Family and close friends of Adam DJ AM Goldstein, who was found dead in his NYC apartment last Friday, gathered together at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary here in Los Angeles, CA to pay their respects one last time to the late DJ. After a quiet service, Goldstein was buried and laid to eternal rest:
DJ AM was laid to rest in a private ceremony Wednesday (September 2) in Los Angeles … Guests, including AM’s girlfriend Hayley Wood and friend/ collaborator Travis Barker, former fiancee Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden, gathered at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles at around 3 p.m. local time for the funeral service, according to the report. AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) was found by police in his New York apartment on Friday, dead from an apparent drug overdose, although initial autopsy results were inconclusive. The service took place in the mortuary and moved outside at approximately 4 p.m., according to the report. Barker — who had been on tour with Blink-182 but postponed three shows in the wake of AM’s death — reportedly paid his respects and threw dirt on the coffin. He and Wood reportedly hugged at one point, and walked side by side with AM’s family and friends. AM will also be remembered by family and friends in a private memorial service scheduled for Thursday at the Hollywood Palladium, the same venue where he performed with Jay-Z in October of last year, a month after he and Travis Barker survived a fiery plane crash in South Carolina. The Palladium memorial is being described as “a gathering to celebrate the life of our friend Adam Goldstein,” and will reportedly pay tribute to his struggle with addiction, with a format that will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting.
And with that … DJ AM rests in eternal slumber. It seems like everything happened so quickly … we only just learned that Goldstein had passed away and now he’s already been laid to rest … gone in an instant, it seems. I hope that the memorial planned in his memory tonight at the Hollywood Palladium will honor him well … his death is such a tragedy. Rest well, Adam … you will be missed.

If he were as famous as they try and make him out to be, where was all the celebrity out pouring at his funeral. And just by the quick nature of the funeral , proves he wasn’t as big a celebrity as some would make him out to be. Take away a fling with Nicole Richie, and a plane crash, and no one would have known this dude from anyone..
It sucks he died.. but i am sick to death of media over covering god damnded funerals…
my thoughts go out to his friends and family, but i have no sympathy. he survived a plane crash and was one of two survivors. i would think an experience like that would be an eye opener, even to someone that was addicted to drugs. he f*cked it up and threw away this gift of life he was given by OD-ing on drugs… it’s just a damn shame.

If I do recall it wasn’t a “fling” with Nicole Richie, and I knew who he was before Nicole. So I’m thinking there might be more people than me who knew who he was. I personally am very sad, I loved nearly everything he mixed, and this work with Travis Barker (Fix Your Face Vol 1&2) was amazing. Adam was an amazing DJ, and I’m sure he was a good person. People fall into traps, I know from experience because my brother is an addict. It doesn’t mean he’s not a good person and that I wouldn’t be completely pissed off if he died and someone tried telling me he didn’t deserve to be mourned. Honestly though, who gives a crap if celebrities went to his funeral. It’s not about that at all. Just because Brad Pitt didn’t show up, doesn’t mean people didn’t care about it. It’s really NOT all about who you know, it’s about who you are.
Ugh, Believe and c-word, he was clean for about a decade and likely got hooked on drugs again after the crash because of the painkillers he needed to take to heal.
It’s also an illness. There is an addiction gene. He didn’t throw anything away, he had a relapse of an illness he thought he had beaten.

i understand about the addiction and everything, but if it were really such an issue and if he had been clean for so long, don’t you think that he may have recognized the possibility of having a relapse and try to prevent it? i do not mean to be cold, but once again – the dude survives a freakin plane crash, but ends up going out by taking one too many of his painkillers a year later. you know what you are doing when the recommended amount is one or two pills every ‘x’ hours. i’ve been guilty of it as well, but at the same time, there is that little voice in my head that says ‘maybe you shouldn’t be doing this.’ that’s all. i mean no offense to anyone… i’m just stating my opinion.
Sorry I agree with c-word! Survive a plane crash but can’t read the directions on a bottle of pain killers.. F**** that everyone has there demons and I do feel sorry for his friend and family and I do respect them but I do not respect the hollywood stereo type high paid I have nothing better to do but I am good at what I do for a living drug addict..Sorry to those who don’t agree but that’s my opinion! Oh and I have been reading Trent for many many years Perez has nothing on him!
maybe he just needed to be loved and when his girlfriend broke up with him, the thought of being alone again was too much. Lapse in judgement, we’ve all had those “I’m just done and all I want to do is sleep forever” moments. He was an addict, yes; but he was clean for so many years. Being around the drugs with that intervention-type show, having Oxy-c prescribed to him and a broken heart.
Step back for a moment: He was in his mid-to-late 30s, single once again and a survivor of a horrific plane crash. One that took the life of someone that had what he probably wanted: a wife and family. Just give the man a break and not bash his memory because for one desperate night he felt so strongly that he didn’t deserve to be on this earth anymore.
Well, C-word and Believe, your opinions are WRONG. Science has proven you both wrong, wrong, wrong. It’s not even a matter of morals, or compassion, it’s SCIENCE. Maybe the two of you should actually study addiction before making such stupid comments.
If it’s anyone’s fault it is his doctor(s). They should have monitored his medications and made sure he knew the risks.
tracie, i did not know that there was such a thing as a WRONG opinion. isn’t that why it’s called an ‘opinion’?? not saying that is it a FACT, but a thought. you are correct, though – his doctor(s) should have monitored his medications. he took the risk, and with that he took his own life. accidents happen. and i know about addictions… i understand relapses and whatnot, but once again, you know what you are doing when you pop four or six pills… even after hittin the crack pipe. just sayin. my respects do go out to his friends and family. rip dj am.
