Cause of death listed as lethal "injection by another"
Michael Jackson’s Death Certificate Amended, Released

After passing away on June 25 of this year, the official death certificate of Michael Jackson has finally been filed and made available to public (the certificate was originally filed in July but had to be refiled after it was amended to list cause of death). Last week the LA Coroner’s Office announced that MJ‘s death has been ruled a homicide and his death certificate sustains that finding, listing the cause of death as lethal “injection by another”:

Michael Jackson’s death certificate has been amended to reflect his cause of death as a homicide, specifying “injection by another” as the fatal injury. The designation was not a surprise — coroner’s officials said last week that they believed Jackson’s death on June 25 was a homicide. Investigators have said a mix of the powerful anesthetic propofol and another sedative killed the pop singer. The new record lists “acute propofol intoxication” as the main cause of death and “benzodiazepine effect” as another significant contributor. The public copy of Jackson’s death certificate has not been changed to reflect his permanent resting place. Jackson is scheduled to be interred on Thursday evening at Forest Lawn Glendale. The document does not mention Conrad Murray, who was Jackson’s personal physician. He told detectives that he gave the singer a series of sedatives and propofol to try to help him sleep. The coroner’s determination of homicide makes it easier for prosecutors to seek criminal charges, but does not necessarily mean a crime was committed. Authorities investigating the singer’s death have served search warrants in at least three states, California, Nevada and Texas. No criminal charges have been filed over Jackson’s death.

While no criminal charges have been filed yet, you can be sure they are coming. It seems very evident that investigators are building a case against Dr. Conrad Murray and it’s only a matter of time before those charges are made and arrests are conducted. The net is closing in, surely, on Dr. Murray. MJ will be laid to final rest tomorrow … which is long overdue, IMHO. But even after he is buried in his final resting place, MJ will not be able to rest in peace until the matter of his murder is settled.

Special Guest 'Little Star'
Lourdes Maria Joins Madonna On Stage In Israel

Madonna, who is currently on tour with her Sticky & Sweet Tour in Israel, brought a very special guest on stage with her during her performance of her song Give It 2 Me last night … Lourdes Maria, Maddy‘s first born child (who made her music video debut in Madonna‘s video for Celebration which was released yesterday), made her bespectacled guest appearance last night much to the delight of the thousands of fans in the audience:

Last night the pre-teen joined her mother on stage, on the penultimate night of her Sticky & Sweet world tour in Israel. Lourdes came on stage as Madonna sang Give It 2 Me, and is likely to appear again tonight on the final night of the tour. The youngster has already made an appearance in the first release of Madonna’s new Celebration track. It features the 51-year-old singer dressed in a sequinned mini-dress and thigh-high boots who walks provocatively up to her 22-year-old boyfriend Jesus Luz in an attempt to seduce him. Luz, posing as a topless DJ, ends up kissing the mother-of-four before the scene cuts to a troupe of breakdancers – including Lourdes.

It looks like Madonna is slowly introducing her daughter into the world of showbiz as Lourdes will also appear, dressed in Madge‘s iconic Like A Virgin wedding garb, in another version of the Celebration music video which is set for release next week. After the jump, check out Lola dressed as a “virginal” bride and watch a short clip of mother and daughter on stage last night …

LeAnn Rimes Announces Her Divorce On Her Official Website

In July we learned that married couple LeAnn Rimes and Deane Sherement were dunzo after it was widely reported that she engaged in an extra-marital affair with her co-star Eddie Cibrian earlier this year. Yesterday, LeAnn made the split official by announcing on her official website that she and hubby Dean are, in fact, divorcing:

Message from Leann to all her fans

“After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage. This decision was amicable and we remain committed and caring friends with great admiration for one another. Thank you so much for all of your continued love and support – it is deeply appreciated.”

