Neve Campbell Signs On To Appear In ‘Scream 4’
Earlier this year we learned that plans were in the works to produce the much anticipated, much-delayed sequel film Scream 4 and in July we learned that husband and wife couple (who met on the set of the Scream movie franchise) Courteney Cox and David Arquette officially signed on to reprise their roles (as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley) in Scream 4. At the time, Scream star Neve Campbell (Sydney Prescott) proclaimed that she would NOT reprise her role … but plans for the sequel moved ahead anyways. Today we learn the great news that Neve has FINALLY agreed to sign on for Scream 4!! Writer/director Kevin Williamson broke the news on his official Twitter profile and then an article from Variety expounded on the news. Here is the full text of Williamson’s Twitter announcement and excerpts from the Variety article:

From Twitter: Yes on Neve guys! Read Variety! Whew! All I can say is “Whew”
From Variety: Promising that “I’m going back to doing what I do best,” Bob Weinstein has unveiled several films to be released by Dimension over the next year, many in 3-D. “Scream IV” will start production in April or May as the first of a new trilogy and the company is talking to Wes Craven to direct, Weinstein reports. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette will star … The first three “Scream” pictures registered grosses of roughly $100 million a piece in the U.S.
This is great news. Unlike other sequel films, I feel that all of the Scream sequels are amazingly fun films each in their own right. Scream 2 and 3 were both really fun movies … Parker Posey gives one of her funnest performances EVER in Scream 3. I have no doubt that Scream 4 will be just as good. I just knew Neve would come back for the new film … they were gonna make it with or without her so why not come back, make everyone happy and make a lot of money. The Scream franchise is one of my faves ever and now we have another trilogy to look forward to. Woot!! I can’t wait to get back to Woodsboro, CA again!

I did a mini-happy dance here at work after reading that. I’ve always loved Neve, and now I’m happy to hear she’ll be a part of Scream 4! I just hope the movie doesn’t disappoint.

This is great news. The Scream movies are horror classics, and there was no way they could make a 4th film without Sidney.

Does anyone know if they are making this film a 3D.. I am scared if they do.. I mean i love 3D but sometimes i feel like the plot/story gets lost in it bc of it..
Loved the first 3 films.. the 2nd is my favourite.. Loved SMG’s murder.. Best scene of all three I think!

Hope Neve doesn’t turn out to be the big bloodbath at the beginning of the movie! I was so upset to see Liev (“Cotton”) bite it at the beginning of “Scream 3!”

Can’t wait! I liked the second movie a little more than the first. I’ll watch the third mainly to see Parker Posey own every scene she’s in! LOVES her! “My…lawyer…liked…that!”

Scream 2 was the best in my opinion simply because Sarah Michelle Gellar was in it and she was the only decent person with common sense to at least give up a good fight. : )

@CHASE – Totally Agree.. I miss those times when these slasher flicks were good cause they had SMG, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr..Neve Campbell.. *sigh*

thats awesome. I LOVE the scream movies. Am a little concerned because it was a perfect trilogy, but with the 3 main actors on board, I am sure they will come up with something great. Excited!

I’m still middle of the road on this. I’m a HUGE fan of Scream… seriously you cannot beat the original. The 2 sequels were very entertaining but IMHO the original was by far the best. It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen anything from the franchise I have to wonder if Kevin Williamson can still pack the punch he did for the first 3 and what he’s going to write. I thought the 3rfd movie pretty much wrapped everything up. I sincerely hope they don’t try to make this like Halloween… because while the original and first few sequels were awesome, I think we all wanted to see Jamie Lee Curtis bite it by the time we hit number 8…
However I am happy that the 3 principal stars are returning… maybe I’ll have to check it out after all.

@ Trent – I have to agree on it being more on the boring side. And a little confusing, like they were determined to throw the ultimate curve at us or something. The original is absolutely the best. It has all the best lines and honestly the only set of serial killers I didn’t actually want to see die!

More scary, less “fun” please. The original still gets me … just the right balance of creepyness and humour.

Loved the originals, i really dont know how i feel about a 4th. I just hope it doesnt suck
