Madonna Joins Lady Gaga On ‘Saturday Night Live’
"Two exciting entertainers performing together for the very first time"

While Ryan Reynolds played guest host on last night’s ep of Saturday Night Live, Lady Gaga was tapped as the musical guest. But, Gaga‘s appearance on SNL wasn’t relegated to just the musical portions of the show … she also participated in a couple of skits. For the long-running skit Deep House Dish, Gaga was joined by none other than Madonna for her portion of the skit:

While the skit wasn’t all that funny, particularly because it looked as if neither Gaga or Madonna were properly prepared to deliver their lines (it was clear that Madonna messed up a few times), I’m impressed that Madge deigned to participate in the skit. While it’s true that it’s not difficult for Madonna to want to be included in all the fun at all times, it was nice of her to play along with Lady Gaga and the rest of the SNL kids on last night’s ep. After the jump, check out the skit in full …

I bet this skit would’ve been much funnier if they actually knew their lines … and managed to deliver them properly. I think the “kiss” portion of the skit was a bit much … seriously, hasn’t Madonna already milked that bit for all it’s worth with every other pop starlet alive? Meh. Again, I wasn’t really wowed but I did like that Maddy decided to drop in to play along. Lady Gaga performed her song Paparazzi (which you can watch HERE) and a medley of her other songs (which you can watch HERE) but looked a bit silly wearing that thing she wore for her second performance. How many times did that thing have to hit her in the head before she realized it was prolly not the best outfit to wear?

    EPIC…

    FAIL!

Madonna is really desperate going around near young pop stars, first abuse the fame of britney spears, then use justin timberlake, now yes’s trying to keep the spotlight with lady gaga….

    really sad…

The sketch wasn’t even funny :(

  2. Ama says:

Ah! is that guy they are both going to ‘kiss’ the one from that Kenan & Kel? he looks like**Is to lazy to go and look it up** gah..I miss that show…

Some of the sketches really aren’t that funny on SNL anymore. This is one of em’ oh well not everyone is a comedian. >.<

  3. Monica says:

I think Madonna is pretty generous to appear in a skit like that, where she is basically affirming that Lady Gaga is in her league, which is far from the truth. I actually do like Lady Gaga a lot but she is no where near Madonna in my book.

  4. Lauren says:

Is it me or does Lady GaGa look like Brittany Murphy here? Something looks different about her.

  5. Jennifer says:

Truth be told, I have never cared for Lady Gaga really at all. She drove me kind-of bonkers and while her paparazzi song kinda stuck in my head a bit more than the others, I was still never impressed.

My view of her really has changed after watching SNL last night. It was typical at first, even the Madonna stuff and I was just kinda rolling my eyes until she went to perform the last song. She started with the sphere thing and I told my husband I was shocked she was only doing songs everyone knew instead of something different. Then she moved to the piano. Maybe the rest of the world knew but I had no clue she could play like that. Trent I agree that the sphere thing was ridiculous but maybe that was the point? Maybe she was starting off the way everyone thought she would on purpose to shock them to show what talent she really had? I’m not sure but I definitely have a little more respect (if that’s what it is) now than I did before I watched the show.

That last bit with her and Andy cracked me up lol.

God I hope that CaCa’s 15 minutes are nearly up…on happier news..Britney is #1 in Ireland with 3…yay..

  7. ash says:

the skit was only funny when they were fighting on the couch. lady gaga is very strange with her dance moves & the things she wears on stage, but she was amazing when she did poker face on the piano!!

  8. CHASE says:

Sorry but Britney Spears is better than both of these hussies combined! Is Madonna going to put her fangs into GaGa and suck her life away? Let’s hope so!

  9. kiddo says:

she rocked it out on the piano, she’s the real deal.
The madonna skit was so awkward to watch, but the bit with lady gaga and andy samberg and the bubble dress was hilarious.

SNL hasn’t been funny for a long time. I did giggle at this skit though. (mostly because of the guys)

  11. sandbot says:

The skit was awful and Gaga totally got work done on her face (to her detriment). The only good part was the “What the hell is a disco stick?!” shout by Madge.

  12. sandbot says:

@Lauren….she does look different because she got a nosejob. Check out her shnozz in the official Paparazzi music video and then on SNL. It makes her look way too different…she should’ve stuck with her signature nose.

  13. Next Lane says:

I thought it was funny, Madonna looks really good,

  14. Tracy says:

I really do not like Lady Gaga, she scares the crap out of me. And SNL hasnt been funny in years. But Madonna did look good-not so mannish.

  15. Krissy says:

I think the whole skit wasn’t funny, all 6 minutes of it. Why do they make their sketches go on and on? I don’t think it was the performer’s fault, the writing just wasn’t funny. I thought the bubble sketch with Gaga at the end of the night was pretty funny. I was really surprised that Madonna showed up! For her to put all the effort in to get there and rehearse is saying a lot for a 2 minute spot in 1 sketch. I loved both of Gaga’s performances, but I thought the 2nd one at the piano was special. She is very New York, and performing on the show seemed like it had a lot of personal significance for her.

  16. Krissy says:

This is part of what the LA Times thought:

Lady Gaga was joined by Madonna on “Saturday Night Live,” and the high-profile guest shot failed to overshadow Gaga’s second music performance, a piano-based medley of her hits, as well as a touch of new song “Bad Romance.”

Yet whereas most artists come to late night television to show off their latest singles and generate a few headlines, Gaga, who can say the words “disco stick” with a straight face, displayed a side of herself that isn’t always in evidence on her 2008 smash album, “The Fame”: She’s not afraid to take risks.

Walking around in glass bras is nice and all, but a willingness to go musically bare and dismantle an electro-pop song on national television is surprisingly (sadly?) rare these days. For once, it was nice to see a pop star stretching herself by doing something more than showing some skin and spinning around a pole. A shame it had to happen well after midnight.

  17. la princesa says:

Lady Gaga a pop icon? NOPE!

  18. Splick says:

    Haters

  19. Miss Nimbus says:

No wonder GaGa wears all those ridiculous outfits, its to distract from her fuggly face….. She really erks me and I don;t care how talented she is, cause she just puts me off too much – And although I have never really been a Madonna fan, GaGa is no comparison.

  20. Natasha Wilson says:

honestly i think her performance on the piano was really good, i love britney but we all know that she cannot perform live like this! it is very annoying that she is so backed by perez but you still cannot deny her talent
