The Kanye West & Lady Gaga ‘Fame Kills’ Tour Is Dunzo!
Tour got axed before it even began due primarily to poor ticket sales

Hmmm … it looks like Kanye West‘s big mouth has finally hurt him where it matters most … in the wallet. As you may recall, Kanye very douchily stole the spotlight from Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards last month as she tried to give her Best Female Video acceptance speech and set off a firestorm of controversy with pretty much everyone on the planet (even President Obama called Kanye a “jackass” over the matter). Normally, his asshole behavior (which tends to piss off people on a regular basis) is just excused away without his needing to face any consequences. Days after the VMA incident, it was announced that Kanye would be teaming up with Lady Gaga for a co-headlinging tour called Fame Kills. Late yesterday, Live Nation released a statement annoucning that the tour has been CANCELED without offering any explanation why. Today … we know why … according to TMZ, ticket sales for the Fame Kills Tour were so low that the concert promoter decided to cut their losses before the tour even got underway … and additionally Kanye and Gaga just couldn’t get along. I guess Kanye and his “colorful behavior” don’t sell like they used to:

If Kanye West doesn’t regret hijacking Taylor Swift, he will now — we’re told his concert tour with Lady Gaga was scrapped because ticket sales sucked. And “sucked” happens to be a nicer version of the word we were told. And not only that — our insiders say another factor in the cancellation was West and Gaga’s people were at each others throats like their last names were Gosselin. When it came down do it, we’re told Gaga decided she’d be better off playing smaller venues … and far from the headache caused by Kanye’s ever present drama.

LMAOO!! Finally … perhaps, just maybe, Kanye West will finally learn that being an asshole will actually make people dislike you. How else will he learn better behavior? I find it humorous that Gaga was just days ago defending Kanye‘s douchey behavior and now we learn that she couldn’t stand him either … neither one of them sound very professional. I personally had ZERO interest in seeing this show so I have no personal stake in the matter … but I did want to pass along the info to highlight the fact that being an asshole DOES have its consequences. Do I think Kanye West will learn a lesson here? Not really … but there is always hope.

    The problem was the tickets were VERY overpriced. Not affordable for the average consumer. Also Trent, it seems hypocritical of you to blast Lady Gaga and Kanye when you are PRAISING Kristen on “The Hills” for purposely being a bitch for absolute no reason. At least Kanye was passionate about the thing he was being a bitch over (still no excuse to act like a bitch). I agree that Kanye’s antics are not acceptable but then to say Kristen’s are because YOU personally find them “entertaining” is really a double standard. Care to explain your side?

    • @Smoo — LOL, OK. Kristin is on a TV show which exists for entertainment, Kanye is a douche is real life. Get it? Regarding ticket prices, both Madonna and Britney sold out venues with ticket prices going into the 500s, Beyonce sold out tickets that went into the 1000s. There is an obvs demand for those performers, clearly not a demand for Kanye and Gaga together.

  2. Jacinta says:

    Dang I was planning to go see this just because of Lady Gaga. Hopefully, she gets her own tour or a better tour with someone else.

  3. SuziLee says:

    Oh boy – you seriously couldn’t PAY me to see these 2 in concert!!!! Whoever said the comment about the elvis impersonators – soooo with you on that. These 2 need to tour w/someone who is likable, since really neither of them is all that “fan friendly”. Or… friendly period! No big loss.

  4. V says:

    They’re both 2 performers that will be easily forgotten in years to come because novelty can only get you so far. They try way too hard to get people’s attention when they’re probably better just acting natural and NORMAL.

    I’ve never liked GaGa. In fact, I get really more and more annoyed seeing her on TV these days. If she’s so great, she can go out there with no enhancements or wacky costumes etc. and people will still listen to her music… Her constant need to dress up in character is a total sign of desperation because real performers don’t have to do that to entertain or grab people’s attention…and no, she will NEVER be the next Madonna. As for Kanye? Lets hope he learns his lesson on HUMBLENESS. They both deserve it!

  5. Anthony says:

    @trent, I agree, but do you think she just came oout and said or some reporter asked her about? She answered a question and she tried to be a pro. Kanye, though, is the opposite of a pro.

    @V

    Madonna dressed up and did all kinds of crazy thing for attention. Rocket bra, anyone?

  6. Megan says:

    Im actually a little upset. I love lady gaga but i could do without Kanye because i think hes an arrogant ahole. I was going to buy tickets tomorrow for their Toronto show… Guess that wont be happening. lol

  7. Kendra says:

    Ugh..Thank goodness..Maybe this will bring both of their egos down a notch..Changing 4 times, each outfit more hideous than the next, at the VMA’s? Really Lady CaCa?? You are SO not that special..

  8. Steph says:

    This is very strange as 2 days ago Lady GaGa was on not one, but two Toronto radio stations promoting the show. I listened to both and fyi she did not really defend him, she said he was really sorry and made a huge mistake. IMO that is saying he is wrong, and he knows it. That is the most honest and PC way of going about it.

  9. Krissy says:

    Lady Gaga was absolutely professional in how she handled his behavior and the questions about it. Sometimes it seems like Trent feels threatened by Gaga’s sucess, and I just don’t get it. There can be more than one successful pop star at a time, don’t worry honey. I agree with a lot of people who have said they were excited about seeing Gaga, but didn’t want to have to sit through Kanye (or miss half the show). I wanted to go, but hadn’t bought tickets yet because it felt weird giving the money to Kanye! So glad she will tour with out him now.

