Plans Are In The Works For ‘The Blair Witch Project 3’

Part 3 will more of a sequel rather than a prequel
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

This year is the 10th anniversary of The Blair Witch Project (which many folks are making allusions to after seeing the new film Paranormal Activity) and the film’s creators are talking about a new sequel film which is in the works. The plan had been to make a prequel to the original film to tell the origin tale of the Blair Witch but it turns out that a sequel that will continue the story is now in the works. While I LOVED the original film, I absolutely loathed the sequel film The Blair Witch Project 2: Book of Shadows. It is among my all time hated movies … it’s soooo bad. I hope that part 3 will help undo some of the damage done by part 2 cuz, as I said, I really love the original film:

The third “Blair Witch” movie is likely to be a sequel rather than prequel. To Bloody-Disgusting, Eduardo Sanchez, the filmmaker behind the hit 1999 horror “The Blair Witch Project”, unraveled the plan he and directing and writing partner Daniel Myrick have for “Blair Witch 3″. “Between Dan and me and the Haxan guys that did the original Blair Witch, we are about as far along on a sequel idea as we’ve ever been,” he explained. “This is the first idea that Dan and I have really latched onto that we thought, ‘It would be cool.’ It’s a completely different kind of film, but we think it’s in the original spirit of the first one.” “Everybody that I’ve talked to wants the prequel, that story of the witch,” the filmmaker further revealed that he and Dan haven’t thrown away prequel idea. “We still want to make that, but the powers that be will not let that happen right now. If we do the sequel and it makes some money and there’s motivation to do another one, then maybe we can push the prequel a little bit.” As for when the confirmation on the project will be outed, he said, “In the next couple of weeks, something should happen; either a yes or a no or a maybe.” He added, “I don’t know how we’re going to release the story or whatever, but something’s probably going to happen by the end of the year where we’ll either say, ‘No, it’s not going to happen’ or hopefully, ‘Yes, it’s gonna happen.’ But the news is coming soon.” The original “Blair Witch” is presented as a documentary pieced together from amateur footage. Produced by the Haxan Films production company, it tells the story of three young student filmmakers who go missing while attempting to film a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch. A sequel called “Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2″ was released on October 27, 2000.

Depending on your perspective, The Blair Witch Project was either a great horror film or a big disappointing horror film. I saw it before it opened, before the hype got too crazy and I loved it!! Seeing the movie for the first time was really one of those joyful surprises for me … I had no expectations and was totally blown away. I felt the same thing seeing Paranormal Activity (tho, allusions to Paranormal being like Blair Witch did clue me in as to what to expect). I lost all faith in the movie’s producers when I saw Blair Witch 2 … that movie was just garbage. I hope that if they do make another film that they put the same care into it that they used for the original film. In horror, sometimes less is more … I am much more receptive to subtle terror rather than over the top gore.

Are You Afraid Of The Dark?

The TV Guide
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Last night my dear, dear friend Charlie hosted a private screening of the new horror film Paranormal Activity on the Paramount Studios Lot for a group of our friends and we had the best time ever!! You may have heard some of the buzz surrounding Paranormal Activity (that it is the new Blair Witch Project and that it is the “scariest movie ever”). I can attest that the movie is scary and it does come across like Blair Witch … it’s really a fantastic movie and the consensus was that everyone loved it:

Without giving too much away (because I feel the movie works best if you see it cold), the story revolves around footage made by a couple in San Diego, CA who believe they are being haunting by … something. The movie is made of that “footage”. Much like The Blair Witch Project turned Hollywood on its ear by turning a DIY approach into something very cool, Paranormal works in the same way. I kid you not … the movie is freaky and you WILL think about it after you finish seeing it (particularly, the ending). It’s a fun, scary movie y’all … you gotta see it. Check ParanormalMovie.com to see if it’s playing in your area and if it’s not, DEMAND that they show it in your area. It’s soooooooo creepy scary, I think you will LOVE it. If you are looking for a bit more spoilery info about this movie, THIS review by the LA Times is a great one.

After the movie, some of us posed for a photo:

Some of us were feeling shy and didn’t want to pose but we all had a great time. Darion, his friend Yasmin, Josh, David and I made our way to Luna Park for late dinner and drinks to finish out the night. So much fun … ’til we had to go home and turn off the lights and go to sleep :(

Filming Continues On The Set Of ‘The Green Hornet’

Call in the stuntman
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Yesterday we got our first look at Seth Rogen on the set of The Green Hornet as The Green Hornet and today we get to see a few more photos from the SoCal set. Production filmed an exciting action sequence that required lots of cable-work … therefore, Seth and co-star Jay Chou sat by the sidelines while their able stuntmen took over for a while:

Unlike action superstar Tom Cruise who has no problem doing his own dangerous scenes in his movies, Seth seems content to let a stuntman take the risks for him. Shoot, I can’t say that I blame him one bit. Altho I’m not a Green Hornet fan (mainly because I’ve never seen/read/watched anything Green Hornet related before) I am very curious about this new film. As I’ve said before, I’m not sure that Seth Rogen is my perfect image of a superhero but if he plays it funny like Robert Downey, Jr. did in Iron Man, I think he may be able to pull it off. Time will tell … we’ll just have to see.

Kim Zolciak & Patti Stanger Have Lunch At The Ivy

Too much tragicness for one blogpost
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Two of Bravo TV’s most tragic reality TV stars, Kim Zolciak from The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Patti Stranger from Millionaire Matchmaker, met up for a quiet lunch together at The Ivy on Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA this week. It seems evident from the choice of restaurant (ie. The Ivy tends to attract photographers like poop attracts flies) that the ladies were hoping to attract as much attention as possible … which befuddles me, considering that each woman is the epitome of tragedy individually and only look more tragic when paired together:

It kinda pains me that these people are famous for being who they are … because, IMHO, they are pretty sad beings. Kim has made a career out of being a gold-digging mistress in a bad wig and Patti has made a career pimping out women to high-paying desperate men. As much as I love watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kim’s involvement makes me ill. I’ve long since tired of her gross behavior with her married lover and with her poor children and now that she thinks she can “sing” because of the “hit” song that was written and produced for her … ugh, she’s just nauseating. I cannot imagine that anyone would want to be famous like that. I don’t even watch the Matchmaker show … selling women to the highest bidder just is not entertaining to me. Oh I know Stranger calls herself a “matchmaker” but c’mon … we know what’s really going on. For the most part, Bravo has brought us some very entertaining reality TV stars but these two are not among them. Their pairing just highlights that not everyone on TV should be admired … on the contrary, they should be avoided at all costs. Blech.

Sean Penn Likes To Kick Ass

Literally
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Actor Sean Penn has a long history of hatred towards the paparazzi, going back to the 80’s when he gained much fame for being married to Madonna, and it looks like old habits die hard. Penn was being photographed by a videographer this week and decided that he didn’t like it very much … so he decided to kick the pap in the ass. Natch, the paparazzo is now suing Penn for assault:

Sean Penn went ballistic on a paparazzo this afternoon — and we’ve learned the photog just filed a police report against the actor. The cameraman — Jordan Dawes (not a TMZ guy) — is accusing Penn of battery after a confrontation near the Brentwood Country Mart in Los Angeles, where Sean had just eaten lunch. Penn was seen kicking and hitting the photographer on a side-street multiple times before leaving. Sean’s rep had no comment.

Seriously, if Sean Penn hasn’t stopped this behavior by now … there’s no way he’s going to stop. Whether he gets sued or not, whether he is forced to pay for damages or not, I’m pretty certain that Sean Penn will continue to whip paparazzi ass to his heart’s content … so photograph him at your own peril.
