‘Project Runway’s Triumphant Return
The TV Guide

Lord have MERCY it is hot and humid here in NYC. I managed to get out and into SoHo late yesterday afternoon but I about suffocated from the muggy/humid air. Thank goodness the subway train I used was air-conditioned cuz I might’ve died right on the spot. Whew. I dunno how NYers make it thru the Summers here … they should spend the Summer in SoCal ;) I ended up just staying in last night to watch all the new Project Runway programming on Lifetime TV:

The Project Runway: All-Star Challenge aired at 8PM, the first ep of the new season of PR aired at 10PM and the new series Models of the Runway aired at 11PM — it was a full night of Project Runway fun! After the jump, check out some of my musings from last night’s TV so as to keep the spoilers out of sight for those of you who have yet to watch the eps …

I think the biggest relief from new season of Project Runway was how much it looked exactly like the previous eps of PR. The graphics, the music, the scene transitions — the new PR looks exactly like the old PR. The All-Star Challenge was fun but it felt a little lacking for me. Santino Rice, who I love, seemed intent on overpowering the show with his over-the-top attitude … it was not entertaining. The interaction between the designers was pretty boring as well. I was so impressed by Chris March‘s showing in last night’s competition. Altho he slept thru what looked like 60% of the show, he managed to design some pretty fantastic looks. BUT, I was kinda pissed that Korto ended up losing to Daniel V. I totally felt her collection looked much more stylish than Daniel‘s did … but, c’est la vie.

The new Project Runway, which was filmed last Summer in LA, was really fun. Sure, we need to warm up to the new designers (just like we have to every season) but overall, PR hasn’t lost it’s touch at all. Thank gods!! I don’t have any faves just yet so it’ll be fun to watch and see who will become my faves of season 6. The new series Models of the Runway is a cute little weekly bonus. It allows fans to see another side of the competition that we’ve previously not been privy to. I dunno that it’ll be as big a draw as PR is but, as I said, it’s a nice bonus. I am very relieved that Lifetime has put so much effort in making the Project Runway transition to their network as seamless as possible. I think fans will be very pleased with the results. It may still take some time to get the audience transferred over to the new network but if they continue to provide the same Project Runway goodness that we’ve come to expect, we’ll keep tuning in. It’s GREAT to have the show back on the air :)

I have a few things to do in the city this afternoon (blech, it is just as hot outside today as it was yesterday) and tonight I’m heading out to see Hair on Broadway. Happy weekend!!

Dude, billy, back off of trent’s style…this wasn’t a debate about what he wears, which is utterly faboo always! Korto’s a much better designer than daniel and santino-who irks the hell out of me, he’s way too full of himself. You should express your opinion about why you like santino’s fugly designs instead of dissing on someone’s own personal style.

On another note, I absolutely ADORE chris march and want to see more of his designs…he’s just the absolute best and so humble. LOVE HIM!!!!

I can’t find the all star challenge on line but I did see the first epi of the new season. What is up with all the crying? The guy that fell apart was really annoying I wish he just gave up and went home….

I also didn’t understand why the designers were so happy about Lindsay Lohan. Is she really still big in the USA? All she’s been doing is partying and coke, not a big star.

Ew ew ew. The All-Star Challenge was terrible! First of all, Sweet P & Chris March belonged on the bottom two, Uli & Michael deserved to move up and Korto deserved to win! I didn’t like any of the designs except for Kortos and that one dress of Daniels. Poor Korto, I would be pissed as all hell too! But as you say, C’est la vie! I am glad that the show hasn’t changed and that its still full of the best parts, ie. the fabulous Tim Gunn (and his black cold heart!), Heidi & her A’ufs and wonky challenges :) I missed this show soooo much, I’m glad its back on!
