Stephanie Pratt Loses Friend In Car Accident Before Deciding To Drive Drunk
Yesterday morning we learned that Stephanie Pratt, castmember on MTV’s The Hills, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the wee hours Sunday after she partied the night away at castmate Holly Montag’s birthday party at Empire nightclub Saturday night. Today we learn that Stephanie actually gave an interview on Saturday evening before she got the party started. In her interview, she confessed to the reporter that she was “tired” that night because she had been up long hours dealing with some bad news … it turns out that Stephanie lost a friend who died in a car accident the day before — SO NATURALLY she decided to get drunk and get behind the wheel of a car that night:
Stephanie Pratt has taken a detour from The Hills into the drunk tank. The reality TV trainwreck was busted on suspicion of DUI … after a night of partying … Pratt attempted to cement her nonparty-girl status before heading to the club, tweeting: “its my sissy @hollymontags bday party! just finished dinner and going to Empire but im pretty tired aka yes i am the party pooper :(” Ironically, the Daily 10 correspondent echoed the same sentiments when E! News caught up with her last night. “I’m a party pooper tonight,” Pratt said. “I got bad news this morning. A friend passed away in a car accident, so everyone needs to drive safe.” A witness says at around 2 a.m. Pratt, Montag and other partygoers headed over to Beso in Hollywood, where they partied until about 3 a.m. After that the group parted ways and Pratt took off in her own car.
I’m sorry but what a moron! I cannot believe that Stephanie would proselytize ON CAMERA about how people should “drive safe” and then get busted for drunk driving. Unbelievable. Here is an update on Stephanie Pratt’s alcohol blood level at the time of her arrest: We’ve learned the “Hills” star took two breathalyzer tests after she was pulled over in Hollywood early Sunday morning. The first was .08, the second was a .09. The legal limit in California is .08. She was not stopped because she was driving erratically, but because of an equipment violation. As we first reported, Pratt felt the cops were lying in wait for her as she left a club in Hollywood. Pratt was held on $5,000 bail and released Sunday afternoon.
I’m just speechless … I’m sorry but … damn, dumb dumb dumb.

I am a firm believer in the no driving after ANY drinking rule. It is very easy to tell the difference between 0 and 1, but telling the difference between 1 and too many? not so easy anymore, especially since “too many” changes from night to night depending upon your mood, emotional state, physical state, etc. I have made a rule for myself and I never break it: If I have had even one sip I do not drive, under any circumstances. If I know that I have to drive I simply don’t drink, it’s very easy if you are a responsible person. There is no excuse for her actions, at all…

I agree with Andi. So her BAC may have not been super high- but it was still above the limit. I lost a friend in a car accident a few days ago, and I would NEVER go out and drink then get behind the wheel. I can’t even comprehend that idea.

Yeah, I agree with people limiting themselves and not going by “how I feel”. I personally have a 1 drink rule (and that doesn’t mean I can have a long island iced tea), I mean, like one beer and I have to finish it at least an hour before driving.
Sometimes I feel fine after drinking a few beers and on the drive home (as a passenger) is when it hits me, so I don’t get the people who have a few drinks and say, “I’m fine to drive”.
My family and I were almost all killed by a drunk driver once (t-boned) so I really despise it when people drink and drive.
Even if she was just over the alcohol limit in CA I hope she gets punished to the fullest extent of the law.

I’m so safe when I drink and then drive…
Meaning…
I stop drinking no later than 1, and don’t drive until at least 4:00. No exceptions.
I hate stupidity and drunk driving is the definition. No excuse. Absolutely unacceptable.

@andi – I have the same rule..My friend is always trying to get me to drink a glass of wine with her when I go to her place..She doesn’t get that I have to drive home later! I just don’t want there to be ANY question of sobriety if I get pulled over for anything..Some may call me a prude, but I’ll most definitely drink my butt off if I’m staying the night or not driving!

Ugggh I hate to admit it but I probably have driven when I would’ve been above the legal limit. Not smart I know, but you think you had 1 or 2 drinks tops and are fine & you’ve waited…but it’s not smart at all. I think sometimes it takes something like this to be a life lesson. Everyone makes mistakes, some more in public than others…. I’m not sayin she’s not retarded. But….she wasn’t obviously totally bombed way over the limit. She didn’t have drugs on her, she hadn’t stolen the car…just used bad judgment.
Oh and as for the lips/nose….wtf did she have all that plastic surgery for?? She was a cute girl before all that.
