Yesterday we saw a few photos from the UK premiere of the new film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and today we get our first look at the film’s video trailer. As you may already know, Parnassus was the late Heath Ledger‘s last film (it was the project he was working on when he passed away in early ’08) and it is finally ready for release. Here are a few caps from the first official movie trailer for the film:

Because Heath passed away before the film was completed, the movie was tweaked a bit to fill in the gaps … Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law appear in the film as Heath‘s character in the scenes he had yet to complete. It’s a pretty ingenius way to salvage the film. After the jump, check out the video trailer in full to see what Doctor Parnassus is all about …
It looks good … creepy … visually fun. I can see why Heath would want to take on this role … he was always looking for new ways to expand his craft. This is the first role he chose after appearing as The Joker in Batman: The Dark Knight. I’m anxious to see this film … I have been for a long time.

@Sweet_Lady…. I read a while ago that the movie goes to 3 different “worlds” and that Jude, Colin, and Johhny are representing Heath’s character in those worlds. They had shot most (if not all) of the scenes for what I am guessing is the “real” world before he passed. They were taking a break in filming before they started on the rest of it.
This movie was just on at the Vancouver international Film Festival and they had to add extra showing cause it was so popular. I sadly didn’t have the time to go :(
Oh, I am definitely watching this. I love having beautiful men all in one film.

This movie will be amazing ! Its going to be so eery and sad watching though =(
and for all of you who say he’s not in the credits:
He’s the first one mentioned, it says “Academy Award Winner Heath Ledger”
This article actually says how they explain the changes to the other actors:

I can’t wait!
I laughed so hard when I saw the people complaining about him not being in the credits. They billed him first at 1:01 and he ISN’T EVEN THE STAR OF THE MOVIE! Not only is he credited, but he will be the biggest selling point for this movie. If he were alive this definitely would be Christopher Plummer’s thing.
The Tony storyline was rewritten following his death so that other actors could finish the role. And if you’re going to have it finished, you might as well do it with a bang — and 3 hugely successful actors is, er, quite the bang.
There was something very eerie, by the way, about Johnny Depp’s line: “Nothing’s permanent… not even death” in this situation.
I’m looking forward to this movie. A lot.
this trailer has been out for a couple weeks, hasn’t it? i’ve seen it on comingsoon.net before. hrm.
so excited for it! CANT WAIT.
Wow…..for a second I had forgotten that Heath had passed away when I saw the photos and then it just hit me. So sad….
I just saw the movie tonight and it was absolutely fantastic! It was pretty sad though to watch Heath in all his glory while knowing the fact that he’s now gone..
