Rihanna Films Her New Music Video

Ahoy there, mateys!
October 17th, 2009

On Thursday we learned that Rihanna had announced the release date for her new album (which may or may not be titled The Wait Is Ova) as November 23 and today we get to see photos of Ri Ri on the NYC set of her new music video. Rihanna donned an eye patch and a slicked back hair’do for the shoot … behold:

Thus far there is NO information on the single or the album itself. It’s highly likely that the album will not be titled The Wait Is Ova but until we hear any concrete info, this is all we have to go on. I know a lot of people don’t like Rihanna’s sense of style but I kinda love it. It’s different without being too showy and while it’s a bit avant garde, it’s not really over-the-top-desperate-for-attention … at least, IMHO. I think she looks cute … I am dying to hear the single. What do y’all think … excited or notsomuch?

  2. mccraemalcolm Says:

In all honesty im so over rihanna now. She just needs to sit down for a while longer. lol

She has changed soo much since her 1st album and its all been for the sales which sucks. I love the ponde replay and sos rihanna not the GGGB rihanna which all for show.

  3. Jadedkitten Says:

umm the 3rd pix is that what I think it is???

  4. mccraemalcolm Says:

@Jadedkitten If you’re thinking her lindsaylohan then no. lol It looks like the little space between her legs, you can see the light behind it.

I do like the last pic though.

  5. Lola Says:

I think she looks ridiculous… but then I’ve never been a big Rhianna fan. To each their own!

  6. richard s Says:

same complaint people had about Grace Jones, boring

  7. Grace Says:

Ugh. Shes like kanye to me… Makes good/fun music but BIGGGGGG EGO! This girl is such a turn off.

  8. gunnarjet Says:

…similar dress as madonna wears in her celebration-video…?
…madonna wore a eye-patch as well in her “get-stupid”- video palyed at the show…

    ….mmmmmmhhh,…just wondering…

  9. Susie Says:

Yeah, Rihanna’s turning into a bit of charicature of herself, if you ask me. Not impressed.

  10. worldgirl Says:

    Aaarrrrgggghhh! Where’s me pants, Matey?!

  11. Adam Bomb Says:

Lovin’ the eye patch, lol! I’m excited to hear what she’s got for us next :)

  12. la princesa Says:

    I like her. A+!

  13. ashley Says:

Love Rihanna, she moved on greatly

  14. J Says:

@Trent…. i LOVE the whole “not desperate for attention” bit haha. You could have just said not like Lady Gaga.

@Grace… i don’t believe Rihanna comes across at having a big EGO. You never see her go on TV shows doing interviews or performing and raving on at how successful she is. I just think she is like Britney Spears. Rihanna is only young and this past year has been a big year in terms of how in demand she is with the media. She’s not as big as Britney, but who is? Just the “incident” has made her a larger target with the paparazzi and of corse she’s going to be all diva like with all that attention – i don’t blame her.
But Grace, i forgive you if you got confused between her and Beyonce – thats too much ego right there.

Not feeling the outfit. You’re out of your mind if you don’t think that outfit is to grab attention, that SHIRT is just screaming LOOK AT ME! I proably won’t be checking out the vid but if the songs any good I’ll definitely be playing it! :)

  16. CHASE Says:

She’s a horrible role model to women who have been victims of abuse. I mean, I can understand how she may not want to associate herself with being an abuse victim but she is a victim from violent abuse. The way she handled it really turned me off and I can understand how difficult it could be but it just seemed to me that she was totally lazy when it came to justice being served. I’m just a little bit “ova” her.

  17. nicole Says:

im over her…and she looks retarded.

  18. Alex Says:

she’s demonic looking, she used to be so wholesome

  19. Janine Says:

I’m a Rihanna fan, but I’m not sure if I can agree with Trent’s comment on her style: “It’s different without being too showy”. Are we talking about the same Rihanna?! The one that routinely wears pasties?! ;-) Just had to make a little comment on that.

  20. Haley Says:

    Uh..It’s kinda showy.

  21. V Says:

Totally agreed! Lady Gaga on the other hand just reeks of desperation. I actually find her constant need to dress up in wacky avant garde attire to be ‘in character’ very odd. She’s trying too hard to be Madonna!

  22. It's Trent, Bitch! Says:

@Janine — Okay, I’ll give you that the pasties are a bit too much … but predominantly, she’s not too showy ;)

  23. Kevin Says:

WHY are ppl so quick to compare this chick to Beyonce
either way, eye patch is a little much. Rihanna got annoying since GGGB but at least SOME of the tracks are still danceable…lets hope she doesn`t try to be `deep` post Chris Brown

  24. stfu.kthnx Says:

i love her and her hair… too bad its a hair cut that i would love to get but would never would do it.

  25. J Says:

The comparison to Beyonce is because of all Beyonce fans started to say crap about Rihanna (and Jay-Z) and then they kept claiming no one will dethrone Beyonce from this imaginary throne. They kept saying Rihanna is copying B & all that nonsense.

Ri and B can’t be completely opposite artists. In there genres, there shows, there fashion. Everything really. So as much as the comparison is annoying – its just like Brit and Xtina, its here to stay so it may aswel be used.

Any i’m sure plenty of Beyonce bi****s will come along and say negative things anyway. And also…CHASE…clearly you have never been abused in that way and therefore don’t know what its like.
If you have, well thats bad luck – bit if its one thing people should know, not everyone is the same.
Rihanna is obviously WORLD CLASS FAMOUS and followed everywhere she goes. Yes she is a role model to some and some may look down on how she handled the situation. But she obviously handled it in such a private and personal matter rather than publicly. Either way i salute her for moving on with her life and career so stop being so negative.

I understand a lot of woman, A LOT of woman suffer like Rihanna has and they try to promote the issue and inform younger woman and all woman really. But it would have been an even larger media scale had Rihanna gone on Oprah or something and cried her eyes out on television. Time will tell if Rihanna is willing to open up about it and help out others – but if not, don’t criticize cause each to their own.
