OMG, “Stella Luna”!!! There’s a famous book about a baby fruit bat who’s named STELLALUNA!!!!
didn’t see the post above me :) oh well, glad to know i’m not the only one who remembers it.
LMAO at the Stella Luna comment, Trent!
I believe Suzanne Somers it right – the chemo is as much to blame, if not more than the cancer itself. My dad died of cancer 5 years ago and started with natural treatments and felt better than ever until he was basically scared into chemo, then he got incredibly sick and died shortly after. Chemo can be a death sentence on it’s own.

What is up w/ these weirdo celeb names? I’m glad SMG & FPJ named their baby a normal name.
And I looooooove Ashley Greene’s hair on the cover of that mag. So cute! I adore her!
@Lola- I’m sorry for your loss, and I agree. I do not comment to undermine the medical profession, but I think people should be aware of the alternatives to healing that are available today. Chemo isn’t the only option for treating cancer, and I watched it destroy my friend’s body. Its hard to say, with such a complex disease, but I think Suzanne Somers was just speaking from her own experience.
I LOVE that book, I have a tattoo of Stellaluna. Makes a bit of a funny name though, considering the book is so popular.
@MeG Thanks. I totally agree with you, I think Suzanne Somers was speaking from her experience and I have known people who have survived cancer via chemo – but I know more who have died and really suffered from it. The medical profession is definitely needed but it’s exactly like you said, people should be aware that there are natural alternatives that are available and can work too.
On the chemo thing. I think a lot of it depends on the person and their situation. If you are pretty much on your death bed already, then chemo will probably be the last straw. But if you are someone like my mother who had pretty advanced breast cancer, but are otherwise really healthy than it is a savior. There is no doubt in my mind that my mother wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for chemo. We should continue to strive for a better way to cure the disease that doesn’t result in so much pain, suffering and death, but for now it does help a lot of people. The unfortunate truth is that Patrick had pancreatic cancer which is extremely hard to detect until it has pretty much taken over. I am pretty sure it has the highest mortality rate (it’s either pancreatic or prostate). He was given a few months and fought for a few years.
Where did ethics in journalism go? I know not all reporters are idiots, but that person who “obtained a statement” without identifiying him/herself is a snark. I thought you had to notify a person that their comment is on the record before you can use it? Not making a comment on the remark itself, but on how it was obtained.
I’m glad you have integrity Trent :) keep it up yo!
Congrats, Trent!
Congrats on being in the LA Times :)
Congrats Trent:)
Ugh, that story about Mackenzie Phillips and her father makes me sick to the stomach.
It’s still dusty down here today. Never seen anything like it in my almost 50 years. Quite surreal and a little eerie.
..and congrats on making the LA Times!
It’s hard to treat cancer as one primary disease since there’s 200 versions of it. My grandpa died because of chemo and it made him extremely weak. His doctor told my grandma that my grandpa was a dead man as soon as he walked in the hospital door. Of course, the doctor said this AFTER he was dead. It benefits some people and some it doesn’t. Sometimes it’s better to go natural than anything… who knows. OH, and congrats, Trent!
Way to go Trent! As of right now, I’m definitely loving Megan Fox. I love that she says what she wants to, and I thought Jennifer’s Body was great! To me, she seems like a crazy-sexy girl who has brains and guts as well. I mean, she’s really good in JB. (So is the whole cast, especially Amanda Seyfried.) Oh, and I have to say that, as for the chemo stuff, you can’t just generalize. Breast cancer and Pancreatic cancer, for example, are totally different. Very sad alttogether.
they spelt your name wrong. :/ but congratulations!
