‘Spider-Man IV’ Hits Theaters In 2011
Bring on the Carnage

Good/Bad news (depending on your perspective) Spidey fans … according to the Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures has announced that they will be releasing the 4th Spider-Man film in May 2011. Altho much of the casting has yet to be determined, Sony seems confident that they’ll have a new Spider-Man movie ready to hit IMAX theaters in about 19 months:

In less than 19 months, Spidey again will be slinging webs around Imax theaters. Sony said Tuesday that “Spider-Man 4″ will be released in Imax’s specialty venues simultaneously with the comic book actioner’s worldwide bow in conventional venues on Thursday, May 6, 2011. The scheduled opening gives the film a one-day jump on the first frame of the 2011 summer boxoffice season. Imax also participated in the theatrical release of the past two “Spider-Man” pics. “The ‘Spider-Man’ franchise has been so important to the growth of our network and fan base over the years,” Imax Filmed Entertainment president Greg Foster said.

I know many fans, me included, are worried about this 4th installment of the Spider-Man franchise. Not only was the 3rd Spidey film not so great but Sony seems to be piecing this film together just to milk some more $$$ out of the franchise. I suppose if they manage to get all of the important castmembers back on board and if they produce a killer script then Spider-Man IV could be a great addition to the franchise … but that’s a lotta “ifs” for a movie banking on a box office hit. I guess we shall see.

Eeeekkk!!!! This has disaster written all over it. Rarely do sequels (usually after #2) work. When will Hollywood movie makers understand that viewers want quality..not quantity. All these re-makes, part III’s and IV’s etc of movies is ridiculous. I just saw a preview for Bring it on-I don’t even know what # they’re on. Gah! As a movie buff, it’s sooo frustrating.

  2. @Trent and everybody in general…am I the only person who thinks this is a REALLY good idea? So let’s say this movie comes out and it totally blows….so what…at least we got to see an amazing trilogy! I don’t think adding a fourth will ruin the rest of the series. Superman 4 bombed but it didn’t take away any of the brilliance of the original trilogy. And besides, it beats them just remaking the whole series with different actors in 5-6 years anyway, which we know is going to happen, like they are doing with X-Men: First Class now..

19 months? I know these movies cost more and more each year to make and you have to promote, but what happened to pimping a movie a few months before it comes out? Back in the day, did they promote the Superman movies 2 years in advance? We still have to wait 9 months for iron Man II? Is Dr. Conners finally going to turn into the Lizard?

Spiderman has a great number of villians that can keep this franchise going for maybe 3 more movies. This poster does have some clues to who the villains will be. one hint i see is just the word carnage…

Carnage was a symbiotic Marvel comic book supervillain, spawn of Venom; notable adversary of Spider-Man and archenemy of Venom.

They can also go with Dr. Connors transformation to Lizard.

In the Ultimate Marvel series, Carnage is a self-regenerating form of life based on the symbiotic suit research of Richard Parker, created by Curt Conners and consists of his own DNA and that of Peter Parker, which at the time contained samples of the Venom symbiote.

    So two characters right there.

    Just wanted to chime in…

The ONE and ONLY good thing coming from this is that Bruce Campbell, the greatest actor of all time, gets a much bigger role in the movie. You have to know his work to get what I’m saying.

Uhh I’ll only watch if James Franco is in it, and considering he died in the last movie… I guess I won’t be seeing this one.

3 sucked so i doubt there many fanboys looking forward to spiderman 4, and more crying peter parker.

  8. QIT says:

3 sucked ass but if rumors are true i think we might be seeing carnage which heres hoping means hopefully some kick ass scenes, but personally i say replace the leads with new actors everyone is over tobey and well dunst is simply done! lol

  9. Alex says:

uhhh kristen dunst as MJ rocked, and yeah tobey is a bit boring but idk i re-watched the trilogy and it’s not that bad. I actually like all films

Watching Spider-Man 3 in the theater literally made my brain vomit. I remember I got extremely mad at my mom because I wanted to watch it at the midnight release but I had school the next day and she wouldn’t let me. Then, I saw it on Friday and apologized to her because it sucked so much it wouldn’t have been worth it to deprived of sleep the night day. The dancing, hair, etc. was just flat-out horrible. Where are they going to go from here? I think the reason why it also sucked was because they had two, well three villains all simultaneously. Seriously, VENOM should’ve been the villain and I would be happy. Who cares about the sandman and his litter box? Nonsense I say! I won’t be spending my cool cash for this shizz. NoTHANX

  11. CHASE says:

Apparently I can’t form a sentence together so ignore everything with errors above me. FML

  12. It's All Good says:

I have NEVER bought that teeny little Toby dude as Spidey, so I have no hopes for this movie being any better than that last piece of crap.
