First Look: Adam Lambert, ‘For Your Entertainment’
Adam Lambert, the most recent American Idol runner-up, posted a tweet message on his official Twitter profile alerting his followers of the release of the official cover artwork for his debut album titled For Your Entertainment. Here is a tease of what the cover looks like along with Glambert’s tweet announcement:

Album cover revealed on adamofficial.com. Glam is back!!!
Prepare yourself for what’s to come … I’m not sure that even staunch Glambert fans are properly prepared to see this new cover artwork. Think Jem and the Holograms meets Liberace. After the jump, if you dare, see the full size album artwork for Adam Lambert’s For Your Entertainment …

I’m … speechless. That he actually approved this coverphoto is … stunning. I was unaware that a single human being could wear that much make-up … you know, seriously. I don’t … really … know what to say. Considering some of the photoshoots that Lambert has done in the past, I suppose this shouldn’t be all that surprising … and yet … it is. I, quite simply, have no words. What do y’all think? Do you find this album artwork truly, truly, truly outrageous?

For some strange reason his mouth in this photo reminds me of Jessica Simpson…I agree Trent – he looks very Jem like but pretty in a strange way…lol.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
I’m sorry but men (gay or not) dressing as women and or wearing that much make-up pretty much repulses me.
October 27th, 2009 at 5:51 pm
wow… just, wow, this is just too ridiculous for words
October 27th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
I don’t particularly care what his album looks like…I care what his music sounds like.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I absolutely love his artwork ! It’s beautiful.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
i dunno…i think having it a bit manly would have worked better. but i have a feeling this “glam” thing is gunna be worked like Rihannas/Gagas over the top looks.
whatever sells i guess.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:06 pm
Well, he does like makeup. That is no shocker. They just airbrushed the hell out of it. I don’t like it at all regardless. I guess I was expecting something more. It is pretty blah for me. Can’t wait to hear the music though :)
October 27th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
Maybe it’s the cosmic backround and fading torso that’s throwing me off…Then again…maybe not. Such a handsome boy shouldn’t have to try so hard ;-(
October 27th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
What a shame. What a sham. Everything about it is wrong.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
You know I was kind of pulling for him on AI but now I’m really glad he DIDN’T win. This is just tooooo in your face.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:14 pm
It’s a bit Boy George circa 1983. And that’s actually a sincere compliment. It really makes me think of the cover for Culture Club’s ‘Karma Chameleon’ – probably due to the yellow eye shadow and cat-like lines.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
When he was on AI I really thought he looked so handsome the weeks when he was more “manly”. It’s not that I am turned off by the make-up (I mean face it, he is who he is) it’s just not his best look.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
I heart Adam :)
I don’t care how much makeup he has on or how over the top he is. He is amazing, I can’t wait to hear his album!! I’ve heard his single Want, and I love it.
He can do whatever he wants, whatever makes him happy. I think a lot of women are jealous that he looks so much prettier then they do lol
October 27th, 2009 at 6:19 pm
He totally looks like Jem. I’m having flashbacks of my jem coloring books.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
It’s not THAT bad… that’s just his thing. And it’s hella airbrushed.
And you didn’t know a human could wear that much makeup? Have you SEEN a drag queen ever? Haha
October 27th, 2009 at 6:35 pm
i have to agree, trent, that even as a staunch fan of Adam, i am having mixed feelings about this album cover. it does represent what he wants to display – glam rock, but maybe a little too much. i don’t know, i love him, i can’t wait to hear his album, but i’m not too thrilled by the cover. i actually much prefer his ‘james dean look’ in the DETAILS mag photoshoot.
October 27th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
When I saw this I immediately thought of those godawful (yet strangely captivating) ‘Highlander’ movies & tv show…
October 27th, 2009 at 6:38 pm
Wow. just wow. And not a good wow. Love his music, though!
October 27th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
what is going on with those fonts?
October 27th, 2009 at 7:06 pm
At first I thought the first picture was Taylor Swift, and the full cover looks like Taylors Swift and Lautner’s kid! ha! That’s weird.
