Lilith Fair Announces First Batch Of 2010 Tour Stops
Fair thee well

Great news music fans! Earlier this year we learned from Sarah McLachlan herself that Lilith Fair will return in 2010 and today LilithFair.com was officially launched, announcing the first batch of tour stops for the 2010 tour:

Nearly 6 months ago, Nettwerk CEO and Lilith Fair co-founder Terry McBride announced via Twitter that the all-female festival would make its return in 2010. Today, the official Lilith 2010 website launches, not only revealing the new look and feel of Lilith a decade later, but also the first set of cities that the traveling festival will be hitting–New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto, London and more. Check out www.lilithfair.com for the complete list.

“I can’t reveal anything further now,”says McBride, “but I can assure fans that we have some exciting announcements over the course of the following weeks, from confirmed artists to additional cities to innovative social initiatives. Lilith 2010 is very much upon us.”

Lilith 2010 promises to be a much bigger summer festival than it was in the past, traveling for the first time overseas and celebrating a mix of international artists and local up-and-comers. To capture the new energy of Lilith, Vancouver’s Traction Creative was brought on board to reinvigorate the Lilith brand—the new look is revealed today for the first time with the launch of the website.

From 1997 through 1999, Lilith Fair was one of the highest grossing touring festivals in the world, with over 1.5 million fans in attendance and raising over $10 million dollars for national and local charities. Founded by Grammy-award winning artist Sarah McLachlan along with Dan Fraser, Marty Diamond and Terry McBride, Lilith Fair was the only tour of its kind—a celebration of women in music featuring artists like Sheryl Crow, Christina Aguilera, Erykah Badu, The Dixie Chicks, Missy Elliot, The Pretenders, Nelly Furtado, Jewel, Queen Latifah, Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara and of course, Sarah McLachlan.

I went to the first and last years of this festival and they were amazing! Sarah was always good, but I especially liked Liz Phair, Indigo Girls, and the Dixie Chicks. Can’t wait to see the new lineup!

  2. Wonderful news. I’d be devouring videos of the performances.

I went to Lilith Fair twice in Detroit and once in Chicago. Besides Sarah of course, I loved seeing Fiona Apple and Indigo Girls. I can’t wait to see who’s on the line up for next year!

  5. Angie says:

    Dixie Chicks.. but of course!!

    Also, loooooooooooooved Sheryl Crow!

Went the first two years in Vancouver. The Indigo Girls brought amazing energy to the event, and the love affair the audience had with Sarah was pretty special. Also loved when the ladies all got on stage together to sing “The Water is Wide”. Was disappointed with the soundtrack though. Hopefully I’ll be in town for Lilith 2010!

I went all 3 years and I discovered some amazing artists on the B stage. Tara MacLean being my favorite. The best part is just walking thru all of the vendors. That’s so fun.

I was a roadie MGR and photographer… Sarah and I had a moment once, sorry to say I did act the part to be sure I was, errr, really being invited… We all like an ego vitamin here and there, esp from people with options and notoriety, and the atmosphere on Lilith was nice, not just what happened on stage, however, that said…….. blech…

So yeah, yahoo, and “ya-gross” – but thats just me, i let other people B whatever, but it left me feelin kinda dumb, and very empty inside.

ha ha, I just reread that!

But I have to say that grumpy middle eastern sperm donor guy, the husband/drummer, was her beard, or skirt as it were.. I mean, everyone saw that she had, like, groupies…. Dyed in the wool Lipstick Lesbians who’d howl at “Icecream” wagglin’ their tongues like dudes.

The weirdest were the naive, cute, prodominantly teen aged and straight girls who’d wind up in Sarah’s (Come Down/Come on) Room… All talkin through the thin door about how magical it all was… Sarah was well aware of this, as well as the effect of opium Hash and talk of “Being safe with me”, I always thought it was a lot like how Michael Jackson probably set up kids, except he used an amusement park… So Sarah would get the girls happily stoned, as if she were really enjoying the conversation, and the then, sometimes after Sarah’s fake tears (ooh that’s just creepy), they’d do what Sarah wanted…
The alpha women who hung out would be sure to turn music down, knock to ask if everything was alright in there, etc.. After the O’s, often Sarah would tease to make them earn theirs, then leave ‘em dry (Not 2 mention no cuddle time offered) they were sent on their way- I was often witness to the disturbing walk of shame where they’d come out, all doe eyed, paranoid and disgusted, either crying or trying hard to avoid eye contact with the Lilith matriarchs who waited backstage or in Suite living rooms, and would make nasty comments to them as they scurried away, “There goes the magic”, was a common jab… Then Sarah herself would come out and complain about how none of these innocent ones she was attracted to would resist, and about how either their breath, technique, or passivity made it all a chore, and how she took it out on them with this or that device- (they had their sex toys named)

Nope, never never liked that first Lilith tour much 4 all of that, and thought about earning more $ on the new one, but… blech…. I’ve seen enough of their “Vampire Scenes”..
