Tracie, I am not an Avril fan, but you do have to give credit to a person who creates their own music and it becomes so extraordinarily successful. My guess is that your coffee shop performance wouldn’t convince people to fork over cash for a copy of it, much less 20 million people.

Wait, since when does writing your own songs (and I thought she only “co-wrote” them) or singing live mean you have any talent? I could write a song write now and perform it live at some open mic night in a coffee shop, and it would not be a pretty sight. I don’t care if she writes every note and lyric herself, plays all of her instruments, and sings every song at every show live. That doesn’t automatically make someone talented and worthy of respect.