October 27th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
@Rob Forget the drag queens, every single picture of Kim Kardashian has that much makeup lol
October 27th, 2009 at 7:18 pm
@Siobhan — LMAOOOOOO
October 27th, 2009 at 7:39 pm
I LOVE Adam… but this cover is just… yuck. What the hell?!?!?!
October 27th, 2009 at 7:44 pm
I like Adam, but when I look at this.. I can see one of those old “Nice Price” stickers slapped on it, and it’s sitting in the discount bin.
October 27th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Okay you know what. I’m a huge Adam fan… I adored his glam rocker look on Idol, I loved his style… but WTF is this crap?
I’m praying that this is a joke.
October 27th, 2009 at 7:50 pm
Good for him. It’s over the top, but look at Kelly Clarkson & Carrie Underwood’s album/singles: airbrushed & touched up just as much. On it’s own merit, it’s very pretty & 80’s rock glam, a la Poison. Not what I would have picked for him –but you have to admit, no one else is doing it, male or female. Even Rhianna’s edgy look isn’t this pretty. Although Lindsey had a 80’s-looking album cover awhile back, didn’t she? Keep doing your OWN thing, Adam.
October 27th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
Oh.. Adam.. no!
October 27th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
Very Boy George.
I wonder if he was a fan?
October 27th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
It would be fine if it wasn’t so 80s with the sapce background and the font and the fading torso. And that’s waaaay too much photoshoping.
Plus I think somehow this makes him look fat. The arm, or the glove, or something makes him look fat.
I think he should have gone for something more edgy.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:08 pm
WAY too feminine, dated, and cheesy. Having a cover most people are embarrassed to be seen with is not going to help sales!
I suspect Boy George & Marilyn Manson wear tons of makeup to detract from the fact that they’re actually pretty ugly. Adam Lambert, on the other hand, is not!
October 27th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
Jeffree Star meets Jessica Simpson meets Boy George and SERIOUSLY what’s with those fonts?!
October 27th, 2009 at 9:16 pm
That first picture totally looks like the pumpkin I just carved. Weird? Yes. But reality.
October 27th, 2009 at 9:25 pm
It is not the make up, not the styling, not even the photoshopping, it is all about that pose!!! I do not think he realizes that it is hard to except him in such a Lady-Gaga-loves-the-gays manner. He has the opportunity to walk the line of androgyny, in the likes of David Bowie, Boy George, or Prince and he just goes all gay on us with that pose!
October 27th, 2009 at 9:31 pm
my first thought was ‘omg he looks like pink!” hehe mm he has looked better, and this cover might alienate some casual listeners, but hey, props to him for being so gay…?
October 27th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
Aldo..that is beyond gay…its other worldly gay like the cosmic background..
October 27th, 2009 at 10:03 pm
he’s gorgeous not going to den that, but idk about this being an album cover it looks like a MAC ad.
October 27th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
he’s a decent-looking guy. why ruin it with so much makeup? same thing happens to plenty of gorgeous women. PEOPLE, you don’t need to turn yourself into a wax figure!
October 27th, 2009 at 10:05 pm
P.S. My boyfriend put it best – “rivals brooke hogan.”
October 27th, 2009 at 10:28 pm
I am having a serious flashback to the 80’s…creepy
October 27th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
Is he trying to be David Bowie now?! This is extremely photoshopped! He has huge acne pits on his face and the makeup is absurd. Gross!
October 27th, 2009 at 11:20 pm
he looks like Pink.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:20 pm
I’m having mixed feelings about this covah. On one end, it looks like Team Lambert’s channeling someone like Pete Burns of Dead or Alive. And on the other end, well, it is rather different. Anyway, don’t judge the book by its cover they say. Hope the music is better than his latest release.
October 27th, 2009 at 11:37 pm
and the pose reminds me of a Tiffany x Madonna hybrid album cover from both of their self titled albums.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:07 am
I like the glam look. I’m just mad he can do his makeup better than I can!
