Nine Inch Nails ‘Wave Goodbye’ To The Wiltern Theater, LA

The final NIN concert ever
September 12th, 2009

On Thursday night, Nine Inch Nails performed their last ever concert at The Wiltern Theater here in Los Angeles, CA in front of a sold out house of family, friends, fans on the last night of the Wave Goodbye Tour. I had the extreme fortune to interview Trent Reznor (which you can watch in full HERE) before Thursday’s final NIN show and then it was time to get down to business …

After the jump, check out a few of the photos that I snapped from the show, see the show’s full setlist and watch video of NIN performing The Day the World Went Away for the last time — ever …

The whole show was NIN’s 830th show, was over 3 1/2 hours long and, I understand, was the longest set that Nine Inch Nails ever performed. There were a lot of emotional people in the audience, I saw many tears but overall pretty much everyone in the the place was having the time of their lives. In my interview with Trent Reznor, he did clarify that Nine Inch Nails is over … but he is deffo planning to create new music and even mentioned the possibility of staring a new band. I can’t even express how exciting that sounds! I have every confidence that we’ll be hearing amazing new music from TR again. Here is video of TR giving his final thanks to the crowd, the band, his crew and the band’s final performance of The Day the World Went Away:

To be honest, I haven’t fully processed the last show yet … I did my best to just take it all in … savor the moment and try to burn memories into my mind. My head was still swimming from having interviewed Trent Reznor so … it was a heady night for me. I have many great memories of all 28 NIN shows I’ve seen over the years … those shows make up some of the best times of my life. I’m very excited for what’s to come from Trent Reznor … but for now, I am just so happy that he is finally able to settle down for a bit and start living a life.

To TR and all the various members of Nine Inch Nails over the years … Thank YOU so much for everything. Here’s hoping the best is yet to come.

Maybe, someday not too far away NIN will pull a Cher or Barbara and have a couple farewell tours….(a girl can hope) (I can’t believe I put Cher and nasty Streisand in the same sentence as Trent Reznor!)

I was there and I say that with pride. Someday I will be able to share the story of witnessing the final NIN concert, with the nieces and nephews or random young-ins. It was amazing! A stand out performance among the other NIN concerts I’ve see over the last few years. I will be sad to see NIN go, even got a bit misty toward the end of the concert thinking that this will be my final NIN concert (unless TR changes his mind), but I’m looking forward to seeing what TR has in store for us.
Oh, and on a side note, Trent I love you and hate you that you got to not only take amazing photos at this concert but once again you were able to interview TR. If you get the opportunity to interview him again I will drive up from San Diego, at a moments notice, and serve as the official “water-bottle-holder” or whatever you would need just so you would let me stand in the room.
Fan girl moment over, I must go dry my eyes.

Thank you for that vid! I was there, and that speech, and Trent stopping twice to thank people and then one of my fav NIN songs Blew ME AWAY! Thanks again for all your NIN posts. I hope we see TR again soon, in some new capacity!
