BritneySpears.com has just been updated with the news that our dear Britney will be releasing her first Singles Collection (which, apparently, is different from a greatest hits collection … which she has previously released) in November. This Singles Collection will feature 17 singles in both a deluxe version and a standard version. The collection will also feature a new song titled 3 which will hit radio stations on September 29. Here is the full text of the press release announcement:

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of her debut on the music scene, Jive Records is releasing Britney Spears The Singles Collection on November 24. To launch the special package a brand new single entitled “3,” which Britney recently recorded with hitmaker Max Martin, will go to radio Tuesday, September 29. There will be two configurations of The Singles Collection; an ultimate fan box set and a standard version. The ultimate fan box set version of The Singles Collection will contain all 29 of her singles, including the new song “3.” Each disc will be packaged in its own slip sleeve case with original artwork, and will include an additional b-side or a remix of the track. The collection will include a DVD featuring all of Britney’s videos in chronological order. The ultimate fan box set will also include a special booklet featuring iconic images and fun facts about each track. The standard version of The Singles Collection will contain 17 of her chart topping favorites along with the new song “3,” all on one CD.
Um, yay? As I mentioned above … I’m not sure what makes Britney Spears: The Singles Collection any different than Greatest Hits: My Prerogative (except for the new singles that have been released since her greatest hits collection was released in 2004) but … it’s comin’! I’m most intrigued by this new single, written by Max Martin. Martin is responsible for writing some of Britney‘s biggest hit songs … I can’t wait to hear what 3 sounds like. But another collection of already released songs? Yeah … I’m not so sure. What do y’all think … will YOU be ponying up for this new collection of old songs?

Well calling it a “singles” collection lets them throw in anything shes released as a single, regardless of how its faired on the charts. Whereas I’d expect greatest hits to be whats reached the top 10. I haven’t taken the time to compare track listings though, but thats just my guess based on the semantics here.
It sounds like the box set No Doubt released a few years back. Sounds cool, even though it’s a rehashing of old Britney material. But who am I kidding? I will definitely be buying this.
i think its too soon for a singles collection. but i guess whatever works.
You’re on latimes.com- http://www.latimes.com/enterta.....1354.story:
“She oozes sex and isn’t ashamed to do so,” said Trent Venegas, author of http://www.pinkisthenewblog.com. “She seems very willing to use her sexuality to her maximum benefit without giving too much away. She definitely became a Hollywood it girl because of her looks rather than her talents.”
Fans will buy, for sure. I like first commenter’s definition of a singles collection.

YAY! so excited! it will be awesome.
It’s just something cool for her fans, and its a great holiday gift. Plus for those who dont necessarily buy her albums but enjoy her songs on radio, its a good purchase.
YAYYYYY!!!! I know I’ve probably heard every song that will be on the CD a million times, but I’m too big of a Brit Brit fan not to buy this. And I’m excited for the new single!!! Haha I’m trying to find a leak, but no luck. Damn! lol
Like the press release said its gonna contain ALL of her singles. Greatest hits only had her most popular songs.
Jpop artists do this alot, Ayumi Hamasaki just did it on her 10th anniversary (random lil piece of info lol)
I’ll definitely be buying this. I’m such a sucker
I don’t think I’ll be buying this… I mean, if I wanted this all I would have to do is buy the single “3″ off of iTUNES and then get all of my Britney CD’s and comprise them onto iTUNES and make my own ‘Single Collection’ of Britney following the same track list. Not smart. I think this would have been way more cooler if it was the remixed tracks on tour and if she re-recorded some of her hits as well like ‘Baby One More Time’ and all that stuff and maybe some acoustic versions as well. Oh well!
It’s her 10 years anniversary! The deluxe box set will feature 29 singles (each in their own slip sleeve case) plus a DVD with all the videos plus a book with exclusive pictures and fun facts about each song.
AAA! I’m so getting it (and I own all her CDs including GHMP).
That’s a gorgeous picture of Britney!
@Kendra yea great pic, but hopefully it ain’t the “singles” cover! Oh Britney give us something better!!! Not old photos from last year…xoxo
I wish she would release the music video DVD by itself…I already have all the songs I dont need the box set…I just want the DVD!
I am too much of a Britney fan to NOT have this. The deluxe edition sounds so cool! I can’t wait to own this! And it marks her 10 year anniversary in the industry and I think that’s pretty much why they are doing it. It’s a cool idea for her big fans.
Its celebrating her 10 Year Anniversary.

I think it’s a good idea. I just hope she/they promote it a little. The UK usually go nuts over Greatest Hit CD’s so they should love it. But at least do a little promo of “3″ when it gets released & stuff. Perform it on her Tour in Australia and maybe Las Vegas if it’s released before then.

I think in order for it to be more appealing, she should re-record Baby One More Time (keep the original aswell though) as it was reported earlier this year that she was doing so. That would be awesome.. “Baby One More Time…in 2009″ and also maybe re-record or remix the big single off each album… BOMT, Oops I Did it Again, Slave 4 U, Me Against the Music or Toxic, Gimme More or Piece of Me & Circus or Womanizer.

The Boxset is probably the best choice. All singles & songs, video clips aswell. I reckon they will incorporate the circus tour a bit perhaps? But that will also get released on DVD separately too.
Yes. too soon.
i read on breatheheavy.com that she re-recorded the songs that’ll be on this collection cd, kinda like how xtina did on a couple of her songs for her greatest hits 2 years ago. the difference is britbrit supposedly re-recorded each of the 17 or so tracks. they shouldve mentioned that on their ad if it’s true.
I love this picture of Britney, but is it just me or does she kind of look like Debbie Gibson? Weird.