October 28th, 2009 at 12:35 am
barfness
October 28th, 2009 at 1:37 am
I love it. I bet the whole thing was his idea, and the fact that a bunch of stiffs in suits were willing to spend a LOT of money for this cheesy as shit look – well, I’m happy to see such a sense of humour from who appears to be a great guy with great talent gracing an album cover. It’s the fans who started calling him Glambert, remember. They’ve created a very sexy monster!
October 28th, 2009 at 2:42 am
I suppose Tokio Hotel arn’t that big in America…
The singer has way more make-up (and he is a guy) on a regular day!
October 28th, 2009 at 3:30 am
too gay to function
October 28th, 2009 at 4:34 am
How can people like this PERSON. I mean he don’t have talent except for having some annoying high pitch voice. He will never be the next Freddy Mercury but then again no one will. This douche is just totally overrated and going down the Lady Gaga attention seeking, outrageous trying to be different look. I mean, all American Idol contestants do is sing. Minus a few like Kelly and Carrie who actually do have some talent (and actually won) this guy just thinks he should have won and therefore warrants an album and attention. Ugh stop posting about him Trent, PLEASE!
October 28th, 2009 at 4:54 am
@parker I totally thought the same thing. I thought it WAS Pink when I scrolled past it. I thought, I wonder what Pink is up to these days, read the headline and died laughing.
Then I saw the space background and thought of all those awesome portrait backgrounds of the 80s!
I hope his album isn’t as cheesy and narcissistic as this cover art!
October 28th, 2009 at 5:12 am
He looks like a combo of Pink, Jessica Simpson, and Jem
October 28th, 2009 at 5:35 am
I love him but it looks like the cover of a porn movie, not that there is anything wrong with porn but damn…
October 28th, 2009 at 5:53 am
I think it’s important that he come out strong and individual and if a man wearing makeup bothers you that much, then YOU have issues, not Adam. Get over it! It’s 2009!!! Men have been wearing this look for ages: David Bowie, THE 80s!! It’s not new.
October 28th, 2009 at 5:55 am
not sexy. It’s important to color your androgyny with both the masculine AND feminine. He’s got no masculinity in this cover. Not to mention the cheesy fonts, brutal airbrushing, and see-through clavicle. Adam, Doll, you coulda’ done better.
October 28th, 2009 at 5:59 am
LOL. So reminds me of a Jem doll I had in the 80’s. Good analogy, Trent.
But seriously, I can’t believe he choose this cover! He is so all over the place with his image. I see photos of him making out with his boyfriend, on magazine covers kissing girls and now he has ventured into transexual.
October 28th, 2009 at 6:42 am
what the frick?!?!
October 28th, 2009 at 6:51 am
It’s like he is trying to be a super lame version of 1980s David Bowie.
October 28th, 2009 at 7:02 am
I’m hating the hand on the face personally. I like boy make-up alright, but you gotta look a little tough at the same time
October 28th, 2009 at 7:54 am
I think he looks beautiful!!! I find it so funny that people assume he wears make up for attention, instead of considering that maybe he wears it because HE LIKES IT. People are so judgmental, and I gotta say “more power to ya” to the people who ignore those that sit on the sidelines being catty, and have the courage to do whatever the heck they want.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:00 am
Yikes. That pose is almost worse than the makeup.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:11 am
@Krissy: I don’t care if Adam layers 20 coats of foundation on every day, paints his nails fuschia and uses yellow eyeliner. The question was, does this album cover look like poo? I have the courage to stand up and say, “hell, yeah.” He’s too airbrushed and managed to make his recognizable face, well..unrecognizable.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:13 am
I never watched this season of AI, the only reason I know who Adam is is because my friend is obsessed with him and keeps spamming me with pictures of him. I always wondered why he wears so much friggin makeup all the time, then she showed me a picture of him without makeup. The guy is a natural red head and has more freckles than Ron Weasley. Have you ever seen his arms?
October 28th, 2009 at 8:18 am
I LOVE Adam, but no, just no.
