Ok. Why do you want drugs in the first place ? Because you’re sick, in pain, or anxious or insomniac or whatever.

“Do no harm”:

You go to a doctor. Doctor prescribes you something. And again. And again. The doctor knows it’s addictive. In no time you get addicted. To painkillers, xanax, lorazepam, ANY of those types of meds.

I should know. I listened to my doctor and psychiatrist and I ended up not craving the drugs to feel better, but my body needing them because of the side effects caused by withdrawal. And it doesn’t take a long treatment to get withdrawal syndrome from a drug like xanax (or any other benzodiazepine), just after 5 hours after your last dose. It hurts. It’s a nightmare. And so I inderstand the guy, a bit, because when I read all the stuff he was taking…he didn’t prescribed them to himself and I’m sure he was permanently in pain.

And if everybody knew about that, about his addictions, why didn’t anybody helped ? Said something ?

Michelle, Michael went to several different doctors trying to find one that would give him the drugs he requested. People were telling him no, which he ignored and went looking for other sources. He chose to go down this path, even when he was advised against it. He chose to have a doctor with questionable judgement because he wanted the drugs that questionable judgement would provide.

I agree. This is very tragic. It is not a surprise but it doesn’t make it less tragic. There will never be another Michael Jackson and we will miss him T___T I agree that it is not entirely the doctor’s fault because MJ was the one who wanted these drugs. But if the doctor had MJ’s best interest at heart, he would not have carried on with all these prescriptions. MJ’s life was a very tragic one and I feel sad for his three children. RIP Michael.

I suppose you do need to point some of the blame on Michael because obviously he okayed the use of these drugs and was more than likely dependent on them. That being said, there were people in his life that could have had much better control over the situation. When people put their lives in doctors hands, regardless of their reasons, they do so with the understanding and the sense that the doctor is trained enough and capable enough to know what they are doing. It all comes down to the fact that no matter his reasons for taking it, Michael trusted this person to do this procedure and the doctor failed miserably. When the ramifications of getting this sort of drug wrong are death, then yes I think it is fair to point fingers at the guy who should have known what he was doing in the first place. And I agree Trent, that this news doesn’t really do anything to help the situation as a whole. Michael Jackson is still dead and we are still mourning and trying to process the loss.

It’s ironic that this report came out today. I procured a copy of the newly released Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour at Wal-Mart last night and watched it all… it’s almost inconcievable to see the brilliance of the man on stage and know he was soo close to becoming that performer again, it just makes reading about the toxocology report that much more heartbreaking.

King Pin – Good doctors don’t allow their patients to demand anything from them. They do what is appropiate and in the best interests of the patient. What Conrad did was illegal plain and simple. When you deal with an addict , you treat the addiction., not enable it

Somehow, I think Heather is right. Dr. Murray is merely an employee of MJ. And MJ, as famous and as influential as he is, he can just demand anything from the doctor.

I agree 100% Heather. And Shannon, Dr. Murray didn’t create an addict. Michael had been an addict for decades. The doctor did enable him and should be held criminally accountable, but at the end of the day, Michael did this to himself. Obviously people were telling him “No”, otherwise he wouldn’t have needed so many pharmacies and aliases to get all of his drugs. I just really worry that everyone will look for a scape goat or someone to blame for all of this, and they won’t want to put that on Michael, when it was his choice to live and die with drug abuse.

@Heather I feel the same way he was a grown man and he knew what kind of chance he was taking when he had them put that crap in his veins!!
I also I agree with people who say he should have been encourage to get mental help,as someone already said we don’t know if they did? We do know however if someone tried to talk to him about rehab, he was done with them, just shut and locked them out of his life!!
This whole thing is sad there is alot to be learned from all this money for sure talks and there are alot of greedy people out there you really need to question who are your true friends and who just wants a piece of the pie.
I feel so bad for his children they are the only ones who were just too young to really try to help Michael as for EVERYONE else I have to question what were there thought? Maybe it was a matter of tomorrow we will talk to him tomorrow. I just know if he were my child I would be there giving him HELL until he did something (got some help) right there in front of me!!
Finally lesson we do not know if we can depend one tomorrow it may not come for that person we need to help!!

@Heather I couldn’t agree with you more. Also Dr.Murray didn’t start MJ on his road to addiction and dependence on drugs, he was well on that road before the doc came into the picture. Personally I am sick of hearing about the whole thing. I just feel bad for his kids.

@shannon Yeah but psychiatrists dope up their patients, too. And we don’t know that MJ’s doctor didn’t encourage a holisitic approach. Maybe he did and MJ refused. Who the hell knows?
I kinda agree with what Heather references above… MJ *is* partly responsible for his own drug habit. I’m really not trying to talk smack here – MJ is an idol of mine – but unless someone strapped him down and started an IV drip without his permission, then he did play a role in his own very sad and tragic demise.
All that said, may he RIP and I hope his kids make it okay.

If Dr. Murray had Michael’s best interests in mind, he would have encouraged the entertainer to explore holistic treatments and psychiatry to find the root of his insomnia and not dope him up as a means of helping him sleep and/or fight stress. He created an addict that he ultimately helped to kill. He had better be investigated completely and thoroughly and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law if there is enough evidence to charge him.

Am I the only person that feels Michael Jackson is just as responsible for his own death? The Doctor clearly should be held to a higher regard in that he is a medical professional and has an oath to uphold. I just can’t help but feel that Michael Jackson killed himself with the help of a seriously immoral, money hungry doctor. They are both to blame in my book.
