Last week we got our first look at James Franco on the set of the daytime drama series General Hospital and today we not only get to see a few more promo pics but we get to hear from the man himself about his upcoming stint on the daytime soap:

On Friday night, James Franco traveled even farther north than Columbia’s campus for Dia’s Fall Gala at the Hispanic Society on 155th Street. He showed up halfway through cocktail hour with his grandmother. He yawned a lot. Vulture managed to get a few minutes with him, during which he told us a little about his upcoming guest roles on 30 Rock and General Hospital.

Where are you coming from?
I was filming 30 Rock today. It was very fun. I worked with Tina Fey a little bit over the summer on the movie Date Night and I’m assuming she liked the experience and that was why I was asked to do 30 Rock. I play myself but a very strange version. I don’t think it has anything to do with who I actually am.

And you’re also doing General Hospital. Why?
I really don’t know the difference between [soap operas]. The one difference is that General Hospital has developed this whole organized-crime thread.

But why a soap opera at all?
Well … I’ve got other ideas for my participation in this soap opera beyond just being in this soap opera. But it’s been a blast so far. It was kind of mind-blowing. I’ve worked one day on it. It’s one day of a few. But I think we packed seven episodes of my material in. They gave me a script for the day that was as thick as a film script and that’s what we planned to shoot in a single day. No ad-libbing. If I needed it, they said they had a TelePrompTer, but the regulars didn’t use it so I didn’t want to use it, either. Anyway, I’m pretty good at remembering lines.

Is it different acting for film than it is for a daytime soap?
One big difference is that you do one take. They’re going for one take because they have about four cameras for each setup. It’s one take: You do the whole scene and then you’re on to the next. That’s three or four pages in a moment.

What’s your character like? It’s not another James Franco, is it?
I don’t know how much they want you to reveal.

Do you wear an eye patch?
I haven’t worn one yet.

Do you die?
I haven’t died yet. But they only gave me the pages for the day that we shot. I don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s all open.

As I mentioned before, I don’t watch General Hospital but I’m so curious to see Franco on GH … especially after seeing these promo pics and the newly released promo VIDEO of his appearance on the show. Twilight star Taylor Lautner is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of Men’s Health magazine but it is his trainer Jordan Yuam who spoke to the mag about Tay Tay‘s training regime. Here is Taylor‘s Men’s Health cover and some excerpts from Yaum‘s interview:

Walk into any gym, and you’ll see the same thing: Lots of guys doing lots of reps of just one or two abs exercises. “And that’s one reason why so few of them have six packs,” says Jordan Yuam, NCEP, who helped actor Taylor Lautner pack on 30 pounds of lean muscle (and a monster six-pack) for the blockbuster film New Moon. “Your abs are like every other muscle in your body, and the same rules of muscle-building apply.” In practice, that means targeting your core no more than three days a week (on non-consecutive days), and hitting it with a variety of exercises that work every muscle between your hips and chest. Here are five moves that helped Lautner land the number one spot on Access Hollywood’s “Top 5 Hollywood Abs” list. Weave them into your own workouts for similarly impressive results. And if you want maximum gains in minimal time “superset them,” advises Jordan. “Pick two exercises, and do sets of each back to back without rest in between.”

Lawd, this sounds like a lot of work … none of it fun … but considering the pay off, I can understand why some guys subject themselves to this kind of torture. Earlier today we saw photos of Britney Spears‘s young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, making their arrival in Australia where their mother is currently on tour for the first time ever! As soon as the boys landed, they were whisked away by Britney‘s agent/beau Jason Trawick for a happy reunion at their hotel … behold:

Will you PLEASE look at that smile on Britney‘s face? I don’t think anything on this Earth makes her as happy as her children do. I love these pics so much. It really looks like they were having a fantastic bonding reunion. Britney did some bonding with Jason Trawick as well. Last night David and I met up with our new friends Emma and Josh at The Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, CA to see Imogen Heap perform live in concert:

