Miley Cyrus Raps About Quitting Twitter
First we learned that Miley Cyrus, reportedly on the advice of her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, decided that she needed to quit Twitter and delete her official Twitter profile … Then we heard the impassioned plea from her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, begging her (as “a light in the world of darkness”) to reactivate her Twitter account to satisfy her legion of fans (ie. the kiddies who shell out their parents’ hard earned money for her CDs, DVDs, movie & concert tickets, etc.) and return to Twitter. Now, in her final act of defiance, Miss Miley posted a hastily put-together music video for a rap song titled Good-Bye Twitter in order to explain to her fans why she quit Twitter and why she won’t be coming back. Here are a few screencaps from her vid:
OK, so she’s no threat to LL Cool J or Eminem or even T-Pain, but Miley Cyrus knows how to rap a little bit in a corny-cool old-school style and she knows how to milk a moment like nobody’s business. As we reported yesterday, Miley pulled the plug on her Twitter account and now she spills the deets to the beats. A sample:
“Yeah, you write what you’re doing but who really cares/If I’m playing with Noah or just doing my hair/Everything that I type and everything I do/All those lame gossip sites take it and they make it news.”
So what if she’s a Twitter quitter, we’re not bitter. Hey, are those backup dancers, or just her babysitters? Peace-out!
Ugh … this girl … well, I guess she’s just bein’ Miley. I do applaud her tactic … blasting the “lame blogs” by posting an even lamer rap video (with mis-synced vocals, really?) is surely the way to get your point across. I swear to sweet baby Jebus … if pappy Billy Ray Cyrus posts a rap video in response to her response then I MIGHT QUIT TWITTER MYSELF!! Please gods, anything but that.

Ugh, I really do not like Miley, but she’s kind of right. I’ve never understood the appeal of announcing to the world every little thing you do at any given moment… and I don’t see the appeal in reading about every little thing someone else does at any given moment either. Twitter seems to perpetuate these banal, narcissistic notions that the world actually cares if you’re currently eating soup, as if there isn’t already enough space junk floating around the internet already.
Now, I understand people use Twitter in entirely different ways, ways that are much less lame than “Miley is doing her hair,” so I’m not trying to attack the entire Twitter-verse here, just one particular use of it. Suffice it to say, however, I will never get a Twitter account myself.

Are yall serious!? I thought it was a funny and cool way of explaining to her fans why she quit twitter even though it wasnt needed. Yeah it wasnt as cool as tay swift’s, but Tay had a “hot” producer, lots of time and money spent into. She probably just wrote in like an hour and asked her backup dancers to dance in tacky outfits in the arena bathroom with her. lol
Although her way of doing it may have seemed lame to some people, her reasons for quitting twitter are understandable.
And she gets more cool points for name dropping Britney again! lol

i joined twitter like a month ago and haven’t really posted anything..i really don’t get it. isn’t it just redoing what blogs and facebook (and myspace) have already done? it’s overkill for sure. and if miley is so busy, why’d she have the time to do a video about quitting twitter?!

I think I watched the whole thing through morbid curiousity.
Twitter is for self absorbed people who feel the need to update everyone (who cares) about what they’re doing very minute of the day. Therefore this move has surprised me.
I look at Miley et al, and I am glad to be British where we have ladies like Emma Watson showing them how it’s really done :)

Surely you KNEW people would follow you and read about the stuff you do on a day to day basis. She’s such an attention whore. This is a Quit Twitter video? I never thought of that one. Why didn`t she consider her fans and just say,”Hi everybody every once in a while? I mean even when quitting a message board it is always better to Never make some announcement. All it does is give your competition something to work with as far as putting you down. Maybe, she felt it was a negative drain on her life and energy so she needed to quit. There is a better way to do this. It would work fine for her to just leave her account sitting there and post Less or almost never than to cancel it and make a video. Miley hopefully will mature and find balance. Everything (including Twitter) doesn`t have to be all or none.