The cover is terrible. But I always upload my albums straight to my iPod anyway, so it’s not really that big of a deal.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:22 am
Madonna keeps reinventing herself for a reason…this is a world of no from the Madonna 80’s collection! What the hell was he thinking? It was a bad idea on people 20 years ago and it’s a bad idea now!
October 28th, 2009 at 8:36 am
it’s official – the 80s are back with a vengeance.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:36 am
He kills me. He’s killed me ever since his first audition. I’m a friendly person you know, I really am..and generally people don’t get on my nerves…but guys, I can’t STAND Adam Lambert. Whyyyyyyyyy I don’t know. But he drives me insane with his SCREECHING.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:37 am
If the music is glam then the cover is brilliant and fun, if it is random pop trash then the cover makes no sense.
October 28th, 2009 at 8:45 am
@azureesque — The 80’s trend has been in full force for the past 3 years, Adam’s a bit tardy for the party on this trend.
October 28th, 2009 at 9:21 am
I think I love it! He can be our generation’s DAvid Bowie, Queen, Boy George….
October 28th, 2009 at 9:43 am
He makes a prettier woman than I do!
It’s a risky cover, for sure. Whether it hurts him or helps remains to be seen.
October 28th, 2009 at 9:58 am
From Adam’s twitter:
“Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy. It’s a homage to the past. It IS ridiculous.”
“For those that don’t get it: oh well… Glad to have gotten your attention.”
Personally, this is pretty much exactly what I expected from Adam. He’s always been ridiculous and over the top. People are forgetting what he was like BEFORE he went on American Idol. His outfits were even more ridiculous and outlandish. He toned it down a LOT for Idol, and now he’s going back to that side of his personality, and I’m all for it.
October 28th, 2009 at 10:23 am
SO Jem & The Holograms! It’s actually growing on me. It’s so ridiculous, it’s kind of amazing. It’s way more Jem/Olivia Newton-John than David Bowie though. David B’s stuff always had an avant-garde, rock edge. This is pure cheesiness. But I think I might like it? I guess it will depend on the music. I was never his biggest fan because it was all too musical-theatre for my taste. But props to him for being true to himself!
October 28th, 2009 at 10:41 am
I definitely think “Jem and the Holograms meets Liberace” is perfect for what I’m seeing. :-D
October 28th, 2009 at 11:06 am
I can understand classics like David bowie wearing a ton of makeup, it was with a whole package and had a personality you could tell right away. Adam intended this to be ridiculous , but someone, idk the album artist maybe , didn’t quite kick it in the right direction. Just doesn’t feel as natural as bowie did. He doesn’t have to be bowie but I’m saying it wasn’t done quite right imo.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:08 am
Snowball, I don’t know if necessarily takes courage to bash someone anonymously online, but you are more than entitled to your opinion. I wasn’t talking about the people who dislike it, rather I was commenting on the people that try to make assumptions about why he wears what he does (trying to shock, be david bowie, etc.). IMO, Adam is just doing what he wants to do. Take it or leave it. I don’t think he is trying to get everyone to be his fan, rather I think he is playing to the people that like what he likes.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:09 am
It’s gorgeous and very, very Adam. He’s constantly pushing boundaries, why would his album cover be any different.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:10 am
Well he makes a very lovely lady if I do say so.
My first reaction was something like this “D:?!”
October 28th, 2009 at 11:20 am
The thing for me is that he isn’t original; not at all. Sure, he has what some consider a strong voice, a talent for hitting some extreme notes, is definitely talented, whether all like him or not, but he isn’t original. He’s a truckload full of gaffle. He doesn’t feel like he pays homage to his history of “glam” and androgynous, but more like he takes what he perceives is the essence of those times and tries to make it his own. He just doesn’t feel authentic in his performing preference skin…he seems like he would swing with whatever would make him famous and happy, which is cool if that’s all you strive for. He hasn’t shown any originality, and all the talk of vaunted changing the landscape…can’t do that if all you’re doing is replanting what others bred.