    • @Krissy — Wait, what? *I’m* threatened by Gaga? LOLOLOLOL!! I just don’t like her music (except for Just Dance) and I find her attempts to be “avant garde” totally uninteresting. That is all. I find it funny that people take things so personally. If you like someone that I don’t then the world won’t end. There are many successful popstars that I love — Britney, Kylie, Madonna, Mariah, Beyonce, etc. I’m just not a Gaga (or Xtina for that matter) fan. Chillax y’all, I’m attacking YOU if I voice an unfavorable opinion about someone you may like.

  10. Krissy says:

    I am not taking it personally, and I am used to having differences with you on taste. I just find it odd that you go out of your way to bash her. Like the time you posted that “more people should start booing” her. You aren’t usually that catty and nasty, so it really stands out.

  11. Naomi Black says:

    @ Anthony… yes Madonna did wear the “cone bra”, but she has never come off half as desperate for attention as little Miss GaGa! WTF was that VMA performance all about (both on & off the stage)? She has okay music, I like some of it, but her performances leave alot to be desired! The costumes she chooses to wear are crazier than Bjork’s “swan dress”, hell she couldn’t even maintain one of them to accept her VMA award… and again what was up with that VMA performance!?! It was crazy & sloppy… and gross!!! One minute she’s in a wheelchair, the next she’s dancin’ like a drunk girl… the piano playing wasn’t right, the bleeding was even more wrong & then she hung herself….. uh, eeeew!?! I’m not gonna pay to see that, and do we really need to go into Kanye!?! Come on!!!

  12. Smoo says:

    I understand what you are trying to say Trent. I agree with your ticket assessment, however as of the other point, Lauren was on that show you claim is there “for entertainment” and you said it yourself that she was “Too boring” for you, she wasn’t “dramatic” or “mean” enough. Like Audrina said, its people’s feelings and lives she is messing with. But you don’t seem to have any problem with that, whether she views it as “real” or “fake” she is still hurting people JUST to hurt them and to “get ratings”. You consider a person like that better then Kanye who yes, did something REALLY DUMB but then said he was SORRY multiple times. I still think its hypocritical.

    @Krissy: I don’t think Trent is threatened by Gaga lol, he’s not a musician. He’s merely stating his opinion, which we can then in turn agree/disagree with. I actually agree with Trent, her attempts at “avant garde” are just blah & moot at this point.

  13. KS says:

    People love to blast Lady GaGa for being weird and over the top. But wake up people! It’s part of her persona! She extends her stage character into day to day life. The majority of people don’t even know what her real name is! She shuts us out of who the “real” Lady GaGa is so that we focus on her music. And her wild antics and costumes are ploys to get people to notice her. What’s so wrong with that? Britney shaved her head to get attention. At least GaGa admits that she’s purposely trying to grab the media’s attention. She’s in a business where she has to market herself, and this is her marketing strategy. Also, have you ever listened to her piano and voice versions of her songs? She has an AMAZING voice, reminiscent of Adelle. But singers like Adelle have a limited following. Lady GaGa knew what she needed to do to become famous and it meant sacrificing more sophisticated music, but know that she is famous she is sneaking in oppurtunities to sing these more refined versions of her music. This concert failed because Kanye West is such a supreme douchebag. I am glad he got knocked on his ass, it’s just a shame he dragged GaGa down with him.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....re=related

    watch all three parts to this in-depth interview with GaGa. It’s the closest to Stefani we’ll probably come. It’ll really change your opinions about her.

  15. KS says:

    ps Trent, you loveeeee Britney. GaGa wrote “Quicksand” for Britney.

  16. Anthony says:

    @naomi black,

    Madonna not out for attention? Kissing Britney and Christina at the VMAs?

    Her speech about Michael Jackson, that was more about her?

    Ok. sure.

    Also, Gaga didn’t hang herself. Clearly, the meaning behind the performance was lost on you.

    I don’t think Trent is threatened by Gaga, at all.

  17. Monica says:

    Well I for one am bummed about this news – I think the tour was going to be super fierce. I’ve seen both Kanye and Lady Gaga in concert before and they are both amazing performers. I’d hate to think that this has anything to do with Kanye’s stupid outburst at the VMA’s because that just shows how people over react to really inconsequential things while ignoring more important things in the world. Like I’ve noticed that Chris Brown is subtly re-entering the music scene and I keep reading that his new single has been “well received” by fans. That just makes me sick because what he did was a crime and he should be in jail yet it’s like a lot people are going on like nothing happened. Meanwhile Kanye gets drunk one night and acts like a jackass so he should be punished for life and lose his career? Makes no sense to me. I don’t like any of these people on a personal level but out of the three – I’d say Kanye is by far the most talented.

  18. Anthony says:

    @Trent,
    Actually, to be honest, Quicksand and Amnesia (to me) are better than My Baby and Mmm Papi. I listent to those two more than any other songs.

  19. Anthony says:

    @Monica,
    Double post, but…
    Kanye has acted like a jackass many times before. This was the straw that broke the camel’s back for many.
    As for him being the most talented…sorry, no. His first hit was only good b/c he sampled Through the Fire and his last album was all auto-tunes cause he can’t sing. And Stronger’s success was due to Daft Punk’s original song.

  20. Naomi Black says:

    @ Anthony — Now, now I didn’t say Madonna wasn’t out for attention, I said she wasn’t as “DESPERATE” for it as Lady GaGa ( she tries to hard with less results!), as far as the message behind her Paparazzi performance…. trust I get it!! I still think it was a mess that I would rather not have to pay to see!!!