Now, I’ve been a HUGE Imogen fan from way back in the day … pre-electronics, pre-Frou Frou, back when it was just her and her piano opening up for Rufus Wainwright. I’ve been fortunate enough to see Immi live in concert many times so I was very excited to be able to see her kick off her latest tour in support of her new album Ellipse. Yesterday we saw photos of the Twilight gang — Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart — making their departure from LA at LAX Airport. I assumed that the castmates would be splitting up in order to spread the promo duties among them at different locales around the country … it turns out that that assumption was wrong. The Twilight Trinity made their way en mass to Paris, France to appear at a photocall/screening event for The Twilight Saga: New Moon at the Hôtel de Crillon:

I understand that the film screened at a premiere for a few very lucky Parisians … and were blessed with the presence of the Twilight Trinity to boot … imagine that! Yesterday we saw photos of Madonna‘s (not so) grand arrival in São Paulo, Brazil as she deplaned from a *cough* commercial airplane *cough* and today we get to see a few photos of Madge in the close company of her much younger toyboy Jesus Luz out on the town last night:

HMMM … I wonder what’s up with all the shyness all of the sudden. We know that Madonna & Child are doing the deed (and have been for the better part of this year) and we know that they are spending a lot of personal time together in Brazil (as I mentioned yesterday, rumor has it that Jesus is ready to introduce her Madgesty to his family … including his mother … who is 14 years YOUNGER than Madonna is) so what’s with all the secrecy? Mebbe they just like playing coy with the photogs from time to time … mebbe it adds spice to their relationship. Whatever the heck is going on, they look foolish. Madonna is prolly THE most attention hungry person on the planet. When she feigns the spotlight like this she only makes herself look silly.

Last week Rihanna opened up to Good Morning America in a two part interview and on 20/20 in more extended interview … and this week, Rihanna appeared on MTV to talk further about the assault she suffered at the hand’s of her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. But, it seemed evident from Ri Ri‘s chat with Sway on MTV that she does not want to talk about her ordeal for the rest of her life. She made it clear that while she wants to speak out in order to help as many other young women who may be dealing with matters of domestic abuse, she does not want the subject to define who she is:

During her interview with Diane Sawyer, Rihanna revealed that she finally walked away from her relationship with Chris Brown after briefly reuniting because she wanted to set a positive example for her fans. The singer said she didn’t want young girls to think it was OK to return to an abusive situation. But Rihanna also said she doesn’t want to be the “domestic-violence spokesperson,” because Brown’s assault is only one aspect of her story. “One of the big things for me, I always want to help young women and give them insight into life experiences,” she told MTV News on Monday (November 9). “One of those things is going through an abusive relationship like I did. But that’s one thing for me. So I don’t want to be the big domestic-violence spokesperson, because that doesn’t define who I am. But if I can help young women in any way, and that being one of the things they need help with, then I’ll do that.” Rihanna is attempting to move forward following the February assault, when Brown left her battered and bruised in his rented Lamborghini after a pre-Grammy party. He eventually struck a plea deal and was sentenced to 180 days of community labor, weekly therapy sessions and five years’ probation. Brown has already conducted a handful of interviews, including MTV News’ “Chris Brown: The Interview” on Friday. But Rihanna didn’t break her silence until last week’s sit-down with Sawyer. “It was the biggest weight lifted off my chest,” she told MTV News. “If you watch the interview, you see it was a subject that I didn’t talk about for the eight months that I didn’t talk about it, so that was my first real time opening up. I had a lot of tension bottled up. So when I finally spoke about it, it felt really good. More importantly, it felt good that people got something positive out of it, because it’s devastating. It’s not fun to talk about or listen to, but there are a lot of women who are going through it, a lot of teenagers who are scared to talk about it. So I thought it was a good thing that I can be that voice for them and help them get out of that situation.”

I am so happy that Rihanna is feeling relief after opening up about her abuse. I cannot imagine what it must feel like first, to endure something like that and second, to feel the pressure from others to share. I am glad that she is sharing tho, as I’ve said before … her message is one that could greatly benefit other people who may be in her same abusive situation.