Cover? No likey. Not because it could be called femme, but because it looks like Rainbow Brite threw up on Debbie Gibson and it was all captured by Lisa Frank.
October 28th, 2009 at 11:42 am
it looks like this:
One day not so long ago, david bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and Jem drank too much smoked a little something magical and made some bad decisions. Nine months later this little glamazon was born covered in glitter and the rest is history.
October 28th, 2009 at 12:08 pm
[...] First Look: Adam Lambert, ‘For Your Entertainment’ (pinkisthenewblog.com) [...]
October 28th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
@Jay: Lisa Frank!! OMG! Totally! So funny. I almost wish there were a unicorn or falling star in the background or something. Again, I think I like it because it is so very cheesy ridiculous. .
October 28th, 2009 at 1:18 pm
So my eyes popped and stayed that way for like 10 seconds. Haha.
-meream
October 28th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
can his tired 5 minutes of fame be up now, this guy is such a joke.
October 28th, 2009 at 3:51 pm
What’s with the Vulcan eyebrows?
October 28th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
It reminds me of that movie from the 80s that David Bowie was in…Labyrinth…
October 28th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
I assume all that makeup is to cover up all the acne scars more than anything else. Man can sing, but his teenage years were not kind to his skin.
October 28th, 2009 at 5:24 pm
didn’t anyone else just literally laugh out loud? i know i did…
October 28th, 2009 at 6:05 pm
almost speechless. i would never have know this was him. i keep going back up to stare at it. everything is wrong about this. just… everything….
(and i’m a fan)
October 28th, 2009 at 7:10 pm
LOVE LOVE LOVE. Reminds me of the Poison cover for “Look What The Cat Dragged In” mixed with Duran Duran. You go girl!!!!
October 28th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
glamour and glitter, fashion and fame…. i guess Adam just wanted to be truly, truly, truly outrageous…
October 29th, 2009 at 4:36 am
I’m getting a Ziggy Stardust vibe off this. Or Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran, circa “7 & the Ragged Tiger”.
October 29th, 2009 at 6:04 am
Trent I LOVE YOU! If we lived in the same state I swear we could be best friends! This soooooo screams Jem! And Glambert is truly outrageous!
October 29th, 2009 at 9:12 am
I get it. People need to lighten up! I can’t believe the outrage this has caused.
October 29th, 2009 at 9:16 am
@Meagan — I don’t think people are outraged, I know I’m not. I’m too bizzy laughing my booty off ;)
October 29th, 2009 at 4:30 pm
I think it is beautiful and fun. I don’t understand why people continue to be shocked by Adam. If you are a fan and have followed him since Idol, you should be prepared to celebrate everything that he does. He is not pushing it to the limits, there are no limits and we need an entertainer that is willing to take us beyond what we are comfortable with. To fully enjoy Adam, you better learn to strap on your jet pack and take a ride like nothing you have ever imagined. I love him so much for not allowing anyone to box him in. What an awesome and remarkable man.
October 29th, 2009 at 8:10 pm
Oh dear God.
I love me some Adam Lambert, but this cover is ridiculous. He’s so airbrushed he’s almost see-through. I don’t see why everyone is so fixated on the makeup, I’m more concerned about the ridiculous pose, the eighties font… everything about it just… sucks.
October 29th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
the first photo reminded me of tom cruise in interview with a vampire.
October 30th, 2009 at 11:10 am
I love Adam and I am 50 years old. He is so
talented and fun to watch and I think he is
a cutie, makeup and all…. <3
October 30th, 2009 at 12:43 pm
It IS Jem! ROFL! Love Adam’s voice, but I’m thinking he could have used an assist with the cover artwork. Yow.
October 31st, 2009 at 8:42 am
THAT IS ACTUALLY DISGUSTING! I just vommed a little in my mouth after seeing that. It looks like something straight out of the 80’s! Like a boy george cover.. yuckkkk.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:09 am
Looks alot like something Sylvester would have done. I can’t wait to hear the album
