Last May we saw a few photos of Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester filming scenes for her new movie called The Roommate which is remake of sorts of the creepy 90′s movie Single White Female which starred Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda. Today, Entertainment Weekly brings us our first look at Meester and co-star Minka Kelly in The Roommate which clearly shows that Meester is the crazy whackjob obsessed with her college roommate Kelly:

Loved 1992’s Single White Female? Then you’ll love 2010’s Leighton Meester-Minka Kelly thriller, The Roommate. Like Female, Roommate focuses on obsession: The film follows a college freshman (Meester) who develops an unhealthy fascination with her roommate (Kelly). For her role, Meester says she went method, researching mental illness with the help of psychologists and films like 1974’s A Woman Under the Influence. The actress tried to keep her distance from cast members — and a litter of kittens being used for the film — in order to retain her character’s level of emotional aloofness. “You would think that that idea of playing somebody who’s out of control or lost touch with reality is somehow fun, but it was to a point of discomfort,” the actress says. “[My character] is completely delusional and it’s definitely a cause of a chemical imbalance, so that wasn’t the easiest and most enjoyable thing. Even in her most normal moments, she’s genuinely a disturbed person. She had very abnormal wheels turning at all times.” But will friends let Meester play psychiatrist, now that she’s garnered knowledge about mental health? Not quite, says Meester. “I don’t think they’ll want my advice after they see this movie.”

We already know that Leighton Meester can act in TV, music videos and other miscellaneous projects so it remains to be seen if she can hold her own on the big screen. Personally, I think she can handle it. Playing a psychotic, obsessive crazy sounds like a lot of fun … methinks she’ll do well in this role. Again, we’re being given a “new” movie based on an old movie but Single White Female was so fun the first time around, I’m kinda curious to see what this updated version will look like. This is one redux I’d be willing so watch.

Altho my dear David is celebrating his birthday today, a bunch of us got together last night to get the party started early to celebrate his 26th first with a cocktail party at our friend Marissa’s and then at dinner in the West Village at a place called Bobo. David‘s NYC friends came out for the affair as did our friend Jordan from LA, our Detroit friend Oriana and David‘s sisters and aunts. We had a fabulous night of food and revelry … here are a few photos:

The food was fab, the drinks were strong … and never-ending … yes, folks, a great time was had by all. Because David will remain here in NYC for another week we’re gonna have to do his West Coast birthday party after he gets home. Last night was a lot of fun, it was great having so many friends and family members in one place … ’twas fun, ’twas fun.

David Beckham played one of his last home games with the LA Galaxy at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA last night. Altho it is being reported that Becks has already signed a new contract with Italian soccer team AC Milan (which is set to begin permanently next January), he played last night with much gusto helping his team beat Toronto FC by a score of 2-0, moving them forward towards the MLS play-offs. Here are a few pics of Becks in action in last night’s game:

David Beckham scored once and assisted on another goal to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-0 victory over Toronto FC. The Galaxy remain two points behind Houston for the Western Conference lead and are third in the MLS with 41 points. The top team in each conference and the clubs that have the next six highest point totals qualify for the playoffs. Beckham scored in the ninth minute with a left-foot strike from 17 yards. Edson Buddle clinched the win with seven minutes to play. Former Manchester United star Beckham said: ‘Tonight, I was happy with my goal and I was happy with the assist I gave to Landon and Eddie, but I think it was the overall team performance that was exceptional tonight.’ Galaxy boss Bruce Arena said: ‘David’s a real good player, there’s no question about it. He is a person with a lot of pride, besides that outstanding ability that he has. He did everything he could tonight to lead this team. I thought his performance was outstanding.’

As per usual, Becks had his cheering squad in the hiz last night rooting him and the LA Galaxy to victory:

Twilight star and part-time rocker Jackson Rathbone took time out of his bizzy Twilight schedule to perform with his band 100 Monkeys at a Vancouver, BC record store called Neptoon Records in Mount Pleasant. As you can see in the following photos, Rathbone used the opportunity to debut his sexy new porn’stache:

Now, I’m normally a fan of the porn’stache … merely for the cheek factor … but I don’t think I’m really feelin’ this look on Jackson. The bouffant hair’do has got to go … mebbe the ‘stache will look better without the up’do. I dunno … what do y’all think? Do we like the trash’stache on Mr. Rathbone?

When last we saw photos of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, he was lookin’ all slick and shizz on the SoCal set of his new movie Inception. Today we get to see a few more pics of JGL on the Inception set lookin’ all hawt again as he preps to shoot a big scene … behold:

It would appear that these photos were snapped in the early AM cuz JGL looks a little sleepy but I’m sure he’ll be up and at ‘em in no time. Makin’ movies may be a difficult task for some folks but clearly it ain’t no thang for JGL.

Chris Pine, who is know for his frequents walks in and around the greater Los Angeles, CA area, has made his way to NYC to carry on his tradition of bipedal mobility here in Manhattan. Generally, Pine doesn’t do anything other than look fine when he is out and about … and these photos are no exception … behold:

It was sunny and cool here in NYC so it makes sense that Chris would decide on a light jean jacket before stripping it off as the day warmed up. Couple his ensemble with those snazzy blue suede shoes and you’ve got yourself a looker. It’s nice to see that Chris Pine isn’t just partial to showing off his fineness in SoCal … the lucky folks here in NYC get to enjoy as well.

Birthday Lurve goes out to my sweet boo who is celebrating his birthday today. I hope all y’all will join me in sending out all our Birthday Lurve and best wishes to David who is turning, much to his chagrin, one year older today:

This fun photo of David was snapped last year when we were on holiday in Iceland for his birthday … we were resting up after a visit to Gullfoss (Golden Falls) Waterfall at the Hvítá River. This year, David wanted to spend his birthday in NYC with some of his family and many of his friends. We celebrated David’s birthday last night at dinner at Bobo here in Manhattan and I’ll share some of those pics a little later on … but, again, I hope you’ll send all your Birthday Lurve to the love of my life today!!
