Bravo TV’s ‘Real Housewives’ Join Andy Cohen On The Cover Of ‘The Advocate’
“I couldn’t be gayer!” - Andy Cohen

A Real Housewife of New York City, New Jersey and Atlanta each is featured on the cover of the new issue of The Advocate magazine along with Bravo TV programming honcho Andy Cohen. Cohen speaks openly and frankly with the mag about being an out and proud man in the TV biz, lookin’ very much like the gay Ward Cleaver alongside his Housewives:

“I couldn’t be gayer.” As Andy Cohen makes this proclamation, he couldn’t be prouder. It’s 9:30 a.m., and the Bravo executive is in a seersucker suit, seated in a Sirius XM Radio studio in midtown Manhattan. He’s a guest on The Gayle King Show and has been asked to sound off on Whitney Houston’s highly anticipated comeback, a topic he’s thrilled to discuss. From Madonna to Sandra Bernhard to the ubiquitous Real Housewives his network is churning out, Cohen loves his divas. Tieless, the top two buttons of his lavender shirt left open, his hands circling through the air, he is on. His excitement about Whit’s new album is not unlike that of a 15-year-old girl gushing over the Jonas Brothers at her cafeteria lunch table. Then, as if they were tasked with proving Cohen’s previous statement, he and King start to sing along to Houston’s new single, “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength.” Cohen sways in his chair, snaps his fingers, and swings his head back and forth in front of the mike. Watching the silver-haired, impeccably tan, 41-year-old former CBS News producer surrender to his inner pop tart, you’d have to agree — this man couldn’t be gayer.

Ugh .. that’s about all of Cohen‘s interview that I could stomach, if you are interested … you can read the rest of it HERE. While I generally love Andy Cohen (something about his crossed/wonky eye is kinda cute), I find that he tends to really irritate me when exposed to him for long periods of time. His late-night talk show Watch What Happens is kinda painful to watch, mainly because he tends to bug. That being said, the man is a reality TV genius … he consistently comes up with really fun programming that I just can get enough of (The Real Housewives, Top Chef, Tabitha’s Salon Make-over, Project Runway). True, some of Bravo‘s reality programming sucks balls (Miami Social, Millionaire Match-Maker, The Rachel Zoe Project) but overall, Bravo has become THE home of fun and entertaining reality TV. While I feel that Andy‘s fame may be going to his head just a touch, I hope he continues to bring the entertainment … if he starts believing they hype that he’s the star, he may lose his eye for finding great new TV programming. Methinks Mr. Cohen should stay behind the scenes where he’s been more successful rather than in the spotlight where he is decidedly much less of a success.

I don’t know much about the man. I did see his show one time where he had Barney Frank on via phone. It was very hard to watch. I’m not a big Barney Frank fan but I really felt sorry for him being put through that. They also had the Atlanta housewife on who is asian/black and her husband. Her husband looked like he was going to crawl under a rock and die.

I’m sooo with you Trent. I love Andy Cohen – in small doses. That show he does Thurs night is a trainwreck. But…. I can’t stop myself from watching any of the Real Housewives shows, or Top Chef etc. He’s a genius who should stay behind the scenes – or just do the reunion specials.

NeNe is an evil, vindictive creature. She picks on Kim all the time. She’s always right, and everyone else is wrong. She picked on the wrong person with “Kandi”. NeNE needs to lose at least 50 pounds.

    With Love.

  8. Eileen says:

NeNe is a very uncontrollable person. It’s either her way or no way. SHAME on NeNe. NeNe needs a good ass whooping. NeNe picks on weak people like Kim, who I think is addorable. When NeNe started with Kandi NeNe was out of her mind. She is always yelling. I guess if you yell loudest and are obnoxious you have control. How good can this boook be when she has a ghost writer.
Lisa is out of control this season. Wheat really happened to Sheree’s really big indepedent party. $$$$$. Kim is adorable. I hope she keeps singing and NeNe gains more weight!!! Tyson you are gorgous
