out of the kitchen
Carrie Prejean Calls Larry King ‘Inappropriate’, ‘Walks Out’ Of Interview

Carrie Prejean, the little hypocritical beauty queen wannabe that just won’t quit, decided to make an appearance on the Larry King Live show in order to promote her new book and ended up “walking out” of the interview when she was asked a question she didn’t want to answer. As you may well be aware, Prejean ended up settling her $1 million lawsuit with the Miss USA California Pageant recently after it was discovered that she appeared in an explicit sex tape and decided to cut her losses while she still could so that the sex tape would not be released and mar her Christian image. King asked Prejean about the circumstances surrounding her lawsuit settlement and Prejean accused him of being “inappropriate” and then, on the advice of one of her handlers off-screen, decided to end the interview … on live TV:

Former Miss California USA Carrie Prejean apparently does not want to discuss why she and pageant officials decided to settle a pair of lawsuits. Prejean threatened to walk off the set during an interview with CNN’s Larry King Tuesday after King asked what motivated her drop her claim. After Prejean told him the settlement was “confidential” King responded, “You can’t even say why you settled?” Prejean called the talk show host, “inappropriate” and took off her microphone in the middle of the interview. She also mouthed to someone off set that she was going to leave the show. Prejean, a 22-year-old San Diego native, sued the pageant’s co-executive directors, Keith Lewis and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, as well as pageant publicist Roger Neal, on allegations of libel, slander and religious discrimination in Los Angeles Superior Court in August. K2 Productions countersued in October, asking to be reimbursed $5,200 for the beauty queen’s breast implants. No details on the terms of the settlement have been released, however, it’s rumored a solo sex tape starring Prejean helped move things along. Prejean has said in TV appearances that she made the video for a boyfriend when she was 17 and now regrets making it. “It’s embarrassing even talking about this right now,” she said. “I’ve been on national TV discussing the worst mistake of my life. I mean, how many people are comfortable doing that?” Prejean is currently promoting her new book titled “Still Standing,” in which she writes negatively about pornography. Prejean claimed she was stripped of her title in June because she said she opposed gay marriage during the Miss USA pageant. Pageant officials said she was fired for not fulfilling her obligations as Miss California USA and had missed several scheduled appearances.

Well, to be honest, I can understand why this woman who is now trying to ride the wave of Conservative Christian celebrity would not want to talk about her solo sex tape (or, for that matter, those topless photos of hers) but when you go on a TV talk show to be interviewed, you have to expect that there will be questions asked of you. I do not believe that Larry King was inappropriate by any stretch of the imagination … in fact, Larry King is the one TV interviewer that asks THE MOST benign (ie. boring) questions of his interviewees. After the jump, check out a vid clip of Prejean‘s exchange with King then YOU can decide who was being inappropriate …
