Britney Spears Retains 50/50 Custody Of Her Children
Great news for Britney Spears today … the ruling judge overseeing her ongoing custody case for her young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, has extended the 50/50 custody ruling put in place earlier this year to last at least thru the end of 2009. After Britney’s scary melt-down in early 2008, Britney lost custody rights to her children and their father, Kevin Federline, became their primary custodial caregiver. Since Britney’s recovery, she has slowly won back visitation rights to see her sons and then earlier this year won back equal custody rights to share with K-Fed … for a price:
Britney Spears will share 50/50 custody with Kevin Federline at least through the end of the year — TMZ has learned. An L.A. County Superior Court judge extended the order that was initially put in place for Britney’s concert tour. Under the terms, Britney gets to travel with Sean Preston and Jayden James and must provide K-Fed with a place to stay if he wants to follow them on tour. Sources tell us the sealed order is very detailed, but Britney gets minimum 50/50 custody and at times even more. As for Kevin, in addition to the $20,000 a month Britney pays him in child support, he gets between $20,000 and $25,000 a month when the kids are outside of California. At the end of the year the judge will reevaluate custody. We’re told it’s looking like a 50/50 split is the way of the future.
You may recall that the order states that K-Fed has to be PAID by Britney extra money IN ADDITION to his regular child support payments. The good news is that the order has been extended and Britney will get just as much time with her sons as K-Fed does, the bad news is that she’ll be shelling out LOTS of money to her slimy, overfed ex-husband for the right to see her children. It’s a gross situation but I commend Britney for doing what she has to do to be with her children. A 50/50 split is the best either parent can hope for so this is great news for our dear Britney. She has come a very long way since her breakdown … I think her success with her children has been her greatest accomplishment.

I am VERY pleased that she is doing so much better with her kids! I feel her pain, as I also have a slimy ex. Kudos to Brit for getting her life back and being a rockin hawt momma to those adorable monsters!

Trent I have to say that while everyone else seemed to be relishing her overall meltdown you were always demonstrating concern for Brit and as someone who was starting to find defending Britney to be a full-time job, I fully applaud your continued coverage of the good in her life as she continues to make her way back to the girl we all fell in love with in the first place. Kevin has a job now (Celebrity Fit Club) She shouldnt have to pay him anything! Hopefully the judgement at the end of the year will stop making Britney have to pay him…Then maybe he will lose some weight if he doesnt have any money to eat.

It doesn’t sound like Britney and is most likely a demo if it has any relation to Britney (ie: being offered to her etc… & therefore sung by someone else) but it is a very interesting song indeed. Its worth a good listen.

I really do not get all the hate for K-Fed. He really stepped up when the kids needed him. He seems to be a good dad. He could have gone after Britney way harder when she was at her lowest and he didn’t . Now that she seems to have settled down the shared custody is the right thing for the kids.

@Maria — I don’t think he should get extra credit for being a parent when the other parent is incapacitated. He should be a good parent regardless. A good parent doesn’t milk the richer other parent for as much money as possible just so he can “care” for his children (while touring the world WITH his girlfriend) … and only the famous children … what about his other children? K-Fed is a scuzz in my opinion.

Whatever him being a greedy douche has done nothing but help her get more custody of the kids and it’ll help her when she fills for 50/50 custody when the cons. ends. To be honest I don’t really get why ppl get worked up over 45k a month cause frankly that’s 1. temporary its goes back to only 20k at the end of her tour and 2. pocket change to Britney Spears she makes over a million dollars in 90 mins when you really think about it the douche bag “should” be getting more of her money score 1 for her lawyers.

I just don’t understand. If it’s child support how can her lawyers not force him to produce receipts that all that money is going solely to the care of the children. When my friend got divorced from her husband his attorneys made sure that the child support was only used for the children. The only thing she could use it for personally was for rent, and for car payments as both are needed to take care of the kids, and his lawyers forced her to produce receipts for the money spent every month. She has sole custody because he didn’t even want the children, but she has to put up with a huge pile of shit for the $1000 per month he gives her. I can’t believe Britney’s attorneys haven’t managed to make that bastard work for that money, because we can clearly see he doesn’t spend the money on the kids.
I see Britney with the kids all the time but never KFat, and I NEVER see him with his other children, how is he not an unfit parent?
Plus how is it possible that it takes $20K – $45K per month to take care of toddlers half the time?

He gets paid more if she takes them on tour, which does make sense. California divorce law can be a crazy thing, but there is NO REASON he should get fewer rights than women in this situation, just because he is a man. The law was set up to “protect” the pampered wives of the very rich…and now it is being used to protect the pampered husband of a rich woman. I don’t see how this situation is any less distasteful than the millions of other CA divorces where the rich parent has to pay out the wazoo to the other parent who doesn’t work. If it is good for the Sugar Daddy, it is good for the Sugar Mama. When you chose to marry someone very quickly and then procreate with them, this is what you open yourself up to.

As much as I hate this situation, it’s fair. I mean, if Britney is willing to pay the money for her kids (which she obviously is) then there’s no problem. I really hate the fact he gets paid so much and doesn’t care about his other kids, though. It’s not really fair in some ways. I just feel bad for Britney because she has to do everything and she’s basically just a cash cow for her ex-husband, her family, team, and JIVE whom milk her out of everyone for cash. It’s quite sad.

I don’t care how much K-fed get’s and I hope Brit doesn’t either…… I would give my ex everything I owned if it meant seeing my kids….. however now that the custody is 50/50 it’s starting to seem like Brit has to pay K-fed moolah so she can spend time with her kids.

Trent, I think you’re being awfully kind to Ms. Britney. I’m so glad to see that she’s doing well, but truthfully, Kevin was there to take care of his kids when she jumped off the deep end. She put her kids in danger with her erratic behavior and even the Spears family has said that Kevin was a good father when Britney was emotionally unavailable to them. I trust the judge’s decision on this because Britney has come along way, but it’s going to take more than a few months of good behavior to erase the years of reckless behavior.

What sucks the most is, that when Brit does gain permanent 50/50 custody and not touring etc… she still has to pay his fat ass child support. I mean its 50/50 it shouldnt be like that. I dont exactly know what the rules are here in Aussie myself, but i sure as hell know it aint like THAT i dont think like it is in the US.

Fair enuf Brit is the money earner out of the two, but he should really be made by the court to work or find an income. I mean Brit shouldn’t be made to be paying for his living really. I just really want the day where Britney gains more custody than him. It may take a while, a year or two, but i can tell that day will come and then she won’t need to pay to feed his fat mouth no more.

@j i belive the courts determine child support based on ones income and that is why he gets that amount.