Well ain’t that nice of her to keep her fans in the loop about this development in her personal life. I noted that LeAnn has a section devoted to PHOTOS on her official site and check it out to see what personal photos are on display of her and her ex-husband, now “committed and caring friend” Deane. It turns out that all photos that feature LeAnn and Dean have been removed from the site (save for a small thumbnail photo of the couple under the heading “Miscellaneous”) but a new photo of LeAnn and her rumored paramour Eddie Cibrian has been “Just Added”:

Considering LeAnn and Eddie went public with their relationship last week when new photos of the pair on a golfing date came to light, the switching of Deane‘s photos for Eddie‘s photos shouldn’t be too surprising. While it is sad when any marriage falls apart, I think it’s especially sad when divorce comes on the heels of such public cheating. Sheremet is much better off without his cheating wife … here’s hoping he finds true happiness one day.

Marriage equality comes to the Green Mountain State
Same-Sex Couples Begin To Marry In Vermont

After becoming the 4th State in the United States of America to legalize same-sex marriage back in April, same-sex couples began to legally marry in the great State of Vermont yesterday on the first full day that the law legalizing the practice went into effect. Bill Slimback and Bob Sullivan, a couple from New York, were the first same-sex couple to marry in Vermont at the stroke of midnight on September 1, 2009 … here are a couple photos from their joyous wedding ceremony and some deets about the first day of same-sex marriage in Vermont:

After 17 years together, Bill Slimback and Bob Sullivan couldn’t wait another minute to get married. So they didn’t. With Vermont’s new law allowing same-sex marriage only a minute old, they tied the knot in a midnight ceremony at a rustic lodge, becoming one of the first couples to legally wed under a law that took effect at midnight Monday. The start of gay weddings, which came nine years after Vermont’s first-in-the-nation civil unions law, prompted demonstrations Tuesday in Montpelier and Burlington. Five members of the anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church, based in Topeka, Kan., carried signs and sang songs but were outnumbered by counterdemonstrators preaching love and tolerance. The state’s gay marriage era dawned even before dawn Tuesday, with a pair of midnight weddings. At the Moose Meadow Lodge in Duxbury, Slimback and Sullivan tied the knot at 12:01 a.m. The two Whitehall, N.Y., men said their vows under a large wall-mounted moose head, promised their love, exchanged rings and held hands during a modest 17-minute ceremony. Moose Meadow Lodge co-owner Greg Trulson, who’s also a Justice of the Peace, presided. “It feels wonderful,” said Slimback, 38, an out-of-work Teamster who is taking Sullivan’s last name as his own. “It’s a day I’ve been long waiting for, and a day I truly honestly thought would never come.” Slimback said he and Sullivan, 41, have long wanted to cement their relationship with a wedding, but since they couldn’t legally marry in New York they chose Vermont. Vermont is one of four states that now allow same-sex couples to marry. Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa are the others. New Hampshire’s law takes effect Jan. 1, 2010. Vermont, which invented civil unions in 2000 after a same-sex couple challenged the inequality of state marriage statutes, was a mecca for gay couples who to that point had no way to officially recognize their relationships. Since then, other states have allowed gay marriage, as did Vermont, which in April became the first state to legalize gay marriage through a legislative decree and not a court case. In another midnight ceremony, Claire Williams, 34, and Cori Giroux, 27, were married in their South Burlington home, with about 20 people attending. They were wed by attorney Beth Robinson, a founder of Vermont Freedom to Marry.

First and foremost, much love and congrats to the happy couples who were married yesterday … and much love and congrats goes out to all those making their way to Vermont to make their marriage dreams come true. Marriage equality in Vermont seems extra special to me because Vermont is the first State in our country to legalize same-sex marriage by legislation … active and public work took place among the State’s lawmakers and a conscious effort to afford marriage equality to all it’s State’s citizens won out. It is a glorious day for marriage equality in our country. The US still has a very long way to go but by following the lead of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Iowa our country will truly be the Land of the Free one day. Again … love and congrats! Well done, Vermont!!!
