Paula Abdul Wields Her Spirit Stick
Former American Idol judge but Forever Your Girl Paula Abdul was spotted leaving her hotel here in NYC yesterday as she made her way to the Brooklyn Academy of Music for the VH1 Divas event last night … as you can see, she was wielding a fairly sizable spirit stick … behold:
As a former cheerleader, it makes sense that Paula would be schooled in the use of a twirling baton but I’m not sure why she needs to carry it with her in public. Perhaps she felt the need to drive away the hordes of fans and paparazzi who were trying to get near her or, oh right, mebbe she’s just crazy. All in all, tho, I have to give it up for her for handing her replacement on American Idol so well. She really shot herself in the foot by playing hardball with AI during negotiations … and now all she’s left with his her spirit stick. At least no one can take her stick away from her.

She did look amazing last night – the Ellen dance skit was hilarious…she was better at dancing like Ellen than Ellen is, haha.

Can I just say how much better she looks in clothes that fit? Seriously, those dresses 2 sizes two small that she wore on Idol were painful. And she looks FABulous in this casual everyday outfit. Get a clue!

I was thinking the same thing, BriK – too thin. Maybe it’s all the dancing she’s doing, but given her past battle with eating disorders, it caught my attention.

I’m sure the trillion dollars she earned from past seasons of AI are helping to ease the loss. I can’t feel too sorry for her in this economy.

@BeRealPlease — Um, to be fair … Paula didn’t make “trillions” of dollars on AI. In fact, she tried to get her pay raised like everyone else on the show (or, at least like Simon and Ryan got) and they ended up choosing Ellen over her. Paula will be fine but not because of these supposed “trillions” you think she made on the show.

No offense to Paula I think she’s a talent and will be missed.
That said though, she did earn between $5-8 million a year from American Idol and has been on since 2000. It was her decision to reject an eight-figure deal that represented a 30 percent raise. If she got axed I might sympathize but she made her decision and seems cool with it.

Apparently that “spirit stick” was a microphone for part of the VH1 Divas show last night.
That was the part after she almost fell of the catwalk portion of the stage twice while dancing and before the 30th reference to her no longer being on American Idol.
