I went through the whole Ticketmaster nightmare as well– and this was after buying airfare to CA in addition to the initial tickets. I was so disappointed by the way the “exchange” was handled– incredibly convoluted and inept, but I don’t blame Paul Reubens for that. Although I am disappointed we are going to see the show in a much larger venue, I am really excited to see Pee Wee in person at all– that’s why I decided to make the trek to LA rather than just hope he puts on a touring show. Yeah, it won’t be the same as in an intimate theater but just being there live and feeding off the energy of all the geeked out fans like myself will make it awesome.

I also had tix for the earlier venue. The ticketmaster fiasco and the seeming greediness of moving from a nightclub setting (where I had booked fantastic seats) to a huge arena (where I had to go through the grinder to get shabby seats) put me off the whole thing, despite that I’m a big Pee-Wee fan from way back. But the show was a gift to a friend, so the show must go on. I hope I’m not disillusioned. I wish Reubens well with his comeback, but he got off to a very bad start with die-hard fans who purchased tickets to the shows cancelled for suspicious reasons.

We had also bought seats early on for the Fonda theatre show. I also wondered if it was greed or what that prompted the move. It took 25 minutes of holding, and then 30 minutes with the operator, but we inally got our seats exchanged for the new venue – 2nd row center, same price.
He is supposedly having meet-n-greets for folks who had bought tickets and then exchanged them. Good for him ( and us) if so. Either way, it is sure to be a fun evening.

I can understand being annoyed by a ticket change, but so what if something is being done for money? I would think in this case it seems very obvious it’s not done ONLY or even MAINLY for money. But if you’re doing something that takes a lot out of you and requires energy and many people want to see it, there’s no shame in cashing in. I would be more inclined to skin something like a $10-a-pop autographing session, which would really just be for cash. You should go. You’re lucky to be in the city where he’s doing this. To people creeped out by him…you need a much higher creep-out tolerance level.

I was never a big fan of the show, even as a kid, but I do think he got a bad rap from his arrest. He did a good job in Blow, and I think I would be more interested in him doing other roles that aren’t Pee Wee. I used to get so scared at the part in the movie where the lady truck driver says, “Tell ‘em Large Marge sent’cha!” and then her eyes bug out of her head. Freaked me out!

He pretty much makes my skin crawl, whether in or out of PH character. I always felt it a bit sleezy that he was doing a children’s show, for some reason…can’t explain why, and this was before his arrest.

I had bought tix for the original shows and then got caught up in the nightmare to switch my tix for the new shows. Like you Trent, I was very excited about seeing him in a small venue but was put off by the switch in venue and date. If he wanted to appease all the additional fans that wanted to go, then why not add shows versus changing the venue/date.

I’m excited to see him just because I loved him so much as a child but this whole thing has lost its luster because what happened. We’ll see if I actually go through with going but at least I got my tickets if I do.

I never liked the Peewee character, but I always felt that Mr. Rueben got screwed over. It’s good to see him back on track.

I LOVE Peeewee Herman. His Play House show was awesome, he scored some pretty big stars for his Christmas Special and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure is one of my favourite movies. I know he’s had his fair share of faults in the past, but when I watch his stuff, I forget all about it!

I had an aquaintence who had worked on “Play House”…we met after the show ended but before Mr. Rueben’s arrest. I asked her about him and she practically spit!
According to her, he was pretty nasty to everybody on the crew and even once pitched a fit when he found out his agent had set up a meeting with a “Make A Wish” kid who had cancer.
I have had a hard time finding him funny since I heard that!

Don’t like to be the only hater but I never took a liking to Pee Wee Herman. There just was something not quite right about him playing that character. Maybe it’s just me. Seeing a grown man act and sound like an idiot on TV was not my cup of tea at all.

The premise of the new show sounds like the one that sometimes airs on HBO where he uses his wish on Miss Yvonne to get Captain Carl to like her. Are they just revamping the old show? Either way, big or small venue, I’d go see for old times sake. I’d love to hear a large group of people yelling “Mekka Lekka Hi Mekka Hiney Ho”
