It’s out!! Britney Spears‘s new single, 3, which will be included on her new album Britney Spears: The Singles Collection (due out in November) has made it’s debut on US radio for all to hear. It turns out that Brit Brit decided to release a song that champions the wonders of the ménage à trois … or threesome. The lyrics of the song are not subtle at all, behold:

3
(M.Martin/Shellback/T.Amber)
1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin’
Babe, pick a night
To come out and play
If it’s alright
What do you say?
Merrier the more
Triple fun that way
Twister on the floor
What do you say?
Are – you in
Livin’ in sin is the new thing (yeah)
Are – you in
I am countin’!
1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin’
Three is a charm
Two is not the same
I don’t see the harm
So are you game?
Lets’ make a team
Make ‘em say my name
Lovin’ the extreme
Now are you game?
Are – you in
Livin’ in sin is the new thing
Are – you in
I am countin’!
1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
What we do is innocent
Just for fun and nothin’ meant
If you don’t like the company
Let’s just do it you and me
You and me…
Or three….
Or four….
- On the floor!
HMMM … but what does it sound like? It is upbeat as I hoped, has a bit of a electro feel to it … sounds like it came from the recording sessions for her last album Circus rather than her previous recording sessions. After all, pretty much all of the unreleased demos from Blackout were leaked to the Internets and this song was not among them. After the jump, listen to 3 in full and judge the song for yourselves …
I mean, I guess it’s a pretty swell song about threesomes … if you’re into that thing. The subject matter seems a bit much, IMHO, but it’s a catchy tune … I’m sure Britney fans (which does include younger children) will be singing along to this track in no time. If the You Tube embed gets removed, you can stream 3 online HERE or HERE. So …. what do y’all think?

@tom Haha!! no doubt!! GREAT SONG!!
It’s so hot!
Not at all what I expected content wise, but that is what I love about Britney, always coming out with something a little on the edge. LOVE IT!!! This is going to be another big one for her… seriously, it’s going to take the clubs by storm and I guarentee it gets a lot of radio play. I’ve been a dj for about 6 years now and I can tell you that it’s not about what the song is about, it’s all about the catchiness and appeal of the song overall.
And for the people who hate it because she also has young fans. It’s been my experience that little kids are going to sing along to songs regardless of whether or not they know what the lyrics mean. It’s the job of the parents to either explain or not explain what their child is singing. It’s also the job of the parents to censor anything they deem inappropriate. Just because she has a wide variety of fans does not mean she should limit herself in what she wants to produce.
@Jill – she would rock this live… I saw her in concert at the end of August and she brought it big time… no matter the song, she just completely nailed it. This one will be no different, I can assure you
It’s a great song, catchy and it’s a sure hit i’m sure. Oh and about the “young fans” debacle, i don’t give a rats ass about them after Britney, Blackout and Circus it’s about time folks stop blaming Britney for kids listening to her music, she has been sexual for a very long time and parents are the ones who should monitor their kids not pop stars.
Catchy but a tad trashy.
I’m a huge Britney fan but her voice is WAY too electronic for my taste this time!
Love the tune, not so much the lyrics. This song should’ve been sang by Megan Fox instead of her as it fits her attention-whore personality. I absolutely love Britney but, IMHO, she doesn’t need any more trashy songs. I mean, at least have some subtlety! I will definitely be listening to this though, but don’t worry folks, I’m already legal ;)
@Sandrinha It would be very hard for parents to monitor their kids listening to Britney once this song starts getting played every 10 minutes at stations all over the world.
catchy but its blah like many others britneys songs… she should released a song that celebrates her 10 years in the bussines some funy song, i dont know.. but a sexual song to celebrate its not so cool
okay, I am at work at can’t listen… what word is bleeped out with “*****” in the written lyrics?
@Kim — It’s not a bleeped out word, it’s a moaning sound.
I’m disappointed in this. I’ll keep listening to Blackout for my “going out” music rather than this.
The music is catchy but the lyrics suck. Seriously, my first grader could write better lyrics than this :-/ Thank goodness her kids are too little to know what their mom is singing about or you know they’d never hear the end of it at school.
I think it’s a newly written/recorded song. Britney posted on her twitter, (not too long ago) when her tour was in Sweden, that she was in the studio with Max Martin. I’m guessing it was this track?
Not sure that I LOVE it, and I’m a huge fan of her…It’s alright though. x
C’mon!! This song is catchy and fun. If you think that this is the first sexually explicit song that Britney has done, you have not paid any attention to her for the last five years! Rap music has stuff 1000 times worse than this. Britney is almost 30. GEEZ!
ps. click on my name and read some fun posts.
JUST HAVE TO SAY! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gaaaaaaaaaaah. how ‘subtle’..lol. but i don’t really like the tune. it’s a little techno-ish. can’t for the mtv ;)
Not everyone that listens to music, listens to music in such a melodic and lyrical way. Some people like a beat of a song and it becomes their favourite song of the moment. It will work well in clubs whether you like Brit or not or like the song, cause it has that club feel.

Parents etc.. need to get over themselves. They hate on people like Brit all the time when it comes to lyrics etc.. Like a young kid is going to know what a threesome is when she doesn’t even mention the word threesome in it really. And all you gotta do is turn the radio off or deny them access to downloading the song etc…

Eh, the beat is sick, the lyrics are smart in a – provocative and attention way – so it works! Britney KNOWS how to make a great song. This is proof as well as countless other songs. I mean, notice how parents and other people who have no lives so they complain about petty shit like lyrics of a song or adverts never hate on RnB songs or HipHop songs because those people are black. I’m not being racist – but it’s as if you expect that in those songs about sex & all those topics. But when its a Pop or Dance song, its like ILLEGAL!
About her young fans: lets not act as though Britney is this new artist who no one has ever heard of- she’s Britney freaking Spears. When I saw her show I spotted a handful of younger fans (maybe 13/14 years old) and I could not believe their parents permitted them to go. Unless they were living under a rock for the past decade, there is no reason for them to object to her when we know everything about Britney. We’ve watched her become the biggest thing in the world, we watched her fall apart, and we watched her rise from the ashes and comeback. You can not tell me they didn’t know what she was about.
How about we hold parents accountable for their children? Your 12 year old does not need a computer in her room nor does she need a cell phone. Buck up and take responsibility for your children and if they dont like it tough shit. Raise your children to make good choices and stop blaming Britney for all your problems.
eh. nevermind the lyrics, not a fan. it’s all rhythm, no catchy tune. pass.
