Photos From Rihanna’s Italian ‘Vogue’ Photospread
Last Friday we got our first look at Rihanna on the cover of the new issue of Italian Vogue magazine and today we get to see her entire 12 photo spread inside the mag, courtesy of RihannaDaily.com … here is the first batch:

While I find this sort of fashion a bit silly, I have to admit that I contend that Rihanna can pull it off. Some of the pics are outright dumb (just say no to MC Hammer pants) but some of them are pretty chic. I don’t love all the pics but it’s a cool shoot … what do y’all think, do we like?

FAIL! Fail big time, bro. I don’t understand why people even try to put effort into “high fashion” clothes when no one, and I repeat no one would wear that on a daily basis. Maybe on Halloween, yes, but not in real life. Maybe that’s the point. I think anyone could pull this off because she isn’t really doing anything. She’s making some facial expressions and her body language is there but the photos are stripped away from its original color and darkened. She’s not modeling the clothes, the clothes are modeling her.

This isn’t a catalog from JCPenny. Couture fashion is supposed to be something that is more of a visual art form, not something that is meant for the masses to wear on a normal basis. It looks like a costume because that is what it is!

Thanks Krissy! You hit the nail on the head with this one. High fashion is an art, and a hobbie for many, many people. Although most wouldn’t normally wear all these pieces in one go– there are tons of people out there rocking these pieces individually. I hear Chase though, this shoot looks like it’s as much about Rhianna as it is the clothes, they’re a bit hard to see with the lighting. As a fan of beauty, art, design, and high fashion, I really appreciate this spread. It’s was made for someone like me though, not for the masses. Most wouldn’t even think of paying for an imported Italian Vogue because they don’t appreciate it’s worth. But the thing I love about fashion is that beauty is, in fact, in the eye of the beholder. Either you love it, or you hate it- and that’s OK!!

I think this photo shoot is a fail. It definitely tries way too hard to be something different, but it just feels so cliche for high fashion. I’m over it and Rihanna.

Most photo shoots for Italian Vogue look like this. And high fashion is art. It’s abit like red wine, you sort of need to grow an appreciation for it. I think she looks wonderful & is letting her individual style shine through.

She’s like a more successful Lindsay. Well Lindsay was successful but now she’s just Lindsay. Rihanna may turn out to be her, but i doubt it. Since she has the urban side too, she will always be able to have guest spots on singles and rappers to feature with her in order to stay in the game.

But yer, all this chick really is, is some fashionette, with the help of a stylist and hairdresser of corse. I can’t help but look at her and think “Toy”. I mean her record label pretty much own her and her decisions really. You have people like Britney, Xtina, Destiny’s Child & Beyonce. They all started out to be these artists who were controlled by their label, with their style & sound. Afters Brit’s first 2 albums, she finally got creative control, Xtina’s second album, well we all know that story. And DC started out so by the time Beyonce went solo her label trusted her. But Rihanna seems different. She had 3 albums released in like 4 years and all were different sounds and looks – decided by her label.

ITs evident they went down the BAD GIRL route to attract more fans & sales. Make her seem more mature and i even remember her saying her label made her cut her hair like in Umbrella. Obviously she liked it and went shorter, but half of that wasn’t made on her behalf. Not only that, i don’t see total create control coming her way cause as far as i know she don’t write or produce so when a label see’s that they’re being successful without the need of the artists input – then rihanna is still going to be the toy she is.

You haters are so silly, anyone who has any sense of aesthetic appreciation can see some beauty in these photos. I don’t particularly care for any aspect of Rihanna’s career, but I will say that this spread is a genuinely beautiful. Go eat your sour grapes.

rihanna is just plain ugly. i love her music, she’s one of those “meant for your radio”: you’d love listening to her, but couldn’t care less if you see her. I mean, come on, her face is just disturbing. This photoshoot (much like her video for Disturbia) will win a halloween contest anytime. And the thing is, making scary photoshoot and videos are effortless for her, because she just has that scary face.

Well put, laura. Vogue is not a catalogue. It is a high fashion magazine meant to show the clothing in an artistic fashion. And for that, the photos are great. Although, they did style her pretty much the same way they did for the “Run This Town” video. Very “Waterworld”, post-apocolyptic.

Clothes like that are like modern art. All about the artistic process, really. You dont have to understand right away- it is whatever you say it is. Art for arts sake…to quote an amazing artist. Anything is art as long as you say it is…forcing you to look at it in a different way. Beautiful job as far as being aesthetically pleasing. ps people they dont expect you to wear this everyday…
