The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards Pays Tribute To Michael Jackson
Check out the new video promo
Earlier this week it was announced that Janet Jackson will open the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, airing live from Radio City Music Hall in NYC, NY this Sunday night, by paying tribute to the memory of her late brother, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Today we get to see a new promo video that was created by MTV in honor of MJ‘s legacy and promote the upcoming VMAs … check it out:
It’s a very subtle, quite fitting tribute. There is no way that MTV can throw a VMAs event this year and not pay homage to the man who essentially put MTV on the map in the 1980′s. I’m pretty sure this video is but the first of many tributes that will be paid to the late King of Pop at this weekend’s VMAs event.

I think MTV will do a good job paying tribute to the king of pop, BET tried but that show was badly produced and rushed it seemed like
Why did MTV even question whether there should be a VMA tribute to the KING of Music Videos. It really bothered me that they asked people on twitter whether they should do one. I was like Why is this even a question? I think it will be an amazing tribute though.
@Dori, thats cause the BET one was rushed…it was all thrown together last minute, it would have been better if they just put together a tv special.
i cant watch this cause im in Canada but im curious to see how this all goes. Im just excited to see janet back on stage.
MJ broke the color barrier on MTV y’all
It would have been that much better if they had left the sound at the end off and had just had the information on the screen.
that’s sooo sad. :( i miss mj.
i hope they do him justice…considering mtv hasn’t been good SINCE the 80′s!!1
