First Look: Mariah Carey, ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’
Second single from 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel'

Mariah Carey has released the official artwork for her new single I Want To Know What Love Is, which is her take on the Foreigner track and is the second single from her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel … behold:

MariahCarey.com wanted to be the first to share with the fans the brand new cover art for Mariah’s version of the Foreigner classic power ballad “I Want To Know What Love Is” from her upcoming album Memoirs of an imperfect Angel in-stores on Tuesday, September 29th!

HMMM. The artwork is nice and all … nothing too exciting, a lot of words with big letters. The song itself has made its way to the Internets and can be heard in full HERE (until it gets taken down, of course). It’s an interesting cover … but, in all honesty, I vastly prefer the original version of this song.

looks the perfume ad. and the red carpet photos. and the candid photos. and pretty much all her photos. i think its tyme she calls tyra, cuz mimi is just not lookn to fierce anymore.

  3. Krissy says:

Has anyone seen the pictures of her rocking what is being called the “vision of love hair” with Nick at dinner last night? She brought back her curls! For some bizzare reason, I find her much more “like-able” with curls.

You know, I was recently watching old Mariah performances on YouTube and in all honesty, I prefer old Mariah any day. Her songs actually meant something back in the day and not to mention her voice was quite amazing back then as well. I know her voice has probably had a lot of strain over the years but all of her new work is kind of disappointing. I think she should go back to her old roots. Literally. : ( And is just me or does her voice sound really raspy on this track? She doesn’t smoke or any drugs as far as I’m aware of. Hmmm…

  5. Bren says:

OH NO SHE DIDN’T! Way to eff up a class, you silly cow.

  6. jessicagiovanna says:

why doesn’t she ever talk about how her father is hispanic.. i understand he was an ass, but you are who you are bb

  7. Sara says:

Yeah… I’m not really feeling this. Her voice sounds weird… probably too much manipulation on the sound boards. I know girlfriend can sing… but she kind of annoys me lately.

  8. MB says:

Sara, that is a horrible youtube recording, that’s not the actual High quality of the song. Rest assured, she sounds amazing on the clear version.

  9. Angie says:

Uhhhhhh … can we get a “HELLLLLLLLS to the f’ing NO!”

No one can remake this one… NO ONE.

  10. Erin says:

    @jessicagiovanna
Why does it matter that her father is hispanic?

  11. Mike says:

this isn’t the real version, this version has been sped up for some reason…the actual version sounds much better :)

  12. jessicagiovanna says:

It doesn’t matter, she just never talks about it as though she’s ashamed. But nick called her a black woman on his blog. Her dad was black-venezolano.

  13. Bill says:

Mariah can sing anything and it sounds amazing. Can’t wait for the real version of this song to come out.

  14. Phillip says:

She is desperate and pathetic. I’m amazed that she chose a photo like this and not one of those tacky numbers where she is flaunting herself. Ugh!

  15. Melissa says:

You need to be a clue Jessica. Mariah’s father was not a Hispanic and that’s why she doesn’t talk about it. Her father was a black man, looked like a black man, dark-skinned, kinky hair, the entire bit and plus he was a nationalized American citizen. My father was British but that doesn’t make me British. Mariah’s nationality is American, her culture is African American, and her race is biracial (black and white). Mariah is totally at ease with herself and comfortable with her race and culture so you need to get a clue and stop trying to force her into a box where she doesn’t belong.

  16. Belladonna says:

Wasn’t Mariah born & raised in the United States so that would make her American right? Her culture is American, actually African-American as previously mentioned. Her race is mixed with African & European and she obviously sees herself as African-American/biracial and it’s true. Nick called his wife a black woman because Mariah considers herself a black woman, though a biracial woman is probably more accurate since her mom is Irish.

I’m not going to argue w/ anyone. I am a person who is constructed from a menagerie of races. Hispanic, Native Am, European, and Asian. I don’t deny any race of mine. I am curious to how other people of mixed races express themselves. I find it curious that she never mentions Hispanic.

  18. Leslie says:

She doesn’t mention Hispanic because she isn’t Hispanic so why is that so difficult for you to accept. I am African, European and Korean. Mariah is a biracial American of African American culture.

  19. Samantha says:

Posting different websites mean nothing unless you go to her official website to get the truth. I have read a hundred different things about Mariah’s heritage and ethnicity on blogs and I don’t believe most of them. She has clearly identified herself and that is enough for me and everyone else without an ax to grind.
