Levi Alves McConaughey Gets Man Boyhandled
By his overzealous nanny

Ouch!! Little Levi Alves McConaughey, first born son of Matthew McConaughey and his babymama Camila Alves, spent part of his yesterday frolicking on the beach with his pet dogs and his very aggressive nanny*. Wanna know how I know the nanny is aggressive? Check out how she likes to yank around the little kid when she grabs a hold of him:

No matter how much fun kids think it is, children at this age should not be lifted up and yanked by their arms … and they really shouldn’t be yanked by one arm like this. It is my understanding that at this very young age, kids’ muscles and tendons are still being formed and trauma to their joints like this can do damage … plus, it does look painful. Now, I’m not sure that Levi‘s parents are aware that their little boy is being yanked around like this but I know I wouldn’t want anyone manhandling my child like this. Poor thing :(

But, Levi‘s day at the beach wasn’t all bad … he got to spend some time playing with the family dogs. After the jump, check out two more photos of Levi at the beach with his furry buddies …

At least these little guys won’t be yanking Levi‘s appendages out of their sockets … well, not anytime soon.

*UPDATE: It turns out that this aggressive woman is NOT Levi‘s nanny … it’s his grandmother, Camila Alves‘s mother! Lord … help that child!

    psycho nanny

How old is Levi? While yanking is never good, pediatric guidlines allow for lifting a child by their arms (picture a less strenuous scenario than the one above, like using both arms to lift a child by their arms and say “weee” or something equally game like at the same time) around the age of 18 months.

It kind of looks to me that she’s pulling Levi out of the retreating wave though. . . so while yanking isn’t great, it may be better than him being swept of his feet and into the water.

  3. Anna says:

I think she is just trying to keep him from being swept into the sea by a wave. I’d be more worried about the dogs.

  4. snowball says:

I would never, ever pick my son up like that. If she was that worried, she certainly could have dropped what she has in her other hand and picked him up properly.

Or maybe she should actually be a good nanny and watch little Levi so he isn’t put in the position of being swept out to sea by a little tide.

It’s one thing to be normal income people and employ a nanny who probably hates her job, but you just know Matthew is probably paying this woman a fortune to be responsible and watch Levi like a hawk.

oh god. i highly doubt the child is going to suffer any damage. he may have been about to step on something and she just reacted. who really knows, but this definately is not a big deal.

When I was a little kid, my dad one time was swinging me around by both arms (I was older though; I was more like 4 or 5). Anywho one of my hands slipped out of his, and he kept swinging me around even though he was only holding me by one of my arms at that point. The result was my elbow getting pulled out of socket haha … NOT a fun experience at all. I still remember it to this day because I had to sleep with it like that all night and it felt SO weird and wrong (it happened right before bed). They took me to the doc the next morning and the doc popped it back into place. Such a creepy feeling! Thanks a lot, Dad. ;-)

So point being, yeah it’s probably not the best idea to pick up a kid this young by one arm. :-P

This beyotch would be so fired!!!

Amen Trent – I LOVE your knowledge of children unlike other bloggers.
That is VERY bad for his arm & if I’m paying someone to watch my child they better treat them even better than I do!!!

  9. me says:

Not cool. I would have a word with that nanny. That is not healthy. Children’s arms at that age dislocate from this sort of handling. Someone should forward this to the family.

  10. I remember a friend having her upper arm dislocated after being handled this way.

  11. loulou says:

That is NOT safe. Kids arm dislocate like this. I’m sure she means no harm but this is how crappy accidents happen.

  12. come back to earth says:

what, do you hope your uneducated comments are going to get this nanny fired? yeah, i’m sure you can really judge the entire scenario by a photo that was snapped during a fraction of a second.

  13. Karen says:

I hope they see these pics so they can stop this from happening again. If she doesn’t even have the forethought to use both hands and pick him up like a normal parent would she is probably doing all kinds of other things wrong too. This is coming from the mouth of a concerned parent though. My son is 6 and still has never had a babysitter.

  14. Tiffany says:

Totally not safe. When I’m lifting my kids away from waves or whatever, I used 2 hands :-/ Where are the parents? Matthew works but what exactly does Camila do while all pregs and stuff?

  15. K says:

Uh, yeah… you can snap/break/dislocate a little kids arms INCREDIBLY easy by swinging or grabbing their arms like this. ANYONE with the responsibility of a watching a little one should know better!!!

  16. Kim says:

My little cousin had his shoulder dilocated when he was a toddler from someone just picking him up by the arm. Kids are fragile!

  17. Alichia says:

OMG! Parents should NOT lift their kids up like that! TRUST ME. My mom did it to me when i was about that age and pulled my arm right out of socket! Had to go to the emergency room. Luckily I was so young I don’t remember, but little kids are fragile! Yikes.

  18. PixiesBassline says:

I am just as annoyed by the comments by people who don’t think this is a bad thing! I don’t care if it happened in a fraction of a second, or if she was trying to pull him away from the tide – she could have used both hands. There are multiple bad things that could happen from holding a child in this manner. They may not be EXTREMELY fragile, but they ARE still fragile! I’ve NEVER picked a child up by one arm.

  19. Leisha says:

They seem to be in about an inch of water. Not enough, IMHO, to warrant this kind of arm-pulling.

  20. Heather says:

I feel like we’ve had this argument here before?

Read somewhere that the woman is Camilla’s mother, not a nanny. Just FYI.
