A Final Farewell To Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein
Family and friends say goodbye

Family and close friends of Adam DJ AM Goldstein, who was found dead in his NYC apartment last Friday, gathered together at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary here in Los Angeles, CA to pay their respects one last time to the late DJ. After a quiet service, Goldstein was buried and laid to eternal rest:

DJ AM was laid to rest in a private ceremony Wednesday (September 2) in Los Angeles … Guests, including AM’s girlfriend Hayley Wood and friend/ collaborator Travis Barker, former fiancee Nicole Richie and Good Charlotte’s Joel and Benji Madden, gathered at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in Los Angeles at around 3 p.m. local time for the funeral service, according to the report. AM (real name: Adam Goldstein) was found by police in his New York apartment on Friday, dead from an apparent drug overdose, although initial autopsy results were inconclusive. The service took place in the mortuary and moved outside at approximately 4 p.m., according to the report. Barker — who had been on tour with Blink-182 but postponed three shows in the wake of AM’s death — reportedly paid his respects and threw dirt on the coffin. He and Wood reportedly hugged at one point, and walked side by side with AM’s family and friends. AM will also be remembered by family and friends in a private memorial service scheduled for Thursday at the Hollywood Palladium, the same venue where he performed with Jay-Z in October of last year, a month after he and Travis Barker survived a fiery plane crash in South Carolina. The Palladium memorial is being described as “a gathering to celebrate the life of our friend Adam Goldstein,” and will reportedly pay tribute to his struggle with addiction, with a format that will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting.

And with that … DJ AM rests in eternal slumber. It seems like everything happened so quickly … we only just learned that Goldstein had passed away and now he’s already been laid to rest … gone in an instant, it seems. I hope that the memorial planned in his memory tonight at the Hollywood Palladium will honor him well … his death is such a tragedy. Rest well, Adam … you will be missed.

  2. jamie says:

IT’S KIND OF SICK THAT THE PAPPS WERE THERE!! LET THEM BE!

THAT’S ONE THING THATS GOOD WITH PEREZ HE REFUSES TO TO POST PICS LIKE THIS

  3. jessica says:

IF I remember correctly, he was Jewish…. which means that someone traditionally stays with the body once found until they are put to rest which is to happen as soon as possible… might explain why he was buried so quickly.

  4. jamie says:

ps/ sorry for caps am at work and to lazy to change it back

  5. I wish everyone would just get over the whole “Final Destination feel” schtick please. Someone died. It’s sad & tragic, not a Hollywood movie….

    @jessica
“they are put to rest which is to happen as soon as possible”
Thats what happens to “everyday” people. Everyone Ive know who passed away, has been buried within 4 days of passing. I,myself, find it morbid to keep a body in cold storage for too long.

  7. jessica says:

    @Kevin
that’s fair to assume Kevin. ‘m not trying to “other” anyone, since I myself am Jewish. I think it’s safe to say that many people wouldn’t consider DJ AM an “everyday” person. The average person is not regularly written about on daily blogs. I

  8. Tracy says:

I am devastated by this. Even more devastated by the fact that it looks like he killed himself. It’s just so sad.

  9. Christie says:

@ canaussiegirl….stfu already….yes it is sad and tragic but i’m pretty sure I am quite aware that it isn’t a movie….it was just an observation…geez do you really think we’re that shallow….like omg…..get it over yourself…lmao….wtf ever

  10. Chivonne says:

I feel so bad for Travis. I know there are a lot of people that are sad over this but Travis had such a connection with him I know he is taking it the hardest.

  11. @ Christie…. settle down hon! Way to attack someone for also simply making an “observation”

I don’t know what “get it over yourself” means …. I am not saying joking over the fact that someone survived a plane crash only to die months later is “shallow”. There are words I could use as to what I think of this, but really I don’t care enough to bother attacking you.

    XO

@canaussiegirl I’m w/ you. It’s a tragedy and insensitive “observations” are cruel. But sometimes people deal w/ death by attempting to be ironic because of their own mortal fears. Just let them be. Comments like theirs are meant to be ignored.

  13. Oscar in Miami Beach says:

As a jew he had to be buried ASAP since no embalming is permitted because after 3 days he’ll be stinking like a dirty a**.Rest in Pease.I heard he is DJing a party in Paradise.Anybody wants to go?.Talk to the Crimps in L.A. they will take you there.Ha,ha,ha…

  14. Believeme! says:

I don’t understand why people think it’s sooo sad that he is gone… He survived a plane crash. He had a 2nd chance at life most people do not get a 2nd chance. He was a drug addict!!! Why feel sorry for him why miss an addict??? Would he be missed if he sold your children drugs like a common dealer??? Somebody please explain it to me.. I don’t see the loss I see another addict off the streets!!!!

  15. Liza says:

Trent, most people are laid to rest rather quickly after they pass. The exceptions – Soldiers killed in Iraq (it takes time for paperwork and body shipment – morbid, I know) and Michael Jackson.

  16. Ama says:

@Believeme!-Why do you believe in judging someone but just what you see in the news? How do you know he wasn’t a good person, just because he didn’t affect your life, doesn’t mean he had no affect on anyone else. Yes, he was lucky to survive the plane crash, he may have turned to drugs because he felt guilty he did survive. He lost people important to him that day, and I’m sure he saw it everyday. You didn’t know him. Nor did I, but you can’t judge someone by what you hear.

You don’t know why he acted the way he did, he might have had a reason to turn to drugs(if that is it) Though it is a weak way out. He had been through a lot in his life, so its reasonable he would want to numb the pain he felt.

What if someone close to you loss their life to drugs, by accident or just one situation. N’ everyone talked down on them because of how they died? The point is, this man is gone. His friends, his family will always miss him because they actually knew him. You can’t judge someone from one thing. Respect the deceased. He didn’t beat people, he didn’t rape young girls or beat children. He made a bad choice in judgment. It happens.

  17. Katie says:

@believeme I’m going to go out on a limb and guess your post was meant to stir up some angry responses and bitching. Surely, there is no one that can be that ignorant and rude to state that a man who was given a second chance yet died of a drug overdose shouldn’t be mourned. Normally, I would ignore posts like yours as they are a waste of time…but I’m getting sick of these types of posts on Trents site. Go to Perez.

  18. anne says:

@Katie- “Go to Perez” omg that’s the best line i have read all day..(sorry trent)

  19. Katie says:

@Anne- Thanks :) Maybe “Go to Perez” should be the new subsitute for “Go to Hell”? Hah…catchy.

  20. Christie says:

    @ canaussiegirl…..

I must apologize to you….You see I took your 1st comment as sort of an attack….That’s one of the things I hate about texting and the sort is that you can’t feel emotions of others….. So I say to that I am sorry….
